  1. QUOTE (MDWhiteSoxFan @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 06:17 PM) I think you mean is the address 1600? I don't think so haha. The biggest thing I have liked about this forum is the activity from the posters. So your name isn't Obama? Oh well, welcome to the board anyway.
  2. QUOTE (Baron @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 06:01 PM) I honestly dont know how many times this needs to be repeated to outside fans. The White Sox have zero reason to trade him EXCEPT a package worth it in weight of players. Otherwise they can hand onto him until Anderson is ready. The situation is perfect for us right now. Either get a really good package or have a really good option at SS. Problem is that Alexei is not worth any of the Dodgers top three. If you had Pederson, Seager, Urias would you be willing to trade any of them for Alexei? I sure as hell would not. If the Sox are ever going to move Alexei, now is the time. He's coming off of a great year and has two years of his contract remaining. That's good value. The longer the Sox wait the less value his contract holds and the more of a chance he has at regressing and decreasing his value further. The sox do need to make a decision on Alexei based on those two things plus, if they decide to hold onto him there's no guarantee they get compensation if he goes to FA. The Sox do not have to trade Alexei but they do need to make a decision on his future with the team. Don't wait til his regression has begun and then try to trade him.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 05:30 PM) I hate to keep doing this, but I'm not sure why they'd deal Gordon if they don't feel Guerrero is a capable 2B. If they did, that one might make a little more sense, but the report on Gordon is that he doesn't have the arm for SS (which seems weird knowing who his father and brother are, but that's what they say). The only way that makes sense is if the Sox included Carlos Sanchez in that deal too, and really I think that's getting to be too many moving parts. I'm not sure all sides would be happy with that one. You're a buzz kill wite, a total buzz kill. I'm not so sure thats too many moving parts. Two for two isn't too big of a hurdle. Now if Danks and one of Ethier or Crawford are thrown into the mix, look out! Gordon and Schebler for Alexei and Sanchez I would do. That leaves Semien and Johnson to duel it out at second. Love the idea of Gordon and Eaton setting the table at the top of the order ahead of Abreu. I only keep bringing up Schebler because if I'm the Dodgers I'm not giving up Pederson, Seager or Urias for Alexei so I'm just trying to think outside the box at what a potential deal might look like if it were to happen. I know if I'm the Dodgers I'm not giving up any of those three for Alexei but again, I admit that my version of Alexei's value is different from most.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 05:14 PM) It's more interesting, but it really depends on their scouting report of Arruebarrena and how he can hit/field. If they feel he can hit a little, it may be worth it, but I haven't seen anything to indicate he will. Just so we can put these out here for people to see so we can realize how bad of a hitter Arruebarrena is, these are his minor league numbers (minors..not the majors...THE MINORS): 272 PAs, .259/.304/.417/.721, 23 XBHs, 16 BBs (5.9% BB%), 91 K (33.5% K%) The fact that his K% in the majors over 45 PAs was only 37.8% is frankly astonishing. So Arruebarrena is a slight improvement over Leury? Yikes, never mind. OK, new bucket of s*** to throw at the wall. Tell the Dodgers Gordon and Schebler for Alexei.
  5. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 05:03 PM) ' hell yeah, if he didn't do that, he is a fool, and he really doesn't strike me as being addled minded. Hahn is definitely no fool. I'm really hoping I'm wrong on Alexei's perceived value. Maybe at some point Hahn shows us all. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 05:09 PM) I am hoping it's Seager because that would solve a lot of problems. He's a left handed bat, a run producer who has solid contact skills that allow him to hit for a high average and should be able to hit 25 homers a season with a ton of doubles and he plays 3rd base. Its likely the Dodgers are looking to acquire Alexei as a stop gap to Seager. Alexei's contract expires after 2016 and Seager is expected to be ready by then. Same as what us Sox fans talking about with Alexei bridging the gap to Anderson.
  6. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 05:00 PM) if i have a problem, it is prob the yrs. but screw that, this is a great signing. it opens up a whole realm of possibilities and how to address some other holes. I agree on the years. Would have preferred the third year as an option but let's face it, the last two years have not been pretty on the south side so its not the most attractive market to free agents if they are looking to win. VMart would be a prime example, IMO. For now, I see nothing but positive things from this. The Sox have made their first move, its a move that fills a void and it thankfully gives us fans something new to discuss. I refuse to look at this in a negative light. The pen needs help and Hahn has taken a step to help that. I'm a very happy Sox fan today.
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 04:45 PM) Schebler also walked 8% of the time and struck out 19.6% of the time, both fairly reasonable numbers. He did it as a 23 year old. Here's what Marcus Semien did in the same league as a 22 year old: .290/.420/.483, 15 HR, 21 2B, 5 3B, 20 SB, 80% SB%, 17.4% BB%, 13.7% K% ...and some people here are talking about packaging Marcus Semien up like he's some two pump chump. I happen to really like Marcus Semien, but I think he's a slightly above average player at his peak, probably a .250/.330/.420 type of player with nice versatility around the field. I think Schebler is probably a similar OPS player but with fewer walks and more XBHs. Like I said, Schebler's a nice prospect. He's not nice enough to get Alexei when the White Sox are the ones who are holding all the leverage in these negotiations. I like what you say here and agree about Semien as well. What about something like Schebler and Arruebarrena for Alexei? To me, that sounds like a lot but I admit that I do not see Alexei's value the way most on this board do. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 04:50 PM) jeeze this is like the other thread, some fans are really undervaluing Lexi and really undervaluing the fact of how great of a position the sox are. the sox are holding all the cards. they can and will extract the most that they can. This could be what's going on now. First the Mets, then the Yanks and now the Dodgers. Maybe Hahn is stirring things up a bit to see if a team will blow him away. Create a little bit of a bidding war.
  8. Fans are well within their right to criticize this signing. I like it because Duke is a better option than what the Sox currently have from the left side, the pen needs any/ all help it can get and at least Duke isn't some broken down pitcher on the mend looking for an opportunity. Could he be the next Downs? Sure, but he could also be a good back of the pen reliever as well. I'll let Duke determine that for me when he takes the mound in 2015.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 04:21 PM) Then there's no reason for the White Sox to make that move. Schebler could be a starter in 2016 but his numbers don't scream or jump out at you. He's not a bad prospect, but he's not worth Alexei Ramirez. Basically, the Sox have no reason to move Alexei. If they move him, they are going to get a very good, top prospect in return or a very nice package of prospects. .280 BA, .365 OBP, 28 HR, 14 3B and 23 2B doesn't jump out at you? You are difficult to please... I realize these numbers are from AA but still.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 04:17 PM) Well, where there's smoke there's fire. Looks like the Sox are going to move Lexi. My questions ... Semien is a lousy fielder at short, right? So he can't play there. Leury and Sanchez can't play, right? It's kind of scary having nobody to replace Lexi that can hit a lick and can field a lick. Maybe the Sox and Dodgers get creative with something along the lines of... Schebler, Arruebarrena and Crawford for Alexei, Danks and Beck? Don't know how close that is, just throwing it out there. Arruebarrena ( defensive whiz) replaces Alexei at SS, Schebler and Crawford take LF/ DH. That leaves one of Sanchez/Johnson/Semien taking over 2B with one of those three being used in a trade.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 04:07 PM) That would involve unloading two of their high priced OFs, which ain't happening. Why not? The Dodger are trying to get under 190M to avoid luxury taxes in 2015 and if that's going to happen they NEED to get rid of two high priced outfielders which has been speculated already. Let's say they trade Crawford and Schebler to the Sox and Ethier somewhere else. That leaves the Dodgers with an outfield of Kemp, Puig, Pederson and Van Slyke as the fourth outfielder. I'm not saying this will happen but it is certainly possible.
  12. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 04:01 PM) Well that and the fact that they really want to clear payroll. Plus don't they still have another outfield prospect on the way? Plus Puig Ethier Kemp Crawford are all under contract for 3+ years so its unlikely they more than one. If I remember right, Schebler is that prospect that's on the way plus I think there's a kid in the lower minor levels as well. I think its possible we see something like Alexei and Danks for Schebler, one of Crawford/ Ethier and a low level prospect.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 02:53 PM) Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 13m13 minutes ago #DBacks are reportedly targeting James Shields in free agency. Story via @Brian_Baker_: http://sbnation.com/e/7006846 QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 03:25 PM) Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 2m2 minutes ago #Phillies are reportedly researching #RedSox prospects, fueling Cole Hamels trade rumors. Story: http://sbnation.com/e/7007344 Uh no. This simply cannot be. The cubs are going to get both players!
  14. First off, no chance of Pederson coming back for Alexei, that's just beyond unreasonable. The Dodgers are trying to make room for Pederson, not trade him. I'm hoping the Sox are focused on some kind of package around Schebler.
  15. I like the idea of LaRoche and certainly won't complain if the Sox were to sign him but I do prefer the idea of rotating four starting outfielders through the DH spot. We will see what happens.
  16. I was out snow plowing blast winter in the Chicago burbs and its sucked! That said, I would rather deal with a cold snowy winter than Texas summer heat.
  17. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 12:31 PM) Anyone think they may have something else to announce later as well? What's the point of waiting to announce it? I have the same feeling my man. Something bigger is juuuust over the horizon.
  18. I've read a few different articles about Arruebarrena and they said the same thing, Arruebarrena's offense needs work but he is supposedly a defensive whiz. If the Sox received Arruebarrena as part of a package, Arruebarrena immediately becomes the Sox best bet at playing SS in 2015.
  19. Duke may not be the best available reliever but I take him over Snoddy and Surkamp any day. Surkamp would appear to be slowly coming around but I have no faith in Snoddy. I'm happy with the Duke signing.
  20. I'll take a guess. Alexei and Danks for Arruebarrena, Schebler and Ethier.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 01:54 AM) If they can clear 2 of 3 (Kemp, Ethier, Crawford) off their payroll, then they're definitely in play for Scherzer. Maybe JUST Kemp. Last I read the Dodgers were looking to drop payroll to below 190M. Signing Scherzer while getting below 190M to avoid the luxury tax will be a hell of a trick to pull off. To afford Scherzer, the Dodgers need to get their current payroll down to the 160-165M range.
  22. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 11:46 PM) Hammels is $110 million. Teams will give $20 mill easy to save their prospects. I'm trying to figure out who exactly which team pay Scherzer what Boras wants. Good point. Its likely Hamel's goes nowhere until Scherzer, Lester and Shields are off the market. Why give 3 or four prospects when you can sign a free agent and give up only one draft pick? As for Scherzer. I have no clue as to who will go 6+ years and 150+M for him. The Yanks have already said no, the Dodgers are trimming payroll, I doubt the Tigers have the money though I could be wrong, maybe Boston? I think its possible Scherzer may have to lower his demands.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 08:23 PM) Loney is Lonely in TB these days? I don't get where you're coming from....
  24. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 01:34 PM) It would be awesome if the Cubs come up empty handed Yes! QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 02:22 PM) IF so you would think Buehrle would be heavily shopped Supposedly the Jays already are and are rumored to be willing to send money with Buehrle.
