Old: Mega Hendriks Speculation Thread
smellysox replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You know Katz seems to have big plans for Lopez this season. I can't count on him as a starter. more as a bullpen piece for me. -
Wow this argument is still going on?!? I'm starting to forget what this thread is even about. That's right Musgrove. So are we trading for him?

Old: Mega Hendriks Speculation Thread
smellysox replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
To be honest, that budget is a little higher than I thought it would be. Also, one of the food guys or NSC tweeted that TLR is the most important executive for the Sox. And Tucker Barnhart must be who Tony wants for backup catcher. -
I like this name! Not too far removed from being a everyday starter. Still only 29. I don't know about the defensive side of his game though. Don't know the years of control either. I got to think after this year a FA? Could be wrong.

Yeah, this is an interesting development.

Yes the national guys and mlb network love the sox moves

Sox sign Adam Eaton 1 year, $7m plus option
smellysox replied to Greek-konerko's topic in Pale Hose Talk
So what exactly is their projected payroll then? Losing yolmer Sanchez, rodon, and mazara saves them about 13 million dollars. Adding Lynn and Eaton cost about 15 million dollars. And losing the salaries of McCann, colome, and EE is roughly about 25 million? So divide that up between a fifth starter, a closer, and any other relief help. And your payroll is about the same as last year besides the few arbitration raises. -
Yeah, I really don't want a reunion with Q. I would much rather acquire Richards or Kluber. There is comfort between the FO and Q. And vice versa. Maybe the sox aren't to worried if Q's era rises and plateaus near 5. They probably figure that the offense is good enough to overcome at least half of his starts. And he is good for 175 innings. Again, much rather go with the other guys.

Sox acquire Lance Lynn for Dane Dunning and Avery Weems

Exactly! -
Sox acquire Lance Lynn for Dane Dunning and Avery Weems
smellysox replied to KrankinSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is a crap trade! Now we still have to go get a arm to replace Dunning. Not sure Kopech is ready. How are we going to look a year from now? Lynn walks. Hahn and the FO making trades always scares me. Yes we've made good trades. And that's when we blow it up and trade stars for prospects in return. But when we trade prospects for veterans that's a different thing completely. Young, the new Texas GM, has been a great hire! They've go to be ecstatic. Lol -
Rumor: Sox discussing deal with Cubs/Rangers
smellysox replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You guys are going to have to talk me into this. I am not a fan of this trade. So this makes us better next season. What about the 4 seasons after that? Not to mention another pitching prospect? Yikes -
I'd do that deal in a heartbeat. And hopefully their new general manager Chris Young feels the same way.
-
Harold said he would be shocked if we didn't sign Joc
-
I know I'm one of the few on here that really likes Joc. Sure I would prefer Springer. But Joc is a nice 2nd choice. And better than anything we've had in a while in RF. If the Sox did a 2 yr deal I'm ok with that too.
-
Always will be a fan of him. And I wish him well.
-
Lol. I would add Covey and Samardzija instead of Cease and ReLo.

Rodon and Schwarber were both 2014 1st rd picks (I think one right after the other?) Now both nontendered. I could see the Cubs signing Rodon and the Sox signing Schwarber. Just saying. Nothing surprises me anymore.
-
And inevitably Eloy and Jose (maybe) will get banged up. I have no problem getting Schwarber or anyone and still bring Vaughn up. The more talent we add, the deeper we are. the more flexibility we have, the better we are. It will help with the lineups and will help with the matchups.
-
The sox have benefited from very talented offensive players from Cuba. With the one exception being Dayon Visciedo. Marco Paddy does a great job finding these guys. Hopefully Colas isn't the second exception. There definitely seems to be talent there. Just how much?
-
Right. I've seen scouting reports on him (mostly from before he lost weight) but they seem to be all over tbe place on him. Not really sure where he would rank as a prospect with us or as a top 100? Love to see an updated scouting report on him.

White Sox coaching staff announced (List in first post)
smellysox replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Very good. We have a coaching staff. A couple of these guys sound intriguing and good. But honestly, I have no idea. And I lean on those with the knowledge who do know. Is the staff good? It sounds like it. Now we can concentrate on the team. -

smellysox replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I mean really the staff should be set by now. Most FAs want to know who the coaches are that They're going to work with. Does Hinch have his entire staff in place? Just a side note, still struggling that AJ Hinch is not with the sox. Didn't realize until I mentioned him. Freakin Reinsdorf! -
Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)

Has anyone checked Bauer's glove he ordered? Or the cap he's wearing? -

Harold are you trying to throw us off the scent to protect the secret?
