  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 13, 2017 -> 01:58 PM) Trayce as well. I am hoping it's real with Engel, but I'm not buying it, yet and still his OPS is under .600. It could help his confidence. Hasn't he usually been a real streaky hitter? It's kind of bizarre, I was at a game he turned around a Matt Bush 100 MPH fastball right up the middle, and I have seen him blown away by fastballs nowhere near that. Yeah I agree and that's why I'm just going with the wait and see approach. I never expected him to do as much as he's done but we've seen this with Trayce. It's not fair to Engel but they are very similar players. As for the fastballs. I think Engel is simply over thinking, as Hawk would say. It could explain why sometimes he's on the fastball and late on others. Or, he's up there guessing.
  2. QUOTE (Scoots @ Sep 13, 2017 -> 01:54 PM) I was thinking right before he did that (c'mon Adam just rip one right down that left field line), then boom it happened. As awful as he has looked during that bad stretch of atbats, he has had some clutch at bats. Likes to hit them down the line. Dude, you need to think along with the game more often. Yeah I like Engel's progress so far. After seeing Thompson fall back to earth last year, I have no expectations from Engel. If he solidifies himself as the starting CF that's great but if he doesn't it's no big deal since I wasn't expecting him to become a starting CF'r anyway. I'm just sitting back and enjoying the show, for however long it lasts.
  3. QUOTE (Lillian @ Sep 13, 2017 -> 01:53 PM) You all know how much I'm loving the progress we're watching with Adam. Yeah, if only he could bat left handed.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 13, 2017 -> 01:51 PM) Engel bringing back memories of Jerry Owens, Josh Fields, Brent Morel, and Septembers past. No Trayce Thompson?
  5. Nice rip down the LF line by Engel. He's been a nice surprise so far with the bat.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 13, 2017 -> 01:37 PM) I don't know how much you would have to scout him if he was clearly worth all you could offer him. That said, he isn't coming to the White Sox, and wouldn't be coming to the White Sox had they not signed Robert. I think the Sox knew they had no chance with Otani so they made sure to get Robert which was the smart move.
  7. Great way to enjoy the day, White Sox baseball! Super happy since ESPN has a double header this evening. Full day of baseball for me. f*** yeah. Nice ducksnort by Yoan.
  8. QUOTE (Tony @ Sep 12, 2017 -> 12:48 PM) Did Hawk just confuse the Royals and the Sox? It seemed like he was rooting for that double play Avi just hit into, haha Yep, sure did.
  9. Can someone explain to me what the Sox see in Covey? I'm just not seeing it.
  10. First U2 and now Covey. Baseball can be so cruel.
  11. Time to bust out the whoopin schticks!
  12. f*** U2 and the Royals. Hopefully the Sox bats make KC wish it was a night game.
  13. Random thought. Moylan is a lucky dude in that he doesn't have to experience winter. When the season ends, he goes home to Australia where it's spring. Pretty cool.
  14. QUOTE (Tannerfan @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 08:37 PM) Does anybody know what the hell the catbird seat is? Basically the favorable position the cat has put itself into before pouncing on the bird. To me, it's the same as waiting in the weeds.
  15. Speed and power ( XBH ) working well tonight so far.
  16. Damn. That ball is out during the day. Avi hit that pretty well.
  17. Come on Hawk, what happened to ducksnort? f*** the KCS.
  18. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 06:38 PM) Is it wrong that I see that lineup and think "hmm, not half bad"? Not at all. There's some nice speed and power in that lineup.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 05:45 PM) That's why I said the White Sox are going to see who fails as a starter and which relievers in the minors are going to help them before they worry about the big market. They have some big arms coming through the system, and not all are going to make it as starters. Right and all people need to do is take a little time to read about those arms and they will see why most of us do not desire to sign Reed. He isn't necessary at this point. I get it though, some folks are more comfortable with the proven and familiar instead of the unknown. Honest question for those that want to sign Reed. Knowing the Sox are rebuilding, give one good reason why Reed would want to sign with the White Sox? Don't say money because we already know that's not the answer. Reed will get that regardless of who he signs with.
  20. Considering how young the pitching is and will be, Sanchez at third is the best idea. With defense in mind, Delmonico becomes the DH for the foreseeable future to give him at bats to see how he further develops. That leaves Davidson high and dry. I wouldn't be surprised if Hahn looks for a buyer in Davidson this winter. Mid to small market teams might be interested in cheap controllable power that comes with swing and miss tendencies, hoping for a late bloomer. Davidson isn't the type of player the Sox have been drafting and acquiring which is why I think he's gone this winter, if possible. I pretty much see Davidson in the same way as Avi. Let em play but if I can find a team to give me something of quality for them, they are gone.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 04:27 PM) This is exactly what they will do. Sign a decent amount of guys to minor league (some mlb) deals and see what sticks. I'll take another Swarzak for Cordell type deal.
