  1. I'm hoping the Sox end up with one of Jay, Funkhouser, Kirby which looks like a very realistic possibility. I would be happy with Fulmer too if the other three are already off the board.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2015 -> 01:36 PM) Any scouting reports on Jay from those that have seen him pitch (and no, not when he was 12 ) I was looking at this earlier today, has a recent video and scouting report. http://riveraveblues.com/2015/05/2015-draf...ler-jay-118943/
  3. Stumbled across this while looking for mock drafts. http://dcprosportsreport.com/MLBMocks.htm I like the way it's set up.
  4. QUOTE (LDF @ May 5, 2015 -> 09:50 PM) you have to take what i am going to say like a grain of salt, i am not a draft guru. but for me. there is only 1 top prospect in this yr draft in that top tier as you mention, that is Rogers. now Swanson and yeah even Tate is the next level, no one else in that tier. then the next is a quasi tier of mixed prospects. however there are still some very good looking prospects peaking. That's what I thought. After those three kids, it looks a bit like a free for all. Still very confusing at this point.
  5. Are Rogers, Swanson and Tate considered the top tier?
  6. Sox baseball reminds me too much of the movie Groundhog Day.
  7. QUOTE (LDF @ May 4, 2015 -> 08:11 PM) good point. lets look at last yr, the BPA was, hands down Rodon, even when the other teams were making their selection. this yr. my head is spinning. i can't for the life of me decide. But last year the Sox only had two teams picking ahead of them and 2015 was a better draft class. Relax LDF. Unless you know what the other seven picks are going be, you won't be able to determine the BPA.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2015 -> 07:47 PM) It is a silly thing to say most years. This year, even more so. The biggest reason is how do you determine "best". Is it the guy with a major injury and a much higher ceiling, or the safer bet, but a lower ceiling? Good question, wish I had a definitive answer to be honest but I don't. There's a case to be made for both sides so it really comes down to preferences and opinions. I guess the big question is, who do we think the Sox FO/scouts will view as the BPA and not who we think the BPA is.
  9. BPA for the Sox will be determined by which players are picked by the seven teams ahead of the Sox in the draft.
  10. QUOTE (LDF @ May 4, 2015 -> 06:30 PM) may 4 mock draft. http://www.mymlbdraft.com/MLB-Mock-Draft much better than that last crap they put out last month. still not sure on some picks. What's going on with Happ? He's down to #18? I know its just a mock draft, I just thought Happ was rumored to be higher. Also, I'd take Nathan Kirby over Buehler. I certainly would not complain if the Sox drafted Buehler tho.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2015 -> 12:12 PM) I'd put Anderson right into the SS position now if we want to serve youth. I'd go with Sanchez for 2015 while Anderson works on getting his defense up to speed. I think Anderson could get a legit shot next year though. Again, that's if the Sox were to go the youth route. I still have some hope that things can turn around. 6 games under this early in the season is not cause for panic.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2015 -> 11:54 AM) Because there isnt a point. You unload your SS first and foremost if you want to start bring up the youth. Yes sir. The Sox have MI depth so trading Ramirez first makes the most sense, not that Ramirez is easily replaceable. I would be fine with giving Sanchez a shot at SS. This is based on the Sox being out of it by the trade dead line, for now, I take a wait and see approach. If certain Sox players end up increasing their decreased trade value, the Sox may end up playing better baseball because of it ( they should) and change our perspectives on the state of the team.
  13. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ May 4, 2015 -> 11:35 AM) All the more reason to move him. It's time to rebuild a la Cubs and Astros. What does a rebuilding team accomplish in trading a 23 yo with plenty of potential? Avi fits the mold a rebuilding team would be looking for; youth, high ceiling and cost controlled. I just don't see a point in trading him.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2015 -> 07:22 PM) LOL. Choose to hold them "accountable". Yet here you are still talking about the team, watching games, etc. And if he wasn't talking about the team, watching games etc, he would be labeled as a fair weather fan. Sox fans are in a bad spot. How does a fan go about supporting their team without supporting ownership? We as fans are all monkeys in the middle caught between poor ownership and fandom.
  15. QUOTE (LDF @ May 3, 2015 -> 10:21 PM) for me, i am taking this a little more serious and prob will be a waste of time. oh well. Todd Steverson why not. he did great last yr. Dave Martinez been talked about in the short area of consideration for previous jobs. Carlos Tosca bench coach, not too many with good team except for this yr. Martinez is a good idea, great baseball mind. Loved him as a player.
  16. Slide Ventura to the bat boy job, pull Stoney out of the booth and put him in the dugout. Sadly, I doubt Stoney would be interested in managing.
  17. Hi8is is just f***in with people. He likes yanking chains, and talking about poop.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2015 -> 04:41 PM) The games have looked like Sox are using wooden bats and the opponents get to use old school college aluminum bats. Like the sound of meatballs hung over the heart of home plate to opposing hitters?
  19. I still love the idea of Sale, Q and Rodon as the foundation of the Sox rotation so IMO, I keep them and everyone else can be had for the right price when the trade dead gets closer. That's ONLY if the Sox continue to fall and by no means am I saying have a fire sale... wait for July.
  20. I though it was interesting how Rodon relieved Noesi. Next time out, it could be Rodon starting and Noesi getting mop up duties. The hell with it. Put Noesi or Danks in the pen and put Rodon in the rotation. While were at it. Release Bonafacio's worthless ass and call up Sanchez to put some heat on Johnson and Gillaspie. If the Sox are truly trying to contend, they will make some changes because this isn't working right now. At least start with getting Rodon into the rotation first. I'm really starting to wonder if the crazy idea of trading Danks for Jackson was crazy after all...
  21. Just letting Montas fans know that he is on the hill for Birmingham today!
  22. QUOTE (Lillian @ May 3, 2015 -> 02:05 PM) Your point is well taken. OK, wait until he proves he's himself, re-establishes his trade value, and then trade him. Exactly! In the mean time, if the Sox pull out of the abyss and look like contenders, they can keep Samardzija and LA Roche for a play off push. Stay or go, they still need to reestablish value first.
  23. Trade Samardzija now after his value has dropped due to a horrible start to the season? Same with LA Roche? Didn't we learn anything from the Swisher fiasco?
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ May 3, 2015 -> 09:26 AM) Danks career at Target Field: 8 starts, 47.2 innings 2-5, 7.74 ERA Start getting excited about the trade deadline, I guess. So would a four game sweep be the golden broom? As for Danks starting today, sigh.....
