Sure am glad that the free agent market isn't the only place to find a good closer. They can be traded for later as needed or even better, develop one. Hmm, a good example might be the one a few are pining for. Yep, it was the White Sox that developed Reed as a closer. Point is, why go out and sign Addison Reed when it's possible we already have the future closer in the system? The Sox have a ton of lively arms and I see no reason why the future closer will not come from within the Sox system. Lol, f***ing incredible. After all the complaining about Robertson's contract, the Sox find a team to trade for that contract and the next great idea is to repeat that process with Reed? Insanity.

QUOTE (Tony @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 03:12 PM) That sums it up.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 06:39 PM) I think Boston would prefer that to Cleveland in the ALDS - Sale has been iffy against Cleveland, so packing him in 2x in a 5 game series leaves little margin for error. Agreed. My thinking is that if Boston and Houston play in one of the ALDS series, that series goes 5 and the pitching staff will be tired from that Houston offense. This assumes Boston and Cleveland win their ALDS'. Now Boston has to face Cleveland ( Sale's kryptonite) in a 7 game series with a tired pitching staff and at least one more start under Sale's belt from the Houston series. This is the part that makes me chuckle.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 01:08 PM) Ditto. But I was extremely biased because I've liked Sanchez since the Futures Game. Nice. That goes back a long way. I've always liked his glove, versatility and switch hitting. He threw me off a few years ago. I looked at the winter ball site to see how Sanchez was playing and the name Yolmer came up. Looked at his picture and it was him. That was the first time I had seen his name listed as Yolmer.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 01:04 PM) Let that ring out! Really, anybody that thought Micah was a legit 2B should wear the scarlet letter. You let Hawk talk you into that silly idea. I still remember an infield hit and Micah just stood there not knowing what base to cover. That was when I lost hope in Micah. I don't know what the future holds for Sanchez but I wouldn't rule out him playing a Willie Harris/Geoff Blum type role for the next White Sox contender. Happy as hell to have him.

El Rey gets to play the role of spoiler tonight. I like it.

I am happy to say that when the choice between Micah and Sanchez came up, I chose team Sanchez.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 11:33 AM) i believe one of the beat guys tweeted that TAs upswing coincided with him starting to see a grief counselor in late July I can believe this. A few if us around here have been saying to give TA more time because of his loss.

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 04:15 PM) Yep. Best record faces wildcard regardless of division. Good. I'm going to chuckle if Boston faces Cleveland in the ALCS.

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 9, 2017 -> 03:25 PM) Indians- 17 in a row I hope they beat the Astros in the ALCS. Same here. If Cleveland finishes with the most wins in the AL, wouldn't that put Boston against Houston in the ALDS?

With the amount of talent expected in the '18 draft, I'll take a top three no problem. Making the right choice draft night is what really matters.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 03:00 PM) Can't actually believe that fulmer outdueled Bumgarner. Outdueled is being kind. This was a straight up spanking! Hats off to Fulmer. I love eating my words.

QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 12:38 PM) WOW! I love how this kid works. Super fast. He is ready to throw before the batter is even in the box. I also like how he changes how long he pauses in his step back/sideways. Sometimes it's super fast where it barely seems like his foot is hitting the ground while other times he pauses for a second or two. After that video of him.. I am hooked haha Yeah, he could teach Strohman a thing or two.

Only one hour left to decide if I want to watch Fulmer pitch today. Not looking forward to it, TBH.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 9, 2017 -> 11:09 PM) Yeah we both took a loss on that one I specifically came in here to laugh at myself. Hats off to Shields and the Sox offense for making me eat my hat.

Jose Abreu with 1st Sox cycle in 17 years
BlackSox13 replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Missed the game but what a nice box score to look at. Well done Jose Abreu on hitting for the cycle. Looks like TA is continuing to come around too. Hats off to Shields as well. -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 9, 2017 -> 07:17 AM) Nobody ever wants to draft HS pitchers because of the risk involved but Hankins and Rocker both look ridiculous. Kopech, Giolito and Cease were all HS pitchers. 2/3 did have TJS already though. Last night Hawk and Stone touched on this. Hawk said he won't let his grandson throw a breaking ball until he's 18, to which Stone agreed.

Are we allowed to get nervous about Moncada at this point?
BlackSox13 replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Not concerned about Moncada, at all. He'll be just fine. -
My totally biased review of Giolito's performance tonight
BlackSox13 replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think Giolito looked great last night. The Sox defense and home plate umpire, not so much. -
QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Sep 9, 2017 -> 01:35 AM) It is hard to rebuild when your first round picks include Rodon, Fulmer, Collins, and Burger. That's hilarious. Thanks for the laugh to go with my morning coffee.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 9, 2017 -> 12:34 AM) Shields vs. Samardzija? They're practically the same pitcher*... give me a 7-6 SF win *before someone brings in stats, I just mean they're inning eating RHPs who get lit up True but it's about more than the pitchers. Shields pitching against that Giant lineup has disaster written all over it. Especially if the fielding miscues continue. Not trying to be doom and gloom, just realistic.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Sep 8, 2017 -> 07:28 PM) A look at Ethan Hankins 14K's against Korea. In consideration as the top arm in the 2018 draft class. Get familiar. https://mobile.twitter.com/WBSC/status/906232961367851008 That is some nasty movement on his fastball and slider. Kid is pretty filthy.

Carlos Rodon to the DL, will not pitch again in 2017

Have the Sox said where the inflammation is located in the shoulder? -

Quick, trade Rodon to Toronto! -
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Sep 8, 2017 -> 01:58 PM) Trading Jose in any way to "make room" for Delmonico and Davidson would be a very stupid move. If the right deal is there sure, make it. You don't even consider Delmonico or Davidson's playing time in the equation. For a guy that is essentially bad Adam Dunn, Davidson gets way too much f***ing love here. Cool, he hits HR. He's also a butcher in the field and has an .280 OBP. There is more to baseball than HR. That's based on Hahn's recent comments that Dick Allen was nice enough to pass on. It sounds as though Hahn would like to move Abreu because he will be a year or so away from FA by the time the Sox are ready to contend. And paying big money and long term contract to a 32/33 year old FA 1B wouldn't be the best use of money. I am summarising what I recall DA saying. So there is some margin for error on my part.
