  1. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 22, 2017 -> 03:46 PM) Well done, Get it up there now!!!
  2. Makes alot of sense. Burger will be in A ball, Trey at Birmingham, so somebody has to play third for Charlotte.
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 22, 2017 -> 05:40 AM) Well right after the season, his demands will be probably be higher than he will get. Anyone know who his agent is? Machado's agent is Dan Lozano. He's the agent that got Pujols that insane contract with LAA.
  4. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 22, 2017 -> 12:21 AM) Good point - hadn't considered that angle before! And you said you were a geometry major.
  5. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) 3B is a pretty glaring org hole, and the second best free agent in next year's class, who will be 26 at the time, just so happens to play 3B. Machado matches this team's needs so perfectly it doesn't make sense for the White Sox to not pursue him, and most teams who would hand out the kind of contact he'll want have their 3B situation resolved. It's a match, on paper. We don't know how many years or how much money he's looking for and then there's opt-outs to take into consideration. I'd like to get a better idea of what he's looking before I say I want him. I would definitely talk to his agent after the 2018 WS finishes up to get an idea of what he's looking for.
  6. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 04:31 AM) Damn straight it ain't sexy but the future for the Chicago White Sox sure is! Yes it is. We're watching a future contender being rebuilt from the ground up and it's pretty damn cool. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 08:09 AM) I just want to point out that the payroll for this proposed roster would be like $25M to $30M. You got plenty of room to add free agents even if you think Machado is an unrealistic target. I hear ya. I just don't want to assume the Sox sign anyone like Machado. We all know that not every prospect will fulfill their projections so the Sox will have to to spend on free agents to fill in the holes, and I'm sure they will. I'm just not sure what those holes will be.
  7. I'll give the 2019 roster a shot. Won't be the sexiest but here goes. 1B Zach Collins 2B Yoan 3B Yolmer SS TA LF Ryan Cordell CF Leury RF Eloy C Seby Zavala DH Delmonico Bench: Narvaez, Saladino, Engel, May Rotation: Rodon, Kopech, Giolito, Lopez, Hansen. If Rodon is still having problems everyone moves up a slot with Dane Dunning moving into the 5th spot. Bullpen: Vieria, Burdi, Fulmer, Clark, Fry, D.Dunning. I think Abreu and Avi are gone by then be t I won't speculate as to the return. Also don't want to assume the Sox go after Manny Machado so I left him out of the mix. Plus, I think the Sox see Jake Burger as their future 3B and will have Yolmer continue to play 3B until Burger is ready. I think what could be even more interesting is forecasting the 2020 lineup when names such as Robert, Adolfo, Burger, Cease, Sheets, Rutherford, Basabe, Clarkin start coming into the picture.
  8. I can understand Saladino with him being able to play 3B, 2B and SS which makes his versatility valuable. What gets me is guys like Hanson, May, Albuquerque and Farquhar being kept over Guerrero and Polo.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 09:23 PM) True, we should save the rule 5 for can’t miss prospects It's not about can't miss prospects. It's about will Pentecost be good enough to stay on the MLB roster for the entire season? If he had a strong arm or if his bat was further developed I'd be all over the idea.
  10. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 08:18 PM) Why would we protect covey over Guerrero, polo or Peter? Pentecost, demerrite, Peterson, Stewart, feyereisen are Interesting names Demeritte is a position player I'd be really interested in.
  11. I'd laugh if Arrieta signed with Milwaukee. The amount of b****ing by cub fans would be hilarious. Just like with Fowler when he signed with STL. The Yanks could always try Lou Piniella, again. Seriously though, based on the little I've read on the Yanks managerial search, I'd say Meulens is their best bet for the job. According to quotes I've read from, he looks to a have a great understanding on how important it is for the manger to communicate with his players.
  12. Pentecost had surgery on the same shoulder two years in a row, has a weak arm for a catcher, hasn't played above A+ ball and will be 25 next March. I can see why he's unprotected. Pass.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 06:12 AM) About time Yep, He Gone!
  14. QUOTE (Quin @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 06:31 PM) Agreed. Albuquerque and Hanson can go for Guerrero and Polo Makes sense. Especially if the Sox think they might trade Avi, I can see keeping W.Garcia and his strong arm for RF.
  15. I don't like not protecting Guerrero or Polo. I think Guerrero could become a Zach Duke type MR for the Sox. Drop two of Willy G/ Hanson/Albuquerque and add Guerrero/Polo.
  16. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 12:17 PM) Stanton makes zero sense for the White Sox. Their OF of the future is pretty shored up. It's 3B that poses the biggest long term concern (enter Manny Machado next offseason). Yeah, that looks more like a list of non-potential suitors. Must be a slow day and Dan has begun his holiday cheer a bit early.
  17. This is becoming very interesting. The Giants have and are willing to spend the money and the Cards have the prospects. Hopefully Stanton ends up in SF or Boston so the Cards shift their attention to Avi. Really like what the Cards have to offer in a trade.
  18. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Nov 19, 2017 -> 01:02 PM) Just saw a Boston writer last week speculate they will eventually move Devers to 1st when Hanley goes and bring up or acquire a 3B. So Machado could be a destination if they don't go Stanton. It's possible but it could also have alot to do with Michael Chavis moving through their farm and should be ready by 2019, if not sooner.
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 19, 2017 -> 11:38 AM) Honestly, I really think the market is being set up for a battle between us & the Phillies for Machado and I ultimately think we’d be the preferred destination if the money is equal. Take it for what it's worth but a few days ago I read an interesting blurb about the yanks this off season. The writer speculated the Yanks prefer to move Castro to put Torres at 2ND so they can put Andujar's cannon at 3rd. I kind of laughed to myself at first but then remembered Torres had TJ surgery so maybe the Yanks figure it will be easier on Torres' arm playing 2ND. From the sound of it, the yanks are rather high on Andujar so it possible they see him as their 3B of the future. Which bodes well for us White Sox fans that want to sign Machado next winter.
  20. Damn, this sucks. One of the first albums I bought as a kid was Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. RIP Malcolm and thanks for the rockin' tunes!
  21. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 17, 2017 -> 08:44 PM) Look into some video on him - dude's a freak. I'd LOVE to pick him up for Avi. Same here and I'm sure Hahn would be asking for Lazarito as part of the package for Avi. Find a way to snag Clint Frazier from NY, add Lazarito to him, Moncada and Kopech and all the ladies in Chicago would go crazy. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Nov 18, 2017 -> 10:50 AM) You can't trade Avi unless you are getting a s***load of a haul. It's tough to get future HOFers and you don't give them away. Be smart Rick. He's an integral part of our 2019 World Series championship team.
  22. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 17, 2017 -> 09:10 PM) On the Sox podcast on CSN Chicago Aaron Roward said Aldolfo's arm in RF is up there with Vladdy Guererro and Jesse Barfield. That's high praise right there. Those arms were very strong.
  23. QUOTE (Quin @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 08:18 PM) I'd really prefer they protect Micker if they have the space. Not much reason not to. Agreed and they have the space, or could easily have the space. They could drop any one of... Charlie 'tinman' Tilson, Alan 'Micah2.0' Hanson, Jacob ' Juan Pierre lite' May and Wily 'Kenny' G. I would keep Adolfo over any of those guys.
  24. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 09:04 PM) Apparently Seattle's #8 prospect who throws very hard, reportedly hit 104 once . http://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/white-sox...-intriguing-arm How do you say Ricky Vaughn in Portuguese?
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2017 -> 03:45 PM) They didn't even do that. It was $500k in cap space that Seattle can now spend. The Sox didn't spend a penny of their own money. I didn't look at it that way, makes the trade even better in my eyes. Was watching some video from BA and Vieria threw a couple of nice breaking pitches to go with a few fastballs that touched 102. This kid is a perfect project for Cooper.
