  1. Ugh. Pass. Texas doesn't have anything that interests me at all.
  2. What did we decide about the InsideBaseball6 twitter account? Legit or not, yesterday he tweeted that the Yankees and Sox are still talking occasionally about Q and Robertson.
  3. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 31, 2017 -> 01:21 PM) The main issue with taking a package like that is that we essentially would be lowering the pricetag significantly for Quintana. If we would accept a depth package then over half the league should very much be in on him. Those are all nice prospects, but each come with some serious question marks. I am hesitant to deal a top 20 mlb starter on such a valuable contract for 4-5 "maybes". Our system needs depth for sure, but I'd rather acquire 3 very high caliber prospects than 4 good prospects and a draft pick We would be banking heavily on Tucker to reach his ceiling, and if he does not I'm not sure the rest of the package is enough to overcome that Quintana is a trade piece that can acquire a nearly untouchable prospect or two, and we should be looking for players that have potential allstar upside in return for him. Not just organizational depth To that point, for a little while now this has felt to me like the Yankees are waiting to strike. They aren't moving because they don't have to yet, but they know that they have an ace up their sleeve in Torres or Frazier. Once HOU, PIT, or ATL blink, I wouldn't be shocked if the Yankees get involved again. Because something like Frazier, Rutherford, Andujar, and Clarkin (or some other projectable pitcher) would be pretty enticing.
  4. If the Sox were to accept a Pirates package of Glasnow, Keller, Newman, and Hayes for Q. Would the Sox be able to then package something at the deadline like Robertson(assuming healthy), Glasnow, and Adams to the Yanks for Frazier and Rutherford?
  5. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 10:22 AM) Yeah...no. A few of the guys in the comments seem to think that the Cards are giving up too much in that. Lol
  6. One of the guys over at Viva El Birdos cooked up a trade proposal for the Cards to end up with Q. Luke Weaver, Magneuris Sierra, Austin Gomber, Connor Jones, and Lance Lynn for Q. http://www.vivaelbirdos.com/2017/1/30/1442...-trade-proposal
  7. QUOTE (beautox @ Jan 23, 2017 -> 01:10 PM) If rumbunter's right and Hahn had/has the deal on the table, good for him for holding out. Meadows / Bell / Keller and Q is in the black and gold. Meadows, Newman, Keller , Hayes, Diaz.
  8. QUOTE (turnin' two @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 09:39 AM) The Marlins just traded 3 of their top 15 prospects, including their number 2 for Dan Straily. There is no way Hahn should lower his demands for Quintana. Marlins system is also hot garbage.
  9. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jan 17, 2017 -> 08:38 AM) Astros fans on Twitter are actually saying they would rather send their top prospects for Sonny Gray... What in the hell is wrong with them? People still undervalue Q. He was always #2 on the Sox and people won't let go of that no matter how much you prove them wrong. In reality, what Q has done is made all the more impressive by the fact that he did it in a hitters park in the American League.
  10. I'm not especially familiar with the Braves system, but would Albies, Newcomb, Acuna/Maitan, and Riley be too much of an ask from them?
  11. My opinion on "fair" value from the suitors. NYY: Frazier OR Torres, Rutherford, Andujar, and a low level (A+ or below) high upside pitcher. HOU: Martes, Tucker, Reed, Perez, and Stubbs OR Laureano PIT: Meadows, Newman, Keller, and Hayes Not sure if I'm way off base or not, but these make sense to me.
  12. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jan 6, 2017 -> 07:28 PM) So if Q and his contract aren't worth a prospect like Bregman or Meadows...then who is? I always thought you had to trade more prospects for an allstar MLB player. Apparently now you have to trade more MLB players for one untouchable prospect? GMAFB. Chris Sale was worth the absolute #1 prospect plus three other really good prospects. Jose Quintana can get Bregman+ Jose Quintana can get Meadows+ It's not even a debate. It's just going to have to hurt if you're the Astros or Pirates. That's how trading for Allstar pitchers with legendary contracts works. Bravo! Well said!
  13. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 6, 2017 -> 06:08 PM) B, but I'd probably accept both. 5-for-1 swaps are pretty appealing as you get to spread the risk out over many players. With deal A you're basically praying Bregman makes it. Agree. Plus, that's one premium pitcher and a whole mess of bats which this org badly needs.
  14. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jan 6, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) Hrmm. whitesoxdave ‏@barstoolWSD 9m9 minutes ago IF a deal gets done with Houston, I'm gonna predict the return to be Martes, Tucker, Stubbs, Fisher, Laureano 8 replies 9 retweets 16 likes Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 1m1 minute ago @barstoolWSD @JamesFox917 I would guess no Tucker 2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes If this gets done and Houston keeps Bregman, Tucker, AND Reed I'll be really bummed.
  15. Meadows, Newman, Hayes, and either Kingham or Yeudy Garcia seems fair. You get a headliner, another top 50 guy, a young abd projectable 3B and a pitching flyer. I would love that return.
  16. Sean Sears on twitter: "Source: Asking price for Chris Archer and Jose Quintana is too high for #Astros, "seems unlikely" that either will end up in Houston"
  17. Has Quintana been linked to the Yankees at all? If they were willing to give up Frazier, Rutherford, and Andujar I think they'd be fairly close. Plus, it would be amazing to sell Q back to the Yankees after we got him off of their scrap heap.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 09:57 PM) I read somewhere they aren't ga ga over Q. Ah. I thought they were interested. Oh well, lots of other suckers teams out there that can deal some bats to RH.
  19. If ATL could give up Albies, Maitan, Riley, and maybe one more, I'd hear them out.
  20. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 09:46 PM) Boston paid up. Washington paid up for Eaton. Now Houston or Colorado will. Phil Rogers even said as much when he said Houston and the Sox are far along on a deal. I'd like to see what ATL can come up with too. Lots of potential in that system.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 09:31 PM) Yeah, he had 45 games though and it was awful. No bright stretches at all. So send him back to AA for a month to let him sort some things out and let him spend the rest of the year in AAA. We're in no hurry. He has MASHED at every level of the minors and everyone is ready to punt on him after a bad month in his first trip to the Bigs. Reed is the EXACT type of buy low candidate that can really round out that deal.
  22. I actually wouldn't mind seeing the Sox pick up part of that salary if it increased the return in the trade. Eating half of the money owed would be less than $20MM in the next 4 years.
  23. Apologies if this has already been discussed in one of the other threads, but does anyone else think that RH used Sale to get a headliner for "his" farm system and that all of the other trades are going to focus primarily on depth all throughout the system?
  24. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:54 PM) A 16th pick from 2012 and a foreign amateur free agent for a 3 years of sale is a massive fail. "A 25th pick and a foreign amateur free agent" could be used to describe Mike Trout and Miguel Cabrera. Let's not use where a player came from to assess where he is.
  25. I hadn't ever really looked at Giolito's stats before, but I'm not seeing anything in his minor league career that would suggest to me that he's the #3 prospect in baseball especially with his recent dip in velocity.
