  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 08:34 AM) http://sports.yahoo.com/news/10-degrees--t...-043408970.html Thanks Caulfield. Lots of interesting stuff in that article.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 08:35 AM) It might be worth just sticking him at 3B for one season (2016) and seeing what happens. Not the ideal solution...and another problem, Avi or Cabrera probably should be DH in 2016 to replace LaRoche. I don't know man, maybe the guy could play adequate defense if he was able to stay at one position but to acquire Guerrero means moves have to be made plus the Dodgers would have to absorb some of Guerrero's contract or be willing to take a contract from the Sox as part of the trade. Possible Samardzija/Guerrero swap in some form? I'm kind of confused on the contract status myself after reading what BR has to say.. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...shtml#contracts Says earliest Arb/FA is 2018/2021. Can anyone shed some light on this?
  3. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 10:21 PM) Alex Guerrero has a clause in his contract that allows him to become a free agent if he is traded. If he's good, he's a half year rental, if he's bad, we're stuck with his contract. He is not a good target because of this. QUOTE (glangon @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 02:37 AM) He'd fit well into our infield then..... The quoted post above yours plus his horrible defense would have me running away from his as fast as possible. The Sox are plagued enough with horrible defense. Now, if Guerrero had a better contract and the Sox had an opening at DH I would be all for it.
  4. Not to s*** on anyone's rib but ... http://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/dodg...0623-story.html " Alex Guerrero must be the worst infielder in the history of Baseball" Sounds like a future DH.
  5. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 06:07 PM) without a shadow of a doubt. this past draft i was hedging on a positional player to draft. but at the end, i wanted if anyone, Fulmer and no one else with the pitcher avail. and look at the abysmal production of the positional players.... the org will need those arms. even if it to trade or something. again, i am lost, but for this draft, at the sox selection of the 4rnd. maybe none of the college or preps were not going to sign or something. i just don't know. the team has a huge black hole on positional players and it was not address. i am lost. at hate what i am going to write, but .... i was looking at the northside draft record and i was trying to figure out how they got a very good farm...... crap, they haven't done that great either in their draft and most of their draft were much higher than the sox. did they have their collective head up each other arses.... Will be interesting to see how the Cubs and Astros draft when they are no longer picking inside the top 10. Then we will see just how good their scouting is. The organization that impressed me most is the Cardinals. They have not picked higher than 19th over all since 2008 when they picked 13th and yet here they are still developing major league talent year after year.
  6. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 05:38 PM) The Hawkins pick was regarded as a solid pick, remember he was mocked as being a top ten pick. And the Anderson pick was regarded as a good pick too by guys like Kikey McDaniel. They have drafted better since the current CBA came into effect. I do think that the Sox should revamp their scouting department when it comes to their domestic amateur scouts, and play development program when it comes to bats. Good points with Hawkins and Anderson. Picks I was happy about, and still am, when they were drafted. I guess it is easy to be down on the drafting and player development side of things when the young bats are unable to come up and produce but my biggest gripe is the lack of fundamentals throughout the organization and especially with the big league club. When I was watching today's Sox game and watched Sanchez cluelessly abandon 2B to go cover first on a base hit, I immediately thought to myself " WTF is this organization doing?". There is no reason for Sanchez to cover first on a single, as far as that particular play is concerned. Just another bonehead play, like the many we've already seen this year.
  7. That is a well written and informative writeup Joshua, well done.
  8. Oops, sorry I missed this thread. Welcome to board!
  9. I wonder how many of those will be thrown onto the field after Eaton makes another dumb ass mistake? The Sox PR department is really reaching on this promotion.
  10. I don't know what's keeping Sale from burying his foot up Sanchez and Eaton's asses! Just pathetic!
  11. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 10:40 AM) And it's looking like with another high pick again next year another great arm will be there for the taking. Yes it is and if that's the case there's no doubt the Sox grab that arm. I'm hoping for at least the possibility of a second round bat or the 2016 college season produces a few top ten bats to compete with those arms.
  12. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 11:18 PM) I never said they did, I'm saying that they need to. Always take the best player available and when things are close go with the guy with the higher ceiling. But eventually if the Sox want to develop their own bats they are going to have to start sometime if they're serious about it QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 06:24 AM) and you make a good point, i may not totally agree with the bold. i would go, if all things are equal, for the need of the team. but yes, the sox will need to start addressing the lack of hitting somehow. so yes, it would stand to reason, that the sox NEEDS to start addressing that. I know the Sox are not good at scouting, drafting and development but you are both right. At some point the Sox will have to face their fears and start taking chances again on drafting hitters in the earlier rounds. I will say that the Sox drafted the right guys the last two years. I mean, how could they pass on those arms?
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 08:32 AM) Passan just wrote about this yesterday. They're not going to make wholesale changes, and certainly dont want to dump Ramirez and Sandoval for pennies on the dollar. Betts and Bogaerts are close to untouchable, along with Rodriguez and Swihart. The pitcher they value the most for the moment is Brian Johnson. Unless the White Sox view Rusney Castillo as a future star, there's not a good fit. Yoan Moncada has a disappointing 576 ops in the low minors (roughly 100 abs) so far but they wont trade him this quickly. Do you have a link to the article? Would like to read his take on it.
  14. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 06:44 AM) on the rumors pages, i am kinda of piecing together an idea that many teams really do not want to sacrifice young prospects for a needed player to help in the playoff. that is right now. plus team are really over estimating the value of their players. I forget where I said this the other day but more teams are willing to wait for their higher valued prospects to become MLB ready. The cubs would seem to be one example. They have plenty to trade but they realize they need more time to see who sticks, then the players that do not stick could very likely be traded this winter for pitching. I see Boston doing similar things with holding onto certain high level prospects. Both teams are loaded but not likely to make the playoffs so,imo, they are continuing with their respective rebuilds and see where they are at this winter. The ever increasing price of FA is making teams think otherwise about dealing top prospects. That's not to say no team will deal top prospects, just seems like prospects are holding more value in the eyes of some teams. That said. Maybe a team like Boston changes their perspective if a young lefty like Q was on the trade table. They do seem pretty adamant in keeping their best though so who knows? Edit: add the Dodgers to that list as well. Last winter there were reports about the Dodgers saying no to trading top prospects like Joc Pederson etc.
  15. I could get used to threads like this. Well done White Sox.
  16. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 10:01 PM) Hey look, 50% off Papa Johns tomorrow Beat me to it.
  17. Yep, I'm on board with bringing in Robertson. It's why he's paid the big bucks.
  18. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 09:10 PM) i wouldn't want to trade with Bos, the rtn will really not help that much. Yeah, going by the rumors ( Cole Hamels) so far this year Boston seems very reluctant in trading away certain younger players. Players the White Sox would be looking for in a trade.
  19. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 08:29 PM) the Shark couldn't get let that tie stay a tie could he. If our batters had as many homeruns as our pitching has given up we might be in 1st place Why you got to be so negative man? Ah, another day in the life of White Sox Baseball. Ain't it grrrrrreat!?!?
  20. On a positive note, Samardzija appears to have found his groove.
  21. Anderson with a 3B. Edit: add a double to that triple.
  22. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) Another ball booted by alexei, not an easy play but he still booted it I'm sorry, what's that? I was distracted by the bouncing pony tail in your avitar. Isn't there a Sox game tonight, or something?
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 07:25 PM) On a good team, Alexei would be batting 9th. Instead we see him 2nd or 6th No kidding. Then again, with the season Alexei is having I wonder if he would be starting on a good team.
  24. Sigh, not surprised. Same as it ever was...
