Agreed with all of this. Rendon is the type of talent you make fit and not worry about who you have (luckily Moncada has played alot of 2b so it's a perfect fit anyway). There are few guys like Rendon who are true difference makers that when one is available for basically only money and will probably sign a shorter contract it drives me up the wall knowing we probably won't land him because 2B is already reserved...

The one thing that worries me about Moncada is how much maintenance he seems to need. He's had leg aches from simply running hard on the bases. The OF seems like a bad spot for him if so. But to be clear I am also on the Rendon train, absolute pipe dream rn but the Sox should absolutely be looking to add 1 more elite bat. Rendon being a stud and probably looking for a shorter term deal since he doesn't want to play baseball into his late 30's should be a match made in heaven for the Sox FO with lots of cash to spend. I would move Moncada back to 2nd or even play Rendon as 2B and dangle Nicky to trade for a cost controlled RF.

This team is so sloppy and careless. Trubisky might not be even good but not sure how Nagy can be let off the hook by how stupid this team plays.

I still have worries about his lack of power, let’s see if the bat can translate to the majors without it. And I didn’t mean Betts would sign an extension, more that if Sox parted with Nicky for Betts they would definitely do it knowing that they will resign him in FA. I would like to see it but this is probably all moot anyway

2B would not be a Hole for 7 seasons with out NM. 2B would become a much easier stop gap spot to fill through FA or internally while having an extra year and pressure to re-sign Betts once in house.

Nick would be the easy choice to part with for Betts. Vaughn has a legit bat at the very least but I'm sure the Sox overvalue Nicky's "grinder attitude and leadership"

It does make a ton of sense with the gaping hole the Sox have in RF. I know alot of people aren't open to trading from the pool for a 1 year rental but this move has to absolutely be something the Sox go all in on and sign Mookie longterm.

I normally would completely agree with this but if you can get a top 5 player in the sport with the intention of keeping him (which is really the only way it will fully make sense), then you definitely go for it by trading from an area that can moreso be filled through FA a bit easier.

Maybe the Sox don't want to risk him being traded to somewhere he likes and open the possibility of an extension with said team next offseason. Basically it's possible they want to be that team to "woo" him. Right or not, the idea of dangling Vaughn for someone like Mookie or even a less RF with more control isn't out of the question right now IMO

Until Abreu isn't batting 3rd and playing 1B i'll believe it, Ricky seems content letting Jose keep those spots as long as he likes. I don't think Collins would be enough to get you a possible long term RFer, but as a package it's possible.

Also does anyone think it's a possibility Vaughn is dangled to try and plug RF up?

Same. He seems like a huge fall off a cliff guy once he signs a long term deal and he's nothing special to even begin with.
