After four brutal years of Dunn, I would love to see Wilkins get a shot at some point this year or ST next year.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 03:32 PM) He was plenty overworked this season, he threw 98.2 innings in college this season already and with some pretty high pitch counts in a few outings. Throwing every 5 days will help him get on schedule and still finish the season at around 130 IP. I agree but in a sense it goes with what I'm saying as well. Next season would bridge the gap between the 130 IP this hear and say 160-170 IP at the mlb level in 2016. But hey, if he can adjust quicker than that I'm all for it. I'm just trying not to expect too much is all.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 02:43 PM) They're actually going to have him working every 5 days for the rest of this season out of the bullpen. Right but the pen will only build up so much arm strength. He very well may need a majority of the 2015 season or longer for his whole body to adjust to the workload of more starts and a longer season. I'm just trying to keep my expectations in check.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 02:36 PM) I don't see why not. I highly doubt, unless he absolutely bombs, they couldn't "dump" Danks whenever Rodon is ready....And I'm not 100% convinced Rodon will even be in the 2015 rotation at any point....Remember if he follows the same path Sale did, Sale pitched 2 years of relief before starting. Good point on Rodon. Coming out of college and pitching once a week will take him some time to adjust to pitching every 5 days. Plus he will need some time to build up the endurance for a longer season with more starts. No need to rush.

QUOTE (peavy44 @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 02:28 PM) Ok then go after justin masterson This I can definitely see. Maybe coop would be able to help him get back on track. I like this idea much more.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 02:26 PM) A 5 year deal to a 33 year old pitcher? Ugh. Shoot me. Be me to it.
-
QUOTE (peavy44 @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 02:25 PM) Then u go to 5 years For a pitcher who will turn 33 in December? For the love of god NO! This would go against everything Hahn has said to this point.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 01:48 PM) And there you have the reason why the Sox can never do a Cubs style rebuild. White Flag was 17 years ago. Seriously right! Let it go already. The Sox are more than 3 1/2 games out of first.
-
I do like the idea of trading Danks without having much to fill his shoes but if Hahn feels he can get a return that helps this teams system, then I'm not going to complain. To this point I feel Hahn has earned that trust.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 22, 2014 -> 11:24 AM) Danks for Eric Jagielo and Aaron Judge. Just sweep their entire 2013 1st RD class. But seriously, I would love to have Aaron Judge. A gigantic OF who has been drawing a ton of walks so far. I like this idea. I looked him up and you're right, he is a monster. Looks to be on the same pace as Tim Anderson. If his power developed he would love hitting on the south side. Good call dude, I hadn't heard of him til you brought him up.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 21, 2014 -> 05:14 PM) Green? I hope so. Beckham isn't hitting and hasnt been for a little bit now. I'd do Beckham for Milone in a second, though I think a low level spect may have to go with Beckham to Oakland. Im not sure how Milone would do at the cell but after all the pitching we've seen come and go, why not?

Rasmus did nothing wrong and in fact trying to extend the inning for the next batter in the lineup is how the game is played. Especially with only a two run lead. Grow pair Lewis!

QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Jul 20, 2014 -> 10:04 AM) I'm still waiting for your counter argument. So you want me to reiterate what's been said by others and myself over the last three pages?
-
Welcome Thompson . If Paulino is headed to the 60 day DL, I think maybe the Sox end up releasing him in the near future.
-
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 10:53 PM) I've provided my stats. I rest my case. Calling me dumb doesn't make you convincing. No, I said the idea of trading Danks so the Sox can pick up Jackson is dumb. Nice try at playing the victim though.
-
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 09:48 PM) Can you tell me something that Danks actually does well, other than having a horseshoe up his ass? I'll take the horseshoe over Jackson anytime. So your solution is bring a guy back that we couldn't wait to show the door? Just plain dumb. I'm not against getting rid of Danks, but the point is to improve which Jackson does not do.
-
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 08:14 PM) Yep. Like Danks and his 3.46 BBs/9. Or like Jackson's 4.0 BB/9 ? If youre going to cherry pick, at least cherry pick the stats that support your argument and not others.

I'm not drunk but I am drinking. Got my lady next to me, a beer in front of me, music on the computer and Sox baseball. Life is good. Surprised TUC doesn't post in this thread.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 04:08 PM) Can't tell if you are kidding or not, Andy. One of those guys will be available in off season, especially if they re-sign Cuddyer. Cargo is still struggling, going 0 for 5 last night, all strikeouts. Good grief! 5 times! I know 4 k's is the golden sombrero so what's 5 called? I really do not remember.

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 04:08 PM) I agrtee, but wee are also a domwngrade from what you would call a good solid baseball team & so why not look at add prospects? But I agree though, that's the conundrum of any s***ty team, you want to get better, not worse, but sometimes you have to get worse now to get better later? Where do you draw the line? I dont know Roostifer, I really don't know. I draw the line at Jax. I kid I kid. I like that your thinking outside the box and in fact that's what I like about ya TUC, you aren't afraid to throw some s*** at a wall and see what sticks. My line of thinking is Jax and Danks are close enough that I would rather keep what we have rather than going back to banging the old whore we used to bang. The Sox dumped that hagg for a reason right?
-
QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 02:29 PM) I'll trust the Sox's judgement, but generally improving our talent level, especially in the outfield sounds good to me. I see it the same way. Would be interesting to see what kind of hell he and Eaton could raise at the top of the order. I'm curious as to just how serious the Sox interest is. Guess we will find out soon enough.
-
QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 10:21 AM) Indeed. Stuff like this happens all around baseball and I'm glad it's found its way here. I was saying it all last year, or perhaps it was just the offseason, this team needed guys like Moises down in that dugout. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 11:04 AM) Seconded. A transition away from Paulie-style seriousness as new clubhouse leadership comes to the fore is not a bad thing, and doesn't require a loss of professionalism. QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 11:25 AM) Reminds me of the Dodgers .gifs I've seen with Puig and Ryu "harassing" Uribe. Feeding him bananas and doing the King Kong chest pounds. Uribe takes it all in good fun, though. Well said gents. IMO, the team needs this and this is one thing that's been missing.

QUOTE (peavy44 @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 11:58 AM) NO NO NO NO This right here. Jax is a downgrade from Danks. Enough said.
