QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 09:27 AM) Hansen is easily a dude who can and I think will get cut when the time presents itself. Not that I disagree with you but I think May goes before Hanson.

The over reacting in this thread has been a fun read this morning. Thanks for the laughs.

Yep. If a pitcher fades that much in September I can't see how that would go well in the playoffs. Not that surprised by today's outcome.
-
Sale's September starts made me leery of how he would perform in the playoffs. It's just one start against a very good offense but damn did he s*** the bed today. I wonder what Boston fans are saying.
-
Sale not very Boston strong today.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 04:17 PM) Verlander is at 52 after 3. Not that it matters much, he can throw 800 pitches if he needs to. f***ing inhuman beast. how ya think he got his babe?

Following on ESPN game cast. Sale at 46 pitches through 2 innings.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 01:14 PM) Just as I have done a good job of erasing ALR's brief time with the White Sox lol Ha ha, no kidding dude. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 01:44 PM) Might be a good off season topic, most reviled former Sox. I'd have to put La Roche up there near the top. I think we did this last winter, or something like it. Navarro was the undisputed #1, by long shot and deservedly so. I think Paniagua was up there too.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 12:56 PM) ALR's beard was much bushier before he came over. Yeah, I forgot about that. Or, I did a good job of erasing the image from my mind.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 05:54 AM) Facial hair can't be long. Matt Rose had to shave his long beard when he was dealt here (minors). Adam LaRoche had to trim his. I did not know the Sox had done that with LaRoche. I just figured that was the length he liked. It's a stupid rule, they are ball players not business exec's.

Just can't bring myself to pull for the BoSux, so go Astros. The game is on MLBN, sucks to be me. If anyone knows of a link and is willing to share, please send me a PM. Really want to see this game.

AZ heads to LA.
-
Wild game so far. Much better than it started. Hoping Rodney gets his first blown save in the 9th.
-
8-7 AZ in the top of the 8th.
-
Descalso with a 2R HR to make it 6-0 Arizona.
-
Goldy hits a 3R homer for the early lead.
-
Nice intro with Tom Petty's ' Runnin Down a Dream'. Good job TBS. Go Rockies.

Balta, now I remember a bit since you refreshed my memory. Yeah, you f***ing hated the Melky signing. I think you and I went back and forth a few times about him last year or the year before. Ah, good times!
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 04:35 PM) Dude, I f***ing love this. I flat out hated Rick Hahn's moves the last 2 years. I was gone for a month because I was teaching a geology field camp in western Montana for a month and took a good long vacation after that ended. I'm still nervous about trusting Rick Hahn, but the times I stayed away for that reason were in 2015 and 2016. No one wanted to hear me say it was going to fall apart during the first month of 2016 and no one wanted to hear me say I told you so. My bad dude. Not sure where the hell I got that from, was probably thinking back to the FA signings and shark bait trade. DOH!!! Sorry but I have to take some props back from ya since you love the rebuild.

QUOTE (yesterday333 @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 12:13 PM) Harper has already pretty much said no to the yanks. says he hates new York. He also doesn't like their rules on facial hair and hair cuts. I think the White Sox have a similar rule in regards to hair cuts. Facial hair OK, long hair on the head, not OK. Fry had to cut his hair days after his call up. I don't like either and prefer to let the boys be boys.

Just to clarify, are we going to use this thread for the Rockies @ DBacks game tonight? I'm really looking forward to watching that game tonight for sure.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 10:01 AM) The trend seems to be towards the devaluing of prospects in trades. It is taking more and more guys to get big deals done now. I don't know if the trend continues or not, but it will be interesting to see. I want to say this was the first time ever that the #1 overall guy was dealt, and then you added another top 10 guy in Kopech. 1) Players salaries continue to rise 2) payroll cap + luxury tax penalties allow less wiggle room than teams once had in their team payroll 3) more GM's declaring untouchables 4) players appear to be making their debuts at a younger age 5) GM's are looking to extend players before they peak and through their peak year's to avoid paying top dollar for free agents. These things lead be to believe the trend is beginning to change with more emphasis on prospects or at least keeping their top guys. Teams like the Dodgers and Yankees have shown in recent years their reluctance to trade their most coveted prospects which is the opposite of how those teams operated in the past. The Sale trade was so unique that it probably was only going to happen with Boston. There were so many things that had to go right in order for the trade to happen. Here's an interesting hindsight thought. If Boston drafts Fulmer instead of Benintendi, do you think the Sale trade happens? Personally, I don't think it happens because having Benintendi made it easier for Boston to part with Moncada. On a separate issue all together. I give you and Balta mad props for how you both have handled the rebuild. I know you guys weren't fans of the rebuild and I think it's pretty damn cool you both stayed rather chill about it all season long instead of going off the rails. I think when Balta returned over the summer he had said he purposely stayed away so he didn't drag the board down, or something along those lines. Well done gents.

QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 11:54 AM) I'd like to see the Indians win because they've been close 3 times in the last 22 years (twice, extremely close). It would be a good story. Also, I'm not rooting for the Yankees and Red Sox to make the ALCS again. Forget that noise. Cubs? Obviously not. And I'm mostly an AL fan. If it's Astros-Indians and Dodgers-Nationals, I'm cool with anything as long as it's good baseball. But let's just get the Red Sox and Cubs out of there next week. Summed up perfectly.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 07:00 AM) I've now responded to him 3 times this morning. I haven't even had coffee yet haha Uh oh, you're in trouble now. Coffee will only speed up your decent down the hole dude. I'll light a candle for you.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 11:28 PM) that was nasty. reminded me of adrian beltre against the sox. Robertson pitched 3 and a 1/3 scoreless. Kahnle added 2 and a 1/3 more. Good trade by the yankees. Yeah man, Sanchez took a direct hit on that foul tip. Even my wife blurted out " oh damn"! Kahnle was filthy too. Yanks got exactly what they needed in that trade. How about Greene? He was filthy too until he ran out of gas. Yanks pen is really something. That team will be even more scary next year if they can get some starting pitching help. Yikes.
