  1. Heyman saying four are heading to Pitt with Moran and Musgrove being the main pieces. Luhnow's patience is paying off big time.
  2. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/01/twin...dison-reed.html Twinkies and Addison Reed agree for 2/16.75M. Nice deal for the Twinkies.
  3. After Donaldson agreed on 23M for the final year of his arbitration, now Machado and the Orioles are going to go to arbitration. Smart move by Machado. Manny was projected for 17.3M but that number will be going up for sure.

  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 12, 2018 -> 10:45 AM) This is what polls were made for. I went with Gonzalez. I liked watching him pitch more than Shields, and I don't want any of the Rookies having to pitch in that setting without having seen it from the bench once. Agree with ya keeping Giolito, Lopez and Fulmer as 3,4,5 in the rotation. I prefer MiGo myself but think Renteria goes with Shields.
  6. This is a cruel reminder Balta. Not cool, man. My vote is to bring Mark Buehrle out of retirement to pitch opening day. OK, seriously. I could go either way with MiGo and Shields. My guess is Renteria goes with Shields opening day followed by MiGo, Giolito, Lopez, Fulmer. Edit: went ahead and voted Shields. Man, that really hurts to say.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jan 12, 2018 -> 09:08 AM) This thread is Greg's masterpiece. His Mona Lisa Truly a toilet mural. I call it ' green apple splatters '.
  8. QUOTE (asindc @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 11:42 AM) Well, DD has done it before with the Ordonez signing. I wonder if Boras will go into mourning if DD retires before he does. Good one!
  9. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 02:24 PM) It's Rodon and he should be back by June at the latest. Kopech will be starting in AAA. The rotation is likely: Shields/Giolito/Lopez/Gonzalez/Fulmer to start the year. Rodon will take a spot at some point. Michael Kopech will take a spot at some point. Yeah, I can see Rodon bumping Fulmer ( sorry Carson ) to the pen and Kopech replacing Shields once Shields is traded/moved to the pen/released.
  10. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 11:02 AM) I'd give them 24-hours to accept my offer. If he doesn't accept, pull it. They (JD and Boras) will come crawling back. Same here but the thing is Boras knows DD is desperate and has done nothing this off season to bolster their offense.
  11. Love it. Happy to see Miguel back on the south side. Hopefully this means Covey becomes the long relief arm in the pen.
  12. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/01/jd-m...cks-latest.html With a lack of reported interest in Martinez, I wonder if Boras convinces to DD to bid against himself. Isn't that kind of what happened with AZ and Grienke?
  13. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 09:32 AM) Bet the house on it! That depends on who's house is on the line. BTW. How many fricken houses are left in the pool to bet with? I would imagine they have to run out at some point, right?
  14. QUOTE (ron883 @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 09:09 AM) Really going out on a limb here huh Hi8is ( sorry bud, just can't resist ) is just playing some strong infield defense with his post by covering all the bases!
  15. I prefer to look at Soria this way. If he sucks he's helping the Sox get a better draft position in '19 but if he's good he presents the possibility of bringing back a quality prospect or two in July. Hopefully, Soria sees this as an opportunity to close for a rebuilding team that would happily trade him to a contender in July. Win win for everyone.
  16. QUOTE (Blackout Friday @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 10:27 PM) I understand why the Tigers would trade him, but not why we would want him for the lack of team control you mentioned. Yep. Castellanos had a career year in '17 so I wouldn't expect the cost to be cheap. Not interested in helping the Tigers in their rebuild either. Luckily, it's just a rumor and likely nothing more.
  17. QUOTE (Tony @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 01:07 AM) We need a meme duel between you and hi8is. You guys crack me the f*** up. Moving along. Nice trade all the way around. Hahn picked up two quality relievers + 3M for Peter. I see nothing to complain about.
  18. Those look like some very strong hands and forearms. Nice swing!
  19. QUOTE (BurlyMan56 @ Dec 30, 2017 -> 08:10 AM) The Luis Robert Instagram feed is now unwatchable. I had to unfollow. Never seen a man take as many selfies and videos of himself doing absolutely nothing but admiring himself in a mirror. Total narcassist. So you're saying he's adapted to the American way of life quickly?
  20. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 27, 2017 -> 05:58 PM) Look at these contracts. their length and the ages of their highest-paid players. https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/SF...contracts.shtml That's pretty ugly. I know SF battled a ton of injuries last year but they need everything to go right next year to be competitive. The third place Rockies won 87 games last year. That's 23 games the Giants need to make up just to get back to third place. Lol, good luck.
  21. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Dec 27, 2017 -> 02:08 PM) They have won 3 titles. I'd say they're doing all right I'm talking about the shape that team is currently in and the direction it's heading. SF has some bad contracts and no farm. Their fans are in for a long rebuild when it happens.
  22. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 27, 2017 -> 01:39 PM) Reality is going to bite them like a b****. So many bloated contracts on that team. It's almost a blessing that they didn't get Stanton. I really feel for their fans. The giants are in about the same shape as the cubs were when Theo took over. I think SF might even have more bad contracts than the cubs did. I'd call SF desperate but I think it's beyond that now.
  23. Nothing overly exciting, but it's baseball. https://www.mlb.com/news/giants-talking-to-...ton/c-264029368 When the time comes for the Giants to rebuild, and it will be soon, that will be one long rebuild. Seriously, that team should be selling, not buying.
  24. Don't see the point but if for some reason the Sox signed Ichiro, I wouldn't complain.
  25. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 26, 2017 -> 07:22 PM) In what world are the Sox loaded with right handed pitching? Pretty sure reference is to starting pitching. Shields, Fulmer, Lopez, Giolito, Covey is your starting five until we know what's up with Rodon. After those five there's Kopech, Hansen, Dunning and Cease. There's a lot of RH depth. LH depth is Jordan Guerrero, Ian Clarkin and Bernardo Flores. None of which are ranked nearly as high as the RH depth. There's definitely a shortage of LH starting pitchers in the Sox organization.
