  1. I think Sox fans need to slow down a bit here. Its difficult to get any kind of rhythm going when the team starts the season having a beanball war with KC, then cold ass whether, riots in Baltimore, rain outs and then there's LA Roche and Ramirez whom are notoriously slow starters. Really not trying to make excuses, just willing to wait a bit longer to see if the team can get a rhythm going before pulling the plug. It really is early yet.
  2. I am excited about Anderson and May performing well at the top of the order in Birmingham. Love the flexibility they bring with May being switch and Anderson being RH. Can alternate them between one and two according to the hand of the starting pitcher. If only they can learn to draw more walks, the Sox lineup could be very exciting at the top of the order in a few years.
  3. QUOTE (Lillian @ May 2, 2015 -> 08:45 PM) 9 consecutive hits, including 3 doubles and 2 homers!! What the hell is he on? https://jamesflinnlaw.files.wordpress.com/2013/12/jobu1.jpg Carlos has been studying the teachings of Jobu!
  4. Wow, have your self a game Sanchez! TA is 1-2 for Birm May is 1-1 1BB 2SB for Birm Martinez pitching well for Kanny Good things happening on the farm tonight.
  5. I don't pay much attention to the cubs but they are looking crazy like a fox with the Schwarber pick last year.
  6. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 1, 2015 -> 03:39 PM) Alright MJ, it's your time to shine. I hate it when I grab the rusty butter knife to shave with instead of the barbers blade. Maybe Eaton didn't want to use the barbers blade in fear of accidental self decapitation. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 1, 2015 -> 03:39 PM) It was probably weighing him down too much anyway. Now he'll be Lorenzo Cain and Adam Jones on steroids. The beard really is aerodynamically incorrect for a CF so the excessive wind drag could have had an adverse effect on his defense.
  7. Happy to see MJ leading off tonight. Pretty cool seeing the name Johnson at the top of the order again, its been a while.
  8. QUOTE (LDF @ May 1, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) you make good point in you points. but MJ to lead, move Eaton down. lets get and consecrate on the top order to get on base and win a game. make subtle changes at first. Technically it is subtle since each player moves up one spot in the order. The current top of the order ( namely Eaton) is not getting it done so the change really is about concentrating on getting the top of the order on base. Johnson see's more pitches than Eaton ( for the moment), Eaton is only batting .192, Johnson is batting .271 and viewed as the organizations future lead off hitter so it just makes sense to at least give it a try. Again, that's .192 from the lead off spot! Also, after last nights game, it would seem Eaton is bringing his batting struggles onto the field with him because his head was severely up his ass last night defensively. Hoping that was just a one night show. I think Eaton will be fine, but for now, if the Sox are going to contend they will need better production from the lead off spot so I say shake it up.
  9. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 1, 2015 -> 01:10 PM) Yes, that was me. The original comments were pre-draft. It was more in relation to his lack of trunk flexion during his follow through. I mentioned I thought it could be an issue with his control and possible increased stress on his shoulder. However, I also said that it would not prevent me from drafting him as the talent was too great to pass up. The best player available discussion. I remember now, its been a year or so since you had mentioned it so the memory of your posts is a bit foggy, that was many beers ago. Two questions. 1- do you think Rodon's occasional control issues comes from the lack of flexion or is it more about repeating his mechanics? 2- would it be best to leave Rodon alone?
  10. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 1, 2015 -> 12:55 PM) Micah's long term development is way more important than a few more PA for our most patient hitter in April (Jesus, can't believe I just typed that). Putting him in the top spot just puts way too much pressure on him IMO. On that other hand, putting a rookie up top is exactly the sort of move that might be needed to galvanize this bunch. So it will never happen, that's not RV, don't rock the boat blah blah blah. I know what you're saying and would normally agree. For now, Eaton is not getting it done as a table setter and there aren't many options. Some good could come from Johnson moving into the one hole. 1- Johnson potentially seeing more pitches helps Eaton to see more pitches from the batters box. 2- Johnson's base stealing potential might help Eaton when Johnson gets on base ahead of him. Imagine a pitcher having to pitch into Eaton's teacup size of a strike zone with Micah's speed on first, yikes! 3- Abreu batting behind Eaton might help too. 4- Moving Johnson to lead off could end up boosting Johnson's confidence in himself even higher. I like the potential possibilities but I admit it might not work. With the way the Sox have been struggling, a change is needed at lead off, even if its just a temporary shakeup.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 1, 2015 -> 12:06 PM) Christopher Kamka ‏@ckamka 51m51 minutes ago Micah Johnson leads #WhiteSox batters with at least 50 plate appearances this season with 4.07 pitches seen per PA. There ya go! I say shake it up with MJ leadoff and Eaton 2nd. Maybe Eaton batting ahead of Abreu will help Eaton out.
  12. QUOTE (LDF @ May 1, 2015 -> 12:00 PM) to make this fair, esp from my stand point, how many other players on this team right now, not hitting??? lets also say, how many are not hitting north of lets say 220 avg??? the reason i pointed out Eaton, MJ is hitting, leading him off, can bring a spark to the offense. all it needs is a little spark. the spark was given and them the crap in Balt ruined the momentum. Another idea could be batting MJ leadoff with Eaton batting second behind him.
  13. Thanks for sharing, very incitful. Ptatc, Weren't you the member that posted concerns about Rodon in reference to the trunk? I thought you had specifically mentioned the trunk after watching scouting videos on Rodon.
  14. QUOTE (Lillian @ May 1, 2015 -> 11:01 AM) The best thing is that the centerfielders at Charlotte, Birmingham and Winston Salem, are all playing really well. I'm hopeful that Thompson, May or Engel will emerge as our centerfielder, way before Eaton's contract is finished. Who among those 3, intrigues you guys the most? Excellent pont Lillian, all three CF's are playing well. Thompson has a nice blend of speed with power but for some unknown reason, May is the guy that intrigues the most. I really like May's potential for stealing bases, extra base hits, defense and OBP.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 1, 2015 -> 08:26 AM) Q lost. Next man up! Show us the winning ways my man!
  16. I thought Quinavery was making the game threads? My, have we become superstitious. Just messin with ya Ky.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 1, 2015 -> 08:15 AM) Im sure it includes magic beans and Gordon Beckham, along with the coin Hahn's kid chose for the playoff toss in 2008. Please tell me Walt Hriniak is hidden in there too!
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 1, 2015 -> 08:07 AM) No, only Moises Sierra or Alou. (Minus the whole urinating on the hands thing). I'd go with Sierra. He has better hygiene!
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 1, 2015 -> 08:02 AM) It and the bullpen thread should be eviscerated. (So far the virus has only infected Petricka...save everyone else before it's too late!) Thanks, The Billy Goat lives! Btw, we should endeavor to put Geraldo Rivera on this story, pronto. Maybe Geraldo will discover the Sox vault that contains the solutions to their problems. RV sure as s*** has not figured it out.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 1, 2015 -> 04:54 AM) All I know for certain is that Attack the Block rules. Permanent get out of jail free card. Does that make you Moses? Killer movie, really enjoyed it!
  21. Yeah, I'm taking Davidson with a huge grain of salt right now. Look at Davidsons game logs, his numbers are quite padded due to his 4/29 game. Before that his numbers were not very good. I still hold onto hope that Davidson can move Conor and Beckham out of Chicago permanently but Davidson still has more to prove yet.
  22. Good grief, the f***ing bad news bears played better baseball under Walter Matthau! I know its early in the season and teams can bounce back quickly like the Dodgers did a few years ago but this team is fundamentally challenged. This will be a long season Sox fans. I hate the fact this lousy brand of would be baseball has gotten me thinking about the 2016 draft and we haven't gotten to the 2015 draft yet! As of right now, this team is a laughing stock! Maybe the Sox can get Kelly Leak out of retirement to supply power behind Abreu and LaRoche. f*** this game tonight, changing the station now!
  23. Thanks for the links Caulfield. I like Angelos and his son even more now.
  24. Jordan Guerrero having a good night for Kanny. 7ip 1er 2BB 4K and a 0.72 ERA on the season so far. Jacob May 1-3 2B 2K Anderson 1-3 RBI K CS
  25. Anderson 1-1 1SB. Davidson, wtf?!
