  1. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 11:10 AM) He sucks now. His home/away splits were dreadful last year and average to below average every season since 2013. And we think this will improve with him being another year older and removing him from Coors/NL? Why bother? Complete waste of a roster spot in 2018. Agree with you and DA. I can see where people are coming from in wanting to sign Moustakas since he plays 3B but CarGo? Nah, the Sox have plenty of outfielders and DH's.
  2. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 07:46 PM) Thanks, didn't know that Disregard the post above. I had not scrolled far enough to see your question had been answered.
  3. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Feb 20, 2018 -> 07:01 PM) Which Rondon, Jose or Bruce? My guess is Bruce since he was in the same division...do they have an issue or something? Bruce hit Moustakas during the game in which KC and Detroit brawled.
  4. Not sure if this was mentioned but Rondon and Moustakas could make for an interesting club house. Depending on the deal, I would not object to signing Moustakas. No opt-out though.
  5. This is a decent compromise between Boston and Martinez. A front loaded contract makes sense for a 30 year old DH/RF. Now the opt-out is debatable but in this case, given Martinez' age and position, I don't think the opt-out is so bad. From Boston's POV, if Martinez does opt-out, say after the '19 season, that's a bunch of money coming off the books that they can in turn use to make a push for Arenado.
  6. I think Nicky ends up at 1B with Abreu moving to DH.
  7. Lol, TMZ must have taken the day off or is it just another manic Monday? Nothing to see, hear or read into. Moving along.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 16, 2018 -> 10:59 AM) Not official yet but seems likely. I know Nunez isn't the big bat Boston is looking for but with the stance the Red Sox have taken with Martinez, it should be interesting to see if signing Nunez has any impact on the Martinez negotiations.
  9. Went with Cordell based on the potential in his bat and , IIRC, can play a passable CF. He's a long shot but what the hell.
  10. Too many wasted words on obvious trolling. Two things, 1) the development of the players is the most important thing and 2) having a small payroll will come in handy when it's time to fill in the gaps. Whining about the 2019 opening day payroll on 2/14/18 is just absurd.
  11. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 12, 2018 -> 06:37 PM) What does this even mean? Lol To me it means the beaten horse is dead and time to give it a kings funeral. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 12, 2018 -> 06:50 PM) What’s an “expensive” rebuild? 2009-2016? But having Miguel Cabrera instead of the Tigers? Ha ha, Kenny's " rebuilding/retooling on the fly" QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 12, 2018 -> 07:11 PM) Yup, paying $50M for Luis Robert is rebuilding as cheaply as possible. When does this clown get the boot? I've mentioned Robert every time the " cheap " nonsense comes up and have yet to get a reply. A few people want to spend spend spend but fail to name logical free agents to spend on that fit into the plan. Whiners gonna whine.
  12. QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 10, 2018 -> 03:48 PM) I hear they are taking applications. You should apply. Bazinga! Because Lester/Heyward/Darvish accounting for 80M+ per year is something to behold and admire. Like Heyward, cubs fans will come to regret this contract soon enough.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 10, 2018 -> 01:44 PM) 1) they are rebuilding 2) they are rebuilding 3) they are rebuilding, and nobody cares about David Robertson’s feelings when he is a reliever making 10+ million a year Lol. Yeah, Robertson looked absolutely miserable pitching in the post season last year for a team that's expected to make the post season again this year. He ain't going anywhere until he's a FA.
  14. Darvish is a nice addition to the cubs rotation but that contract will not be as nice a few years from now.
  15. Wow, this is a fantastic addition to the Sox organization.
  16. Adam Drake Dunn LaRoche is surprisingly still available. Any objections?
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 7, 2018 -> 09:40 AM) Here's what I will now be bearish on: Any pitcher that starts camp not throwing. I won't believe sox if they say they are just phasing them in. I'll now assume some discomfort they haven't identified. You're not wrong and you won't be alone.
  18. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Feb 7, 2018 -> 09:07 AM) Wait till the first time someone gets rocked a bit in a meaningless B game where they are working on a pitch. Or some B level minor leaguer hits .450 and they want that guy to supplant Moncada. Spring training is all about overreactions. You mean we won't be seeing Davidson (2-4 2HR 2K) move Yolmer (1-4 2B) to second and Yolmer moving Moncada to CF because Moncada went 0-4 3K in a ST game? Well that's just f***ed up, lol.
  19. QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 6, 2018 -> 05:48 PM) Tony, we've talked about this over the weekend... SHOW ME THE MONEY!
  20. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Feb 6, 2018 -> 02:59 PM) This site is way more enjoyable if you put this poster on ignore. If he's not a troll, then he's the Soxtalk version of a WSCR caller during Mike North hosted programs. I'm not sure which is worse between a deliberate instigator or a natural idiot, but the "ignore" option keeps me from having to deal with either option. I hear ya but greggster is Soxtalk's version of this guy... QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 6, 2018 -> 05:23 PM) Leave raBBit out of this
  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 6, 2018 -> 02:19 PM) According to? ... the greggster. He's been peering into his seeing eye rabbit hole again.
  22. Thanks but no thanks on Moustakas. Rather keep the draft pick and take my chances with Yolmer while praying Burger sticks at 3rd.
  23. QUOTE (AJUribe @ Feb 4, 2018 -> 03:47 PM) 2 words: Ichiro Suzuki. Still got plenty of tread on those tires. Why? The Sox have plenty of options for the OF and DH.
