  1. According to BR the Tigers are 5-22 for the month of September. Hard to top that s*** show. Good thing Cleveland is still playing for the AL #1 seed. Should help the Sox hold onto the #4 pick next year.
  2. QUOTE (Superstar Lamar @ Sep 28, 2017 -> 10:29 AM) I hope he gets reinvented into a prospect by next year's trading deadline Yep. This is a much better approach than focusing on what was and what was given up for it.
  3. Wiith the talent projected for next year's draft, I'm more bummed about the Sox having less money to play with. Sucks but it isn't the end of the world.
  4. Good news about Giolito. Really impressed with his 7 starts for the Sox. I think Lopez is sitting around 163IP so is it safe to say he's probably done after his next start?
  5. Really sorry to hear about your friend Gregg and wish her the best. Losing loved ones is very difficult to cope with. IMHO, the biggest thing to consider is the human free will. We all have choices to make in life and unfortunately sometimes our choices not only affect our selves but others as well. I lost a close friend in '99 to a contstruction accident. It was his day off but his boss called and asked him if he would come in to work that day. Being a new guy on the job he didn't want to say no and since he and his wife were planning a family he decided to go in to make a few extra bucks. Unfortunately his bosses decision to work on a very windy day ( friend was a jack man for a crane) that they normally would not work, it cost my friend his life when the wind caught the load mid air and toppled the crane onto its side and I'll just leave the rest of the story at that. Sigh, not a pretty picture. As for the natural disasters. I'm not going to try and explain it because mother nature is far beyond my understanding.
  6. Damn. I step away for the evening with the lil woman thinking Shields would help the tank and instead he pitches well. I started Sunday's and Monday's game threads and we see how that worked out. Anyone else want to give a go for Tuesday's game? I'm just not the luck were looking for right now. WTF!
  7. Angels @ White Sox 7:10CT Nolasco vs Shields Should be plenty of offense in this game tonight. 1- Sanchez 2- Anderson 3- Avi 4- Davidson 5- Delmonico 6- Liriano 7- Narvaez 8- Saladino 9- Engel And that's your full on tank mode lineup for tonight's game.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2017 -> 09:25 AM) With options, I think it is 7 years of control for Anderson. Thanks for pointing that out. I forgot about the options.
  9. QUOTE (hi8is @ Sep 25, 2017 -> 01:50 AM) Can't believe I didn't notice his low walk totals. He's gonna be a VERY interesting guy to watch next year and with regard to his development of power - we'll see. This time last year everyone was clamoring to offload the dude. Now the big question is can he take the next step on his power tool? I'll take that to the bank and be stoked. The beauty really is it being moot. If he takes the next step, awesome. Sign him to an extension at that point and pencil him in as an all-star corner and put him as a fixture in the middle of your lineup for a few years with other upcoming bats flanking him. If not, oh well - we've got options and money to spend. Where the White Sox sit - it's a thing of beauty. Right. Hope I don't come off as being nitpicking but those are really my only two concerns with Avi. If Avi's power continues trending upward next year, I doubt I will even notice or care about the walk totals. He made some major strides this year with his defense and batting average and an uptick in power so he deserves alot of credit for that. Also, noticed Avi is playing with a chip on his shoulder, which I like. I can see the focus and determination on his face as he steps into the box. He has been a different player this year with a new attitude. Hell, I can admit I've been harsh on the guy but I must give credit where it's due, there's no denying he's improved this year. If he can come out next year and hit .300+, play solid defense and get on a pace for 25-30 HR's, I would be all for the idea of extending him. Hopefully this season is a glimpse of what's to come.
  10. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 24, 2017 -> 05:41 PM) I still don't get Abreu batting before Avi. It should be the other way around. BTW have to Sox owned the Royals this season? I don't mind Abreu batting ahead of Avi but I wouldn't object if they flipped either. I think the Sox won the season series by one game vs the royals.
  11. QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Sep 24, 2017 -> 05:31 PM) That's great news. Always want teams to be as full health as possible in the playoffs. Produces the most credible and reputable games. Harper is a player that needs to be healthy. Agreed. Especially good news since the Nat's will probably play the cubs in the NLDS.
  12. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 24, 2017 -> 04:34 PM) He has already shown that. He and Abreu will anchor that offense for a number of years I hope your right. I wonder if Hahn still feels the same in regards to Avi and Abreu.
  13. https://www.google.com/amp/deadspin.com/bry...-1818706820/amp Looks Harper comes back tomorrow for a series with the Phillies.
  14. Keep it up Avi, I really want to be wrong about you.
  15. This should be Giolito's last inning so we'll see how the pen responds. Giolito has put together another fine outing so far. He's going to be filthy if he can get his curve and slider over the plate more often.
  16. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 24, 2017 -> 02:58 PM) 15/16 for Anderson in stolen bases. Yeah, that's pretty efficient. I thought TA was going to be thrown out at home but man can he run! Great slide helped too.
  17. Yolmer double to drive in Engel. Sox 4-1
  18. Game on now with the Sox coming to the plate in the bottom of the first. Giolito with 2k.
  19. QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Sep 24, 2017 -> 12:24 PM) The dude is just always hurt... I wonder if its come time to explore him as a closer or dominate andrew miller type reliever. Maybe he can stay healthy that way This is idea to keep in mind if things don't turn around. The Braves made Smoltz the closer when he had arm problems. Smoltz closed for 3+ years before going back to starting.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 24, 2017 -> 09:34 AM) Agreed, and I hope all the teams on the left win. If the Yankees, Red Sox, and Cubs make the LCS, I'll have no interest unless Sale and Quintana faced each other in a WS game...and even then, maybe won't watch. Yep, except I kinda prefer AZ knocks LA out in the in the division series. I won't b**** if the Dodgers advance though. Should be good either way. I'm with ya on the BoSux, I just can't root for them despite Chris Sale. Ugh, a BoSux vs cubs WS would be the f***ing worst. I would not watch that series. Hoping it looks like this... ALCS Indians vs Astros NLDS Nat's vs AZ That's perfect for me. No cubs or BoSux.
  21. Hoping the division series' end up looking like this. ALDS Indians vs Yanks Astros vs Red Sux NLDS Nat's vs cubs Dodgers vs DBacks
