500K for that arm is a cheap price to pay IMHO. Solid move by Hahn.

I don't think the money matters if the Astros are interested in Lucroy. https://www.mlbdailydish.com/2017/11/15/166...jonathan-lucroy

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 05:08 PM) Ozuna would take way more than Avi. I think Avi is a consolation prize they may find easier to acquire. I do not disagree. But if I'm giving up prospects for a player with 2 years of control in an effort to be competitive, I'd go all out for Ozuna. Better yet, since Oakland is willing to give up prospects and wants to truly add to their current core ( 2 years of control doesn't really fit that idea) go bats*** crazy for Yelich ( signed through 2021 with option for '22) who fits the A's future plans better than Avi or Ozuna. I would take the A's reported interest in Avi with a grain of salt.

Pass on Peavy. Rather throw Covey or a rule 5 pick out there to chew up innings until Rodon comes back.

http://m.mlb.com/news/article/261950410/wh...ctive-to-teams/ Goes on to list teams that could be a potential fit for an Avi trade.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 05:00 PM) is this just some writer's speculation? For the life of me I really have no clue why the A's would even remotely consider this?!? I think it is speculation. If I'm the A's, I would use the farm to help acquire Ozuna, not Avi.

I don't think Avi's defense would hold up in the spacious NLW ballparks. I seriously doubt the level of interest by the A's. But, they have plenty of quality prospects to offer so I hope I'm wrong.

I like Dan and think he did a fine job covering the Sox. This really sucks.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 08:41 PM) Boras always shoots for the stars, and despite what seem to be unreasonable expectations, he continually surprises me. I'll bet JD gets something in the realm of 6/$150 That's a good guess. I'm thinking 6/165-170

Shohei Otani is likely coming to the USA

Whatever the score has been drinking and smoking, I'll take a double shot of both. -
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/11/jd-m...king-price.html Those are two reasons why I don't think JD gets that kind of money or contract.

List the free agents you want to see the White Sox target

QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 04:39 PM) Trade scenario. Jose Abreu (To the Cards) for Carson Kelly (To the Sox) STRAIGHT UP. Who says no? The Sox say no. Abreu is worth more than Kelly alone. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 03:56 PM) I'm referring to the Cardinals. It's just Sports radio banter but he's a name they bring up a lot. Carpenter can move around, they just want a middle of the order bat. Thanks for clarifying dude. The Cards have interest in a corner OF and a 1B, plus they have plenty of good prospects. Let's make a deal!
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 03:48 PM) I thought he was referring to Cards. Maybe he was? Didn't think the cards were looking for a 1B with Carpenter already there. Now I'm really confused. Lol.
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 02:40 PM) Oh ya, they'll handle if wonderfully. Next big name talk radio has been talking a lot about down here is...Jose Abreu. Makes sense if Stanton really doesn't want to go to Boston. Abreu is a good fit for Boston.

http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/2140461...-avisail-garcia Looks to me unless a significant offer is made this winter, Hahn is going to wait and see how both players perform in 2018 before deciding on their future with the White Sox. Nothing wrong with that.

RIP Chuck Mosley, former Faith No More front man. Was singer for their first two albums including the song ' We Care a Lot' which is the theme for Mike Rowe's Dirty Jobs. Another from my youth is gone, sad panda. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/chuck-m...-221521841.html

QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 12, 2017 -> 02:30 PM) Moderator A says to Member B, "Do not personally attack posters - it is against board policy." Moderator A later says to Member G, "You're a b****." Of course, this is an exaggerated hypothetical example just to illustrate. Uh oh, now you're in trouble. Should have just said ' poop'.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 12, 2017 -> 01:31 PM) Could have sworn it was $150 at one point, but I stand corrected. Nonetheless, the Sox have shown they are willing to spend money when it's pertinent. The White Sox not spending now has no bearing on how much they will spend in the future. This team isn't good. They shouldn't spend right now. Yep. The same thing happened to Houston during their rebuild. Loria was under constant attack by the fans for not spending. But look what happened when they got their core solidified, they spent to fill in the gaps. Same on the North side of Chicago. Sox fans need to look years down the road. Remember when the salaries of Melky and LaRoche inhibited Hahn from going after some big named free agents just a few years ago? And their salaries weren't that expensive. Plus, if the Sox Max out their payroll now, where does the money come to try and extend core players when the time comes? Cracks me with the " spend baby spend" mentality but when those contracts inhibit moves, it's " WTF were the Sox thinking?".

QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 12, 2017 -> 04:30 AM) Yea man - after having my balls busted for the last time, I've taken my self appointed seat atop "the double standard patrol" throne. Lol, you lost me with the double standard thing.
-
Was just perusing MLBTR and supposedly the Giants might not have enough on the farm to land Stanton but are interested in JBJ. This has three-way between Boston/SF/Miami written all over it.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 12, 2017 -> 02:23 AM) Here's a publications response to the same question posed in this thread - sand free agent signings and trades: https://theloopsports.com/2017/11/08/white-...ing-day-roster/ Still worth a skim, IMO. Interesting read and thanks for posting. If Cordell and Delmonico have a good ST, I think Cordell takes LF and Delmonico shares DH/1B with Abreu. No way I would sit Delmonico to put Davidson in the lineup. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 12, 2017 -> 02:25 AM) Don't feed the bears and take a chill pill man. You're getting pretty worked up for no reason. *cough* Donaldson is more realistic for us IMO *cough* Just spread the love man - even with the greggypoo Ball buster!
