  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 09:12 AM) Very interesting. Sounds like the Sox went under slot on 4 and 5 to save money for Zangari @#6.
  2. Found a short but interesting read on Zangari. "He said Tuesday the White Sox had planned to take him earlier in the draft, but they needed pitching. Chicago drafted Clemson left-hander Zack Erwin and Rice right-hander Jordan Stephens in the fourth and fifth round. Zangari said he was promised a higher bonus than the sixth round slot, but would not reveal the amount." http://m.newsok.com/chicago-white-sox-draf...article/5426411
  3. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 07:37 AM) I may be underestimating the value of Shark as a short term rental. I just read about the young phenom, Rodriquez, Boston brought up. In his first 3 starts he has a .44 ERA and 21 SO in 20 innings. Boston got him at trade deadline for Anrew Miller. Now granted Miller was a lefty closer but Baltimore still only go the 3 months out of him. Rodriquez was Baltimore's 3rd highest prospect. So maybe Shark brings some team's top 5 prospect. Hmm, you make a good point. Perhaps I'm underestimating Samardzija's value. I really don't see the value but I do hope I'm blind in this case.lol.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 11:32 PM) Different teams in different situations. If I were the Astros and at the deadline I desperately needed a starter to go on a WS run, yeah, I could probably be convinced to give up Adams or Danish. Based on Samardzija's performance so far combined with being a three month rental, I could not do it. There's been no indication Samardzija will improve. I could see it if Samardzija was pitching the way he did last, but not now.
  5. I think the best way to look at this is what Sox prospects would fans be willing to give up for Shark and translate those prospects to the equivalent Astros prospects. Would Sox fans be willing to give up any one of Adams, Montas, Danish, Anderson for 3 months of Shark?
  6. Anderson with another walk tonight.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 04:42 PM) Unless the box score is wrong it looks like Montas is pitching now. It changed since this morning. They still show Montas as the starter for game two. Hell of a game Montas!
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 03:53 PM) The MLB blurb I just read said that he kind of took a step back this season, he couldn't maintain his FB velocity deep into games. They said it was dipping to high 80s. They also mentioned that his slider looked more like a curve this season, he wasn't getting the sharp break he had in the previous season Thanks KyYIE23. I'm curious to see if the Sox continue to start him or move him into a relief role.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 03:45 PM) Obviously very signable. Mechanics straight forward. Medical or he told teams to f off and he'd only sign with the sox. Lol, I think your second option is likely it. Last night I was wondering the same thing with Daz somehow making it to the Astros third pick.
  10. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 03:27 PM) Interesting Fringe 5 info on Jordan Stephens from Fangraphs. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-fringe-...-draft-edition/ Looked like he threw a split or sinker with a change up and slider. Am I seeing that right? As for Hickman, awesome story. Glad that story continues with the White Sox.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 12:53 PM) Take a discount and sign quickly, Carson! JJ Stankevitz ‏@JJStankevitz 20m20 minutes ago #WhiteSox 1st-round pick Carson Fulmer wants to follow fellow Lakeland, Fla. native Chris Sale's path to the majors: http://bit.ly/1KZyprP Doug Padilla ‏@ESPNChiSox 20m20 minutes ago Carson Fulmer's White Sox love is real http://es.pn/1JHfm3D Carson Fulmer. No denying his enthusiasm, love it!
  12. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 01:21 PM) Here's some video on Erwin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvzCf73ghUs Thanks for the video. His velocity and repertoire remind me of Surkamp.
  13. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 12:17 PM) nah, but i like this one better. the one i remember happen near the dugout as he was trying to take his spikes off. good stuff. Awe man, thought that was it. I searched around and could not find the fight you speak of. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 12:24 PM) I was at that game and that was what i presumed he was referencing. Hilariously entertaining. No kidding! Being there to witness two pitchers brawl had to be hilarious. I didn't realize how long ago that brawl was. Jeebus.
  14. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 12:06 PM) i still remember Chan in his first season, someone charge the mound and Chan was trying to take off his cleats. i saw him do a spinning kick and missed, then there was a big pile up on him. it was too funny. Lol, was it this? I think Fulmer would have better luck.lol.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 11:38 AM) Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 13m13 minutes ago I wonder if Fulmer is the first black belt selected by the White Sox in the first round. That's a cool side story on him Ha ha, hitters take note of this before you charge the mound. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 11:39 AM) Doug Padilla ‏@ESPNChiSox 29m29 minutes ago After he was drafted by the W Sox Monday, Carson Fulmer went to a Buff Wild WIngs to watch Chris Sale pitch. He wasn't disappointed. That's just all kinds of awesome! QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 11:39 AM) As for nicknames.... his nickname is The Assassin. Yeah, I guess that works too.
  16. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 11:19 AM) quite of few, but my problem is i don't know if he value of the player is where experts say they should. look at David thompson 3b, Miami, all except for 1 mock had him going in the comp round of the 1 round. now, in round 3, he is still on undrafted. i already mention some hitters earlier in this post, Mitchell Nau - c George Iskenderian Sean Trent, i really like this navy kid, i am just unsure of his military commitment. kep brown or something. there is 1 player i am very intrigue about is c j hinzo something or another. he was suppose to have been a potential first rounder and they fell apart. my question is why??? too much pressure?? can he be fixed?? Thanks LDF. I'm going to look these guys up now.
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 10:21 AM) It goes well with our animal theme. Condor, The Flying Serpent, Shark What do we give Rodon? How about Rodan from the old Godzilla movies? http://kaiju.wdfiles.com/local--files/wiki...dan_1993_01.jpg
  18. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 10:17 AM) i totally agree, at this point, some prep arms maybe the the better route. but this systems needs positional players, no matter what. I know you have done a lot of research on this draft. What are some names you think could pop up for the Sox in the fourth round?
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 09:43 AM) If Fulmer doesn't have a nickname, I vote for the Black Swan. I second this. Somehow the name just feels right.
  20. With the Sox picking Fulmer and the collection of arms the Sox have, I really hope they get after some hitters. At some point, this organization will have to develop some hitting.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 07:59 AM) Just to recap, the two articles Future Sox published on Fulmer... 1. The newsy, fact-heavy post 2. The scouting deep dive Both are excellent and you should read them. Dan and Alex worked the newsy one together (yes THAT Alex, back from the dead), and Will did the scouting piece. Both referenced Jeff's pre-draft profile. All-around work to get these done. Well done everyone. Really enjoyed both reads.
  22. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 07:42 AM) why am I reading that he was a reliever in college? did he do both? Yep. Fulmer was switched to a starter during the 2014 season.
  23. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20150609 Charlotte- Haviland 6:05 CT Birmingham- Buciferro 4:00 CT Birmingham- Montas game two. Winny- Layer 5:00 CT Winny- Clark game two. Kanny- Adams 6:00 CT Adams will face the 2014 1-2 pick in Tyler Kolek.
  24. Something's up with Matuella. BA had Matuella ranked 23 and were now 73 picks into the draft and there he sits?
