2-0 Reds in the bottom of the fif.

Sally pinch hitting for Abreu. Cleveland goes to the pen. Obviously scared of Sally.

QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 03:28 PM) Reds up 1-0 after 4. Rob Fn Brantly 2-0 Reds
-
Volstad settled in, good thing he gave up those three runs early.
-
Reds up 1-0 going into the fif.
-
Brantley gets the Sox on the board with a HR.
-
Hoping it goes a little somethin like this... NLWC- Rockies NLDS- Rockies beat Dodgers NLDS- Nat's beat cubs ( gimme a sweep! ) ALWC- Yanks beats Twinkies ALDS- Tribe beats Yanks ALDS- ugh, going with the Astros though I really don't want either to win. NLCS- Nat's beat Rockies ALCS- Tribe beats Houston WS- Tribe vs Nat's. Can't decide who I'd rather see win. Gonna have to come back later and make a choice.

McGuire pitches out of a jam. 0-0 top of the fourth.
-
Brantley looked like he was trying to throw to Engel in CF on that Jose Ramirez stolen base, good think TA has that vertical leap. Nice play TA.
-
Looks like the Reds and cubs have everyone in the lineup today. Need a really good outing from McGuire today.
-
3-0 Tribe over Volstad.

Chris Volstad

Back to back walks to lead off the bottom of the first. Volstad knows what's up.

Go Nat's and whomever plays the Dodgers.

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 02:12 AM) Go Sale! Despite Sale starting for Boston I just can't bring my self to cheer for them, or Houston. I'll just sit back and enjoy what should be some damn good baseball.

Shohei Otani is likely coming to the USA
BlackSox13 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Chicago does have a Japanese community as well as a Japanese market place in Arlington Heights. Aside from that, the only other selling point would be that Otani is in the age group of the rebuilding white Sox. So the question is, would that be enough to lure Otani to sign with the Sox? -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 10:39 AM) Yep. The voice of my childhood and adulthood. I am more sad about this than the end of this season. Yeah, I am seriously be bummed out but am so glad I tuned in this year or I'd feel a hell of lot worse. to the Hawkaroo!

Looks like I had picked the 68-71 range. Pretty close, I'll take it.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 04:34 AM) Let's all cement this into our heads for the next 8 months as a site-wide mantra.... 5 games started... 35 total innings pitched... 24 years old... 5 games started... 35 total innings pitched... 24 years old... 5 games started... 35 total innings pitched... 24 years old... 5 games started... 35 total innings pitched... 24 years old... 5 games started... 35 total innings pitched... 24 years old... 5 games started... 35 total innings pitched... 24 years old... 5 games started... 35 total innings pitched... 24 years old... 5 games started... 35 total innings pitched... 24 years old... 5 games started... 35 total innings pitched... 24 years old... edit: I don't think anyone is sold on Carson... and myself, I was conceding him to the bullpen already just a few weeks ago in August. So... the mantra applies to this dude as well. I hear ya but he's pitched well enough to throw him into the fire next season and see what happens. Personally, I have no expectations, just gonna wait and see what he does with the opportunity.

QUOTE (ron883 @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 10:23 AM) He will be back next year I did not know this. Happy panda! QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 10:24 AM) Hell yea man! Proud to have you in the Sox brotherhood As one of my favorite Aussie bands likes to say " hell f*** yeah!". Is it 2:10 yet? QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 10:25 AM) Yep, he'll probably do the first series, and every Sunday home game after. Probably 14-20 games. This makes me a very happy panda. I obviously missed the news on this. Soxtalk

Sigh, last game. Bummer. More importantly, it's Hawk's last game. One of the reasons I plugged the cable back into my TV this year was to hear Hawk call games in his last season. I got tired of the Hawkisms and his chronic complaining of the umps years ago but I respect the f*** out if his White Sox fandom and am lucky enough to have been there the whole way since he started calling games for the Sox. I consider myself to be a very lucky Sox fan. One more time today Hawk, let all the Hawkisms fly!!! Awe hell, do what you've always wanted to do and let a few cuss words out, f*** it! and go Hawk!

Robin Ventura May manage again next season
BlackSox13 replied to Ducksnort's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 04:15 AM) For 8 years, every single season between 1990 to 1998 - my dad and I would go see every Sox game against the Angels. hi8is Sr. was a really b****en father... it didn't matter if it was a 3 or 4 game set... every single game we would get there about 3 hours before the gates opened for batting practice and we would then stay after the game was over for about 2 additional hours. Before and after games Ventura became someone we relied on being able to not just get a signature from - but also to have some of his time. He'd spend at least a few minutes per year taking with my pops and it was obvious that Ventura came to recognize him after a couple years. The Big Hurt was similar in that he was just a stand up guy in that setting. His method for signing was to have everyone line up... he'd stand and sign after games more often than not for over an hour until everyone had their memento. If it was daylight out, he would always willingly pose for as many pictures as people requested during this process... always flashing his patent pending smile. Those two players are the reason I latched onto the Sox and never let go. Thomas more so than Ventura -- but the point is that yes, in my personal experience -- Ventura was one of the best on and off the field. Dude, that's awesome. And now you yourself are the b****en father! Seriously, how f***ing cool is that! Someday your boy will be on here talking about how the two of you saw young studs like Moncada, Jimenez, Giolito etc and the experiences that came with it. Stay cool hi8is.
