Which Cuban would you most want to add to Sox?
BlackSox13 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Jose Fernandez. A front four of Sale, Fernandez, Q and Rodon would be insane! -
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 10:37 AM) You have Quintana on 3 days rest. Not happening. 4-6 at KC Samardzija 4-7 4-8 at KC Quintana 4-9 at KC Noesi 4-10 vs Min Danks 4-11 vs Min Penny 4-12 vs Min Samardzija 4-13 4-14 at Cle Quintana 4-15 at Cle Noesi 4-16 4-17 at Det Danks 4-18 at Det Sale 4-19 at Det Samardzija 4-20 vs Cle Quintana 4-21 vs Cle Noesi 4-22 vs Cle Danks Rinse. Repeat. Well s*** fire, you're right. Good catch! I like the way you played it out better so I'm going to go with that.

Agreed about the nod should go to Q but it is what it is. Here's my guess as to how the rotation plays out. Shark 4/6 Q. 4/8 Noesi 4/9 Danks. 4/10 Shark. 4/11 Q. 4/12 Noesi. 4/14 Danks. 4/15 Sale. 4/17 Shark. 4/18 Q. 4/19 Noesi. 4/20 Danks. 4/21 Rinse and repeat.

QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 23, 2015 -> 07:57 PM) another mock draft http://indians.scout.com/story/1526662-201...-mock-draft-1-0 Thanks for posting. At the moment, I would be happy with Buehler but I don't think I would take him ahead of Happ.
-
Hawkins can certainly hit a FB. Good job of pulling his hands in to get the barrel of the bat on the ball in the second homer. Really looking forward to seeing how he hits in Birmingham.
-
Didn't Buehrle go through a short dead arm spell every ST? I'm sure others do but Buehrle stands out in my head.
-
To quote spanky, " well, that escalated quickly". Did not expect this but I'm happy about no doubt.

Micah Johnson should be White Sox second baseman
BlackSox13 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 20, 2015 -> 12:59 PM) i am so divided on this, i want him to stay, but i just don't want to looking from the outside saying the sox is rushing him. before the success of MJ this spring, i was content with CS at 2b, MJ getting a look see and others being the backup. i just hope the sox are not rushing him based on his success this spring. I hear ya. I was rather sure the Sox were going to give Sanchez the starting nod and Johnson more time in Charlotte but it would seem that has changed and I was dead wrong. I guess the only way to know if Johnson is ready is by giving him a shot, assuming he continues to outperform Sanchez, Beckham and Bonafacio. -

QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 20, 2015 -> 08:43 AM) here is the really hard question to consider. would it best serve to send MJ down to the minors to continue his development, esp in positional situation at 2b or go with the hot hand at 2b and keep him up? If Johnson continues to do all the things he is currently doing, or even close to it, IMO you stick with him. Beckham and Bonafacio are backups and with Sanchez being so young it won't hurt him to get consistent at bats in Charlotte. An even more interesting question is what happens if Sanchez raises his game to the level Johnson has been playing at? A nice dilemma to have. -

Going into ST, my guess was Sanchez as the starting second baseman but as of now Micah is looking like he's the man for job. Its going to be interesting to see how Johnson responds to tougher pitching as more pitchers are reassigned to the minors. -
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 11:06 PM) Yea all my friends are mariner or tiger fans (I live in Seattle now) so nobody to watch Sox games with. Even during the opener I'll be half doing something else while I'm watching. Prolly dicking around on Soxtalk and the net. The game can be exciting, but we all know it's hardly much see TV pitch to pitch until the playoffs of pennant race time. Especially with the convenience of MLB.tv replay options. Tiger fans in Seattle, no s***? I wouldn't have guessed that one. Good thing is you have that joint, beer and some baseball fans to chill with. Were going to have to export some Sox fans to Seattle for you to hang and enjoy games with.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 06:37 PM) I will be taking the off off and parked in front of my modest 42" HDTV with a huge ass joint and a beer. Want some company? Have not thought about where I'll be watching the opener but seeing as how the opener is quickly approaching I should start thinking more about it.

Brad Penny touching 94, leading candidate for 5th starter

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 08:51 AM) No. QUOTE (staxx @ Mar 19, 2015 -> 09:50 AM) I second this motion. Make that three of us. I'll take Noesi, Danks, Penny or Carroll over Jackson anytime. -
Breakouts? Quintana, Semien and Sxtlk fav MSaunders
BlackSox13 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 15, 2015 -> 08:30 PM) I chatted him up pretty good before we got Melky and LaRoche ( I think) when it was rumored Seattle would more than likely be moving him. I ,too, thought if he could stay injury free he was the right age for a breakout plus we needed a lefty bat at the time . I remember other posters echoing that sentiment. I believe I was one the people talking about him as well. As for Q. I agree the breakout has already happened, now its about sustaining the success he's had for the last two seasons. Not to knock Q but its hard to imagine him getting better in the " breakout " sense. The only thing I really expect more from Q would be innings pitched. I'm beyond happy with the rest of his stats. -
Someone show Micah the video footage of Quentin braking his wrist. Maybe that will help Micah to chill a bit. Seriously though, I think or am hoping its just Micah pressing because he knows he has a serious shot at the second base opening.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 9, 2015 -> 11:11 PM) Good to see him taking his weight "issues" seriously...as well. That can only help his stamina, endurance and fielding ability. Yes it is. I got a laugh out of his Bartolo Colon comment. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Montas does in 2015.
-
QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 9, 2015 -> 04:58 PM) Not sure if this was posted anywhere else. Throwing smoke out there. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/03/09/lev...0-on-radar-gun/ Thanks for posting, good quotes from Montas and Coop. As for Levine, good to see him catching on to what most Sox fans already know.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 8, 2015 -> 05:22 PM) 23-27 would be a pretty decent guess....depending on accumulated innings (140-160) and pitch counts, obviously. I think 23-27 is a good guess Caulfield and IMO, 140-160 would be the target for 2015.
-
As far as stuff goes, he probably is ready but he's not ready as far as endurance is concerned, at least not as a starter on a potential playoff contender. Carlos still needs to build up to 33 starts. Let Carlos have his innings as a starter in Charlotte and if he's needed, he's just a phone call away. Maybe the Sox could use him in the pen for the stretch run.

Blue Jays prospect, who lives out of his van
BlackSox13 replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
That is a great read! Thanks for sharing. -
No worries on Danish. He's 20, has yet to pitch in AA ( though he will this year) and its early in ST. The only expectations I have of Danish at this point is to take the things he learns in ST with him to Birmingham when the season starts.
-
There it is! The usual ST article about Beckham's new approach to hitting, or how he's matured, or how this year he will figure it out etc etc. I don't know which is more annoying, Beckham or Levine. Maybe I should start a poll.
-
Great work Joshua, much appreciated!!! Rodon, nuff said. I can see why Anderson is moving so quickly, his bat speed really is something. Danish has got some sick movement on his FB and slider, wow! I would not want to stand in the batters box against him. Adams looks to have some decent sink on his FB, the slider is really nice and I like the curve ball he threw for the K. Montas, love his easy delivery and boy does the catchers mitt pop when he throws the FB. I like J. Mitchell's bat speed a lot, not like TA but still good. Love the curve ball and tailing FB from Andrew Mitchell. Definitely another one to keep an eye on. Micah, just cannot wait to see what he can do with healthy legs. Again, great work and I really enjoyed the vids.

Hawkins really seems like he has matured quite a bit over the last few years. Kid sounds like he has his head on straight.
