  1. QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 4, 2018 -> 12:22 AM) STOP
  2. We all know how good the food is a GRF, Hasler is going to have to keep a close eye on Rondon if Robson makes the team.
  3. QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 11:54 PM) But it notz my money!!1 sign him! Dude. We need to create a meme with Alice falling down the rabbit hole with money swirling around her.
  4. QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 11:54 PM) But it notz my money!!1 sign him! Valid point. I change my tune. SIGN HOLLAND NOW!!!! Yeehaa!
  5. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Feb 3, 2018 -> 12:15 AM) The Dodgers could give two flying f**** about staying under the luxury tax after this year. They just want to get under this year so that the penalties reset, which will save them money that they can use on the luxury tax payments when all the above increases happen. And when the Dodgers go back over the tax threshold, how do you propose they will get back under again if they sign Harper and extend Kershaw? Those two players alone will cost around 70M annually and probably more. That's more than 1/3 of the Dodger payroll wrapped up in two players. Sure, they can go back over again but then they will have to figure out how to get back under, just like they did this winter.
  6. QUOTE (credezcrew24 @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 11:17 PM) You're acting like it's a bad thing for teams to have a player that is good enough to get 10 million in their first year of arbitration Not at all. Let's not forget the Dodgers had to lay out a plan for the commissioners office to get under the threshold. Then add in the possibility of Kershaw opting out after the '18 season which would be very costly to future Dodger payrolls and as Balta pointed out, Seager's eventual salary spike and the Dodgers reported interest in Harper. If the dodgers are to remain under the threshold while extending Kershaw/paying Seager and signing Harper, they have more than their work cut out for them. To the Dodgers I say, good luck with that.
  7. At 32, I can see how Holland would be a waste of money for the Sox if these projections are close. His age and contract demands do not coincide with the rebuilding White Sox. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/01/free...eg-holland.html
  8. QUOTE (wrathofhahn @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 09:35 PM) They can moan and groan all they want but GM's are just smarter now. It's not like team payrolls aren't going up they are just being smarter with how they devote their resources. Agreed and as many have pointed out already, numerous bad contracts have paved the way to the situation at hand. I'm all for owners spending money, just not stupidly.
  9. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/02/tony...-offseason.html This would appear to be getting worse. I love baseball and I was happy to welcome baseball back in April of 95 after the strike. However, if that s*** were to happen again, f*** the owners and players, I would would wash my hands of the sport for good. Going on strike hurts the fans and fans only. Let's hope the owners and players pull their heads out of their asses.
  10. I like the idea and in theory it's pretty sound. However, Hahn has been very shrewd in his trades which leads me to believe Hahn's asking price in a deal for Kemp would be more than the Dodgers are willing to pay. The Dodgers are more desperate to trade Kemp than the White Sox are for prospects and Hahn would surely exploit that.
  11. Decisions decisions. Padres or Royals? Have fun with that Hosmer.
  12. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Jan 29, 2018 -> 12:36 PM) Goddammit. My point exactly.
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 29, 2018 -> 12:17 PM) I agree that Avi’s days are probably numbered. If Delmonico can show his 2017 stint wasn’t a complete fluke, he quickly makes Avi even more expendable. Having said that, I don’t want to completely rule anything out. If Avi suddenly hits 30+ HRs I may just want to keep him around That would make for a very interesting discussion in July if Avi's power comes around. Would be a nice conundrum to have, keep Avi or not to keep Avi, that is the question.
  14. Not surprising seeing as how so many people are easily offended these days. I'll have to pick up a hat with Chief Wahoo while they are still being made.
  15. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 29, 2018 -> 11:49 AM) I called it a year ago, but with the Marlins having three more desirable OFs that they ultimately sold (plus McCutchen & free agent options), the market just wasn’t going to be there for Avi. We got to hope he can add some power and offset the likely BABIP regression. Then he becomes a potential trade chip at the deadline or a guy worth considering locking up long-term. Agreed and when the deadline comes around the Sox will have a better idea of how close Eloy is. Plus, it gives the Sox time to evaluate the progress of Robert and Adolfo. I think Adolfo began turning the corner last year and I'm suspecting a breakout from him this year. IMHO, with the amount of young OF talent in the system, Avi's days are numbered on the south side.
  16. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jan 26, 2018 -> 09:00 AM) This is my dream come true. I HATE the Sox being on WLS. The reception is terrible even on the eastern side of Schaumburg and there is virtually no talk of the Sox outside of the games and White Sox Weekly podcast. The White Sox need to be on a sports station. I'm sick of the Score, which has turned into WCUB. I heard Bernstein and Bruce Levine discussing the White Sox yesterday and almost fainted. Put the White Sox back on ESPN 1000. Please. Well come on over to the west side of Schaumburg then. Reception is decent and the beer tastes better too.
  17. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 28, 2018 -> 12:18 PM) (Continues to overlook the point of rebuilding) Funny thing is, is that if the rumors were flipped and it was reported the Sox had no interest in Machado or Yelich this winter, these same people would be complaining about it. Whiners are gonna whine. One thing ignored is that Hahn has said repeatedly they would continue to seek players that can be apart of the next contender and come with long term control. Yelich fits that and until Machado made clear that he would not sign an extension, so did he. I see no inconsistencies whatsoever coming from Hahn.
  18. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 27, 2018 -> 12:37 PM) Eloy is the bes... https://twitter.com/iclarkin/status/893659756077961216 Steven Pearcy would agree.
  19. QUOTE (Quin @ Jan 27, 2018 -> 12:05 PM) Alright, Cozy Bear. Calm down. Well done, I actually laughed out loud. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 27, 2018 -> 08:53 PM) Well, I mean I think the biggest difference is that the White Sox don’t receive revenue sharing dollars Yeah, it's sad this had to be pointed out, a few times.
  20. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 27, 2018 -> 04:21 PM) Oh STFU Kenley. Agreed. Punish millions of baseball fans for the sake of a handful of aging vets who's contract expectations are ridiculous to begin with. Yeah, that would great for baseball Kenley.
  21. I agree with Boras that the number of rebuilding teams is hurting the FA market but that's not the only reason. There are numerous examples ( take your pick ) of players that were signed at their peak to long term contracts and end up becoming an albatross. So rebuilding teams aren't the only reason for this, as Boras would like us to believe. IMHO, it's misdirection on his part to ignore the numerous examples ( some his own clients ) of horrible contracts that teams regret.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 25, 2018 -> 09:42 PM) Brewers insider claiming they are working on two trades. Santana to an AL team tomorrow and one other. Wonder if the Brewers try to get Kipnis with Salazar.
  23. Really like how the Cardinals and Brewers have improved their rosters this winter. If cub fans aren't scared, they should be. Now the Brewers need to add a SP and they are looking really good. Well done Brewers, keep it up.
  24. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 16, 2018 -> 08:34 PM) No he isn’t. He may be better than Sanchez, but by how much? I see absolutely zero reason to acquire him. Not by much at all after looking at BR. Harrison has a little more pop but that's about it. I'll take the 25 year old slick fielding Sanchez over Harrison any day. I like Harrison but I like Sanchez more.
