Impressed with Lopez tonight. Bounced back very well and maintained his composure. I wonder if he was tipping his change early on because it sure looked like hitters were looking for it.

Narvaez playing some first base after some musical chairs.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 08:07 PM) Jimenez out both games....he punch a wall also? He's on his way to Chicago.

Adams starting game two for Birmingham.

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 06:43 PM) Hopefully Hansen is the TBD. Would make for very good pitching matchups. Hansen last pitched on the 28th so it won't be him. Not sure who gets game 2. Birmingham's site doesn't say anything either.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 06:07 PM) Why is everyone acting like we're in a rush to lock in roles or something? People are just trying to look ahead at what things may look like over the next few years. It's hard not to with so much talent on the farm.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 06:13 PM) I am really jonesing for some Delmonico and Moncada. X2 Glad Davidson is back. ( did I just say that?)

Barons face Allard and Soroka this evening. That sucks, lol.

Option 1) Rodon, Kopech, Lopez, Giolito, Fulmer Option 2) Rodon, Kopech, Lopez, Giolito, Hansen. See why Fulmer is heading to the pen?

QUOTE (ron883 @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 01:37 PM) That's the thing. By all accounts, his stuff just isn't what it used to be. He isn't the same pitcher any more. The problem is that he is the same pitcher. He really has not progressed as a starter aside from learning the cutter. He still struggles to throw strikes but the repertoire is still there. If the Sox can get Fulmer to throw strikes with his fastball and cutter as a reliever, his knuckle curve will be absolutely devastating with two strikes. There's alot of potential in Fulmer as a reliever.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 12:44 PM) Didn't they just do exactly this over the past year or so? Yep. But you have to follow the minor leagues in order to know this privileged information that lies hidden within thy tinfoil hat. Trust in the foil and it will set your ancient baseball knowledge free!!! Wooooooo.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 01:25 PM) f*** Mayweather v McGregor. All about Greg vs Ron. https://giphy.com/gifs/southpark-south-park...www.google.com/

http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/pro...p;Page=Analysis According to baseball cube Fulmer has averaged 93.5 on his fastball as a starter this year. Looking ahead to 2018, as a reliever Fulmer should see an uptick in velo on the fastball. That with his curve ball and intensity make me think he could be a damn good closer in time.

For s***s and giggles I'll say Kopech based on the Sox feeling he could make the team out of ST next year.

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 07:28 PM) Machado will be 26 when he hits FA. A 10 year deal would pay for his age 26-35 seasons. That's unlikely to be a crippling deal. Harper is an even better candidate, but the numbers on him are going to be insane. Can't say this wouldn't be a crippling deal without knowing how Machado will age during the second half of that contract. More times than not, teams regret those long term contracts. If the Sox wanted to go five years on Machado, I'm game but if Machado wants to years, I Gilroy's a team other than the Sox. This is all based on my belief the Sox do have young talent that will become major leaguers a few years down the road. Guys the Sox I'll want to sign to long term contracts. Guys the I'll be younger than Machado is now. Besides, let's see how Burger plays in '18. By the end of the '18 season we not even care about Machado.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 1, 2017 -> 06:11 AM) Probably, but I doubt teams were tangling top of the line prospects for 4 weeks of Miguel Gonzalez. Chances are, when Hahn's time is done and they go through all his trades and signings, this is one most of us will forget ever happened, but so what? One of these times, the White Sox will strike gold with a guy like this. This trade reminds me so much of the Rios for Leury swap. I hope we have really good luck with Forbes. On a side note. I do wonder if Texas made this trade to keep MiGo out of Houston and therefore force Houston to make an expensive ( money/prospects ) late season trade for Verlander. Probably nothing but it makes me wonder given how much love the Rangers and Astros have for each other.
-
Hahn managed to get a 20 year old kid with projection left for a guaranteed one month rental for a 33 year impending FA pitcher? Not bad at all. Take any and all talent.
-
Not sure how Otani fits in with the Dodgers desire to get under the cap but with their history of Japanese players and willingness to spend money it's hard to see a team being more attractive than the Dodgers. Being the best team in baseball doesn't hurt either.

Minaya has been treading thin ice in his save opportunities so he was bound to blow one sooner than later. -

Lol. Well done Minaya, well done. You just broke the hearts of Royals fans. -
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 01:49 PM) Angels are probably praying he opts out. I think it's the opposite. Adding Upton to that lineup allows for the Angels to not only push for a WC this year but if Upton sticks around, that lineup is set for next year and allows the Angels to focus on pitching this winter. If I were Upton, I'd stick around to hit in that lineup.

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 31, 2017 -> 02:27 PM) It feels like Gillaspie has done better than he actually has since coming to Charlotte. His numbers are kind of deceiving. Since coming to the Sox his BA has dropped a touch but his walk rate has improved a touch. I think being on base more is why it feels like he's been better. Plus, I thiink Gillaspie is a guy that genuinely needed a change of scenery that could offer him better opportunities at the big league level. Looking up at the log jam the Rays had must been kind of discouraging. He'll get his chance with the Sox no doubt.
