  1. His FIP is currently -0.27. NEGATIVE 0.27. He's so good that he broke the formula that calculates FIP.
  2. I thought that this was a pretty cool reaction for him to have upon receiving the news that he was starting. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0405-story.html
  3. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 4, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) I think he's the guy I want at this point. I wish Tucker was climbing draft boards a bit faster. I don't think his stock will realistically move him up to where the Sox will take a shot at him. He is definitely my favorite player on the board. He's the exact type of player that teams should be looking at. He's arguably plus or better at everything except power and I'm willing to bet he's going to grow into that too. Somebody is going to get a steal with this kid. Edit: I tweeted Jim Callis to see if Tucker is climbing and yes, yes he is. Jim Callis ‏@jimcallisMLB 9m9 minutes ago Yes, could go top 5-10 picks @OneOfTheMikes: Any idea if Kyle Tucker might be moving up draft boards? If so, how high could he go? @MLBDraft
  4. QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 18, 2015 -> 08:56 AM) 3-18 in looking up some of the prep prospects, i started to read on a player i like, Kyle Tucker. i still think he will climb into the middle of the 1-rd. but here is his profile as of yesterday. he is 6'4, left handed, who weights a generous 170-175 lbs, 4 hrs already, natural power, very good defense, great approach to batting, k's - little, great eye. perfect games profile. Tucker has been one of my favorite prospects in this draft for quite a while. Looks to be a phenomenal contact hitter that could grow into some power too.
  5. I was just thinking about the future of the organization and couldn't help but wonder if he might be a part of the future of it.
  6. Is he a lost cause? Or is there a chance he can still be what we thought he could end up being? I know that his velocity was way down last season, but is there any hope of him regaining that 2+ MPH?
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 09:18 AM) I don't want to quote material directly from behind a firewall, but in general, BP has been really high on Anderson. More so than other pubs. But they did also indicate Rodon could use a little more polish, and a couple other relatively minor quibbles. Good deal, I saw the rankings and I wasn't sure whether to be really, really excited about Anderson or whether to temper my expectations of Rodon by a little bit. Thanks for the info!
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 09:00 AM) Here is the BP Top 10 White Sox Prospects list. Great depth in the write-ups. Rodon at 2, Beck at 6 are surprises to me. Also, they seem to think Sanchez has a higher ceiling and long term value than Micah Johnson. I'm not a BP member, but could you tell us if the ranking is more about BP being really high on Anderson, not liking something about Rodon, or possibly both?
  9. Not sure how the number might translate, but Phil Rogers tweeted that Avi has hit .312 w/5 HRs, 22 RBIs, and an.894 OPS in 34 Venezuelan winter games.
  10. I exchanged a few messages with Dan Lifshatz (the Intern from Boston who started this whole mess) after he announced that the deal was dead. I asked him how far along he had heard things got and he said "they had agreed on a base of the deal". I followed up by asking what killed it and he said that "Chicago wants to fill seats this season, so they will try to compete. They don't have a lot of faith though." So you heard it here first, the only reason that Chris Sale isn't on the Red Sox right now is because RH, KW, & JR decided to try to compete even though they don't think they can.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 11:39 AM) Supposedly the third team is Washington I had seen some mention of that too, but I am to the point now that I have a hard time putting anything past RH.
  12. I know everyone is enthralled with Longoria at the moment, but Rosenthal just tweeted that there is another team involved here. Is it crazy to think that RH could be trying to get Zobrist? He has shown a willingness to get in 3 team trades before and Zobrist would be better than the question mark we have manning the position today.
  13. This is almost certainly going to seem like incoherent rambling at the beginning, but bear with me. I got an email this morning from my mother and her co-workers because the parents (Jane & Jack) of one of her co-workers (Tom) are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary today. One of the messages in the chain caught my eye. It said: "Jane & Jack, Congratulations on your 40th wedding anniversary. That’s the best deal I’ve ever made – even better than signing Dick Allen, Jim Kaat, and Harold Baines! Love you, Roland" After asking Tom a few questions, it turns out that Tom's dad Jack and Roland Hemond have know each other since they were kids and Roland actually introduced Jack to Jane all those years ago. Anyway, not much else to say about it, but it thought it was pretty cool in a small world kind of way.
  14. I feel like this is the same kind of pipe dream as Sale-to-Boston.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 02:23 PM) Yep. I've got him pegged for an extension. NICE! Keeping Sale, Shark, Q, and Rodon at the top of that rotation for a while would be pretty unbelievable give where this team was in 2013.
  16. Let him pitch out of the pen for 6-8 weeks then stretch him out and make him a starter. Thats the best way to keep his innings down that would still allow him to be a big factor toward the end of the season.
  17. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 03:18 PM) If 1.5 years of Shark cost Addison Russell, it makes sense that one year (plus the advantage of being Shark's hometown team) ... would equal Tim Anderson. This is not from an i-like-the-Sox perspective but from the perspective that you need to believe there are multiple Shark offers out there. We have to beat other offers, and you dont beat them with Marcus Semien+Ravelo or whatever. You need to offer something of worth. From the A's perspective, which again you have to consider-- Tim Anderson helps Oakland save some face for losing Addison Russell. Russell+ got them 1.5 years of Samardzija AND a rental of Hammel (who was having one hell of a year at that point).
  18. Do we have any reason to suspect that Anderson knows the details of the potential trade? It always seems to me that players are caught off guard when they are traded. Could it be that he is just getting himself all worked up because he keeps seeing his name mentioned?
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 01:34 PM) Those positions are just too easy to fill IMO especially when looking at adding a top of the rotation RHP You hearing anything new or of importance, Rock?
  20. That Lifshatz guy was suggesting earlier that the Sox weren't even interested in Bogaerts or Betts and that they only wanted Owens and Swihart for Sale.
  21. Let's pretend for a moment that the Sox were entertaining the idea of trading Sale. Why on earth would they only talk with Boston? They could make that public knowledge and EVERY team in baseball would be falling all over themselves to make an offer. That, along with all of the other reasons mentioned in this thread, is how I know this is all a bunch of moron Red Sox fans hoping that Rick Hahn will see one of their tweets and decide it's a good idea.
  22. I like it! Who do you like out of the current top 10-15 that could be available at 8?
  23. That would be very traumatic for you. I'm hoping that Kyle Tucker has a big year and works his way up to the top 10 so we can get him.
  24. I don't want any part of Scherzer. Financially handcuffing the team isn't going to do anyone any favors in the long run. I'd rather not see him in a Sox uniform when he's 36 years old making $28M/yr.
