QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 17, 2017 -> 05:23 PM) He'd be much better for our pitching prospects than Narvaez/Smith And it takes time away from Narvaez to work with those pitchers so they learn and grow together. Narvaez will be around beyond one more season, Grandal will not. Plus, what would one year of Grandal cost? Won't be cheap. I'm actually curious to see what another season from Narvaez will bring. He's not bad defensively and has a good eye at the plate, oh and only 25.
-
For one season or less of Grandal? No thanks, I don't see the point.
-
$11 for a buttwiper? Well, nobody said cubs fans were smart.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 17, 2017 -> 04:22 PM) It's not projected to be too windy, over under is only 8. Not as extreme as the 2015 NLDS I'll take the over with a 7-2 Dodger victory tonight.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 17, 2017 -> 05:02 PM) Darvish has been utterly dominant in his last 4 starts (0.74 ERA, 0.49 WHIP, 28/1 K/BB ratio), I'm feeling pretty good about him tonight. Agreed. The way Hendricks pitched in his last outing against the Nat's, cubs fans should be worried about that Dodger lineup with the wind blowing out.
-
Tonight's lineups. http://www.espn.com/mlb/game?gameId=371017116 Let the wind blow out, the Dodgers won't mind.
-
Baez out, Zobrist in at 2B. Schwarber bats #2 so I'd guess he's in LF. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/2105539...angeles-dodgers

Gray vs McCullers at 4:08 CT This could be a high scoring game and a fun one to watch.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 17, 2017 -> 11:04 AM) Yeah that's about as left-handed as I think it will get. Darvish has bad splits against lefties. Maybe Schwarber in LF and Happ at 2B. Schwarber in LF is too much of a defensive liability. I'd keep his bat on the bench to PH for a pitcher.

I get that cubs fans want to shake things up but that's swinging the pendulum too far the other way. For tonight's game against Dervish I would shoot for something like Heyward RF, Jay CF , Happ LF, Rizzo 1B, Zobrist 2B, Russell SS and Bryant 3B. Too me, that shakes things up just enough without going to crazy. That said, Joe Maddon is gonna Joe Maddon so I expect to see the usual suspects tonight. Which is a good thing.

Meh, leave it as is with 30 teams and just nix the A's for Portland and nix the Rays for Montreal. Montreal in the ALE makes much more sense geographically. Tampa (#30) and Oakland (#29) are the cellar dwellers in ticket sales anyway. http://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance

Wow. Yankees sure love home cooking.

QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 16, 2017 -> 03:17 PM) Joe Maddon Keeps Shooting Himself in the Foot http://thebiglead.com/2017/10/16/joe-maddo...lf-in-the-foot/ This quote cracks me up. The game is tied 1-1 in the bottom of the 9th on the road, his offense struggling, his team down 1-0 in the series and he's concerned about getting Davis the save? Talk about putting the cart before the horse. At that point in the game, the most important thing is preserving that 1-1 tie to get to extra innings. Seriously, that's a Dusty Baker move. I think we've all watched enough baseball to know that plenty of managers have used their closer in the 9th to preserve the tie and hope for some offense in extra innings. It's OK Joe Maddon , keep managing like this, it's making us Sox fans quite happy.
-
Very sad to hear about this. RIP Daniel Webb. Best wishes to his friends and family.

QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 15, 2017 -> 10:08 PM) I'm still nervous even though half the horseshoe fell out tonight. Every little thing is gonna be alright. Dervish vs Hendricks Tuesday, I like it. Odd start time though, 8pm CT.

Hell f*** yeah! Purposely didn't watch again and followed along on line. I will continue to not watch in hopes of the Dodgers making this a quick series. So bloody happy I can't stand it!

http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/2102617...es-chicago-cubs What Maddon ignores is that Culberson had every right to run Contreras over like a freight train and should have, but he didn't. But I guess it's easier to blame the rule instead of his own catcher for blocking the plate that caused Culberson to try and avoid a collision that could injure both players. Whiners are going to whine when things do not go their way. No matter what, Maddon would be whining, tis the way of the cubs and their fans. Just like when cubs fans whined about AJ absolutely bulldozing Barrett at home plate when it was Barrett's fault for blocking home plate in the first place. Whaaaaaa!

QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 14, 2017 -> 10:58 PM) What is it with people calling the call at home plate an "athletic play"? Darling said it. Maddon said it in the postgame interview. The guys on the postgame show are saying it. Are people really that surprised Kyle Schwarber can charge a ball and make a good throw or something? I don't get it either. I mean, aren't outfielders supposed to be able to charge the ball and make a good throw? I think this play was far less athletic than the play against the Nat's earlier this week when the Schwab showed off his soccer skills.
-
Well s***. I purposely did not watch because it seems like when I did watch, the cubs won. Now I must respect the win and hopefully the inevitable Dodger win streak. I'll continue to not watch in hopes it brings the Dodgers good luck. Go Dodgers!

QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 08:11 PM) I'll start it off with my suggestion...Maikel Franco from the Phillies. They need pitching and have some infield depth. Wouldn't mind throwing a couple of our pitching prospects at the Phillies if they want to unload Franco. Wouldn't include any of Gio, Lopez, Kopech, Cease, or Hanson though. Who are some young names you'd like to see us acquire for relatively cheap this off season? Greg. You are trolling and very badly I might add. Not only that but you are clearly showing you know nothing about the Sox prospects. But hey, keep ignoring the bolded to suit your victimized narrative so you can continue b****ing about nothing at all. Oh, just a guess but Ron trolled you pretty good and you fell for it.

Karma came back to get Sanchez again last night. Dude took another direct hit to the jock from a foul tip for the second time in the playoffs. Payback for sucker punching Detroit players during a brawl?
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 14, 2017 -> 01:10 PM) He plays outfield for them, not SS. Won't it be k*** at SS now Stuff I've been reading indicates the Dodgers could move Taylor to SS and play Joc in CF. I don't know how Taylor's D is at SS though. Could be a hack for all I know.
-
Losing Seager sucks but Chris Taylor is a pretty damn good fall back option. I don't think the loss is as huge as its initially perceived. Taylor's RH bat might be a big help against against Lester and Q. We will see.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 13, 2017 -> 11:14 PM) It seems to me we've acquired all the prospects we need.I may disagree with the rebuild but what's done is done. We have a projected team to win it all at some point. Trading is DONE. 3B - Burger/Davidson. SS-TA. 2B-Moncada. 1B-Abreu I hope or maybe Gillaspie or somebody. RF-Rutherford. CF-Robert. LF-Eloy C-Collins. Pitchers: We know the names. Get em ready and acquire some vets when it's time to win as well and get some arms for the pen and one veteran stud starter. Is my position that odd? There so many holes in this post I don't know where to begin. Lol, forget I said anything. NASCAR! Vrooom!

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 13, 2017 -> 11:29 PM) Guys, we're in the midst of Cub dynasty. Cubs over the Dodgers to reach the WS. Book it. Don't know how many games yet. Careful. The royals will get jealous if they hear you talking this way. Wouldn't want to upset your other favorite team.
