  1. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 07:17 PM) What did Hahn say? Basically said he's not sure Avi's timeline matches up with the next Sox contender. Also wasn't sure about keeping Abreu for the long term due to age and expected cost in extending him. A nice way of saying those players might not be very sound investments.
  2. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 03:26 PM) I personally think he'd be better as a #2 hitter due to his power, but we'll see if it improves as he progresses. I think #2 would be ideal since Moncada already has the eye and sees alot of pitches in his at bats already. I'd go TA #1 and Moncada #2.
  3. QUOTE (hi8is @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 06:52 PM) But he'll have endless amounts of research, debating, and speculation to enjoy about the next draft. That said - I always miss Chicago White Sox baseball in a viscerally painful way. That's true. Plus we'll have the new farm rankings and player rankings to look forward to. Oh, and winter ball too.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 06:58 PM) Abreu has a leg or foot issue. I wonder if once he gets to 100 rbi they shut him down. I think Jose got tangled up with his bat on that base hit.
  5. QUOTE (hi8is @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 06:59 PM) Tigers currently up 3 to 1 on the Twins in the top of the 7th in Detroit. Minnesota has a runner at second with 1 out. Phillies up 1 zip in the 3rd. The Bum goes for SF against Los Doyers tonight. Big game. Please lose. That's good news from Detroit and Philly. Engel doing his part as I typed this post!
  6. Better hope for some good Abreu/Avi trade rumors or this off season is going to be a very long and boring one.
  7. Come on Covey, don't let us down. 2018 draft position is at stake.
  8. I'm with you guys. Baseball has been and will always be #1 for me. I used to love sitting back over the winter drinking beer with friends and watching football but I lost all interest in the game years ago so winter is very boring for me as far as sports go. Baseball hasn't even finished yet and I already miss it.
  9. Just checked Fox for their Saturday ball game. Looks like people in the Chicago area get stuck with the cubs @ brewers. Would rather watch the Angels @ Houston.
  10. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 09:19 AM) Yeah, Greg's not a troll. He just vacillates between sounding like a drunk on the corner bar stool and a starry eyed child seeking autographs at the player's lot fence. Add in the KC shtick and he sounds almost real. Please stop responding to this fool, people. I almost spit out some of my coffee when I read this. Well done sir.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 10:52 PM) OK but it just makes me mad at times. I try to comment on the game the rare occasions I post in the game thread. This was a weird game for us all to watch. I want the high pick next year like many others, but I won't complain about the youngsters making plays like that to end the game for a win. Bitter sweet indeed.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 10:47 PM) Well my gosh. How many times do the same people have to throw in that they want us to blow leads?? I can be a repeat record but geez can you give us a break with the root for losses when we all know you want losses?? How bout pointing out the special moments like Avi's defense tonight?? I KNOW that guy wants us to lose. Why not just post it every inning? Giving breaks is a two way street Gregg. You can't ask others to relent on their views when you yourself will not budge. Don't take it so personally and relish in the win.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 10:38 PM) Do u ever get tired of saying the same thing? We get it ... you root for losses. It doesn't make you special. We know your position on the matter. How bout some praise for Avi on that last throw and the earlier one? A sports fan respects s*** like Avi threw out there tonite. Come on Gregg, seriously?
  14. To quote what I just said to my wife " what the f***ing bad news bears kinda s*** was that from the Royals". Well, Minaya shut me up.
  15. QUOTE (hi8is @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 09:10 PM) Alrighty - love the Moncada bomb but I really hope we lose this game in the 8th or 9th. Two words for ya, Omar Minaya. Have faith that Omar will do the right thing for the rebuild.
  16. Lopez does look pooped. He had about 153 innings last year and at about 160 now. As long as his arm is feels good, just keep throwing him out to get the experience and innings. It will pay off down the road when we look for him to pitch in the post season.
  17. Wow, good to see Bernie Williams in the booth. Man, he was a hell of a player.
  18. QUOTE (hi8is @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 01:52 PM) To quote Maynard James Keenen, "wait it out, be patient." Yeah, what this ^ Tool said. I'll just wait it out for y'all to play it out.
  19. QUOTE (hi8is @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 12:41 AM) After his promotion to AA the stock looked better too. It was also comforting to read interviews with him where he admitted that focusing on defense took from his strides at the dish. Couple that with reports out of the draft that scouts had him as a currently ready big league hitter and I've come around on Collins. At the time of the pick, I wasn't a fan. Yeah, I also liked that he recognizes he has a hitch in his swing and asked the Sox if they could until the off season to work on fixing it. Makes sense with him focusing so much on the defensive side of his game during the season. Was it the uncertainty of Collins sticking at Catcher that you weren't a fan of? IIRC, that was the concern for some folks on draft day.
  20. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 10:51 AM) What was said lol PM me Uh yeah, me too.
  21. QUOTE (hi8is @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 12:28 AM) It's far to soon to be going around calling Carson "garbage" but I actually was pissed on draft day when the Red Sox picked Benitendi. Yeah no kidding dude. I preferred Benintendi as well but once he came off the board I was fine with drafting Fulmer. As for Fulmer being garbage, some folks should quit their day jobs and become scouts. After all, 23 is the new 33 so it's time for Carson to hang up his cleats and think about a new career as a pitching coach. Kudos to you hi8is for keeping a cool head in your last few posts.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 02:05 PM) Why? Our fans have pointed out it's all a mirage. Why would other teams think otherwise and actually want him? That's what I don't understand. All the BABIP red flags. Only the Sox fans notice them? Nobody else? Good post Greg, seriously. Avi's red flags are why it's better to not trade him or extend him at this point. Let him play next season and go from there. His future does not need to be determined right now.
  23. Sale vs O's up next. Hoping the Halos win tonight to pick up a game on the Twinkies.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 04:51 PM) I'm in section 232 in the front row tomorrow night, so the location better be here Trust your ticket and not my memory, lol. I think Fulmer should be pitching tomorrow night.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 04:36 PM) It'll still be somewhat humid, I can promise that, but temperature controlled Yeah, I was juuust a few miles off on the location of tonight's game but closer on the weather.
