I could definitely see Hahn looking into a big time deal for either Leake and Bruce or Latos and Bruce.
-
Bucket said the other day that not only had Hahn been on the phone all week with Billy Beane, but that he had also contacted the Rockies and Reds regarding some deals. What do we think could be in play as far as those are concerned? Latos? Bruce? Gonzalez? Dickerson?

Yoenis Cespedes traded to Detroit for Rick Porcello

They really do, all of them have a "source" and each one is worse than the one before. I read one a few minutes ago that suggested that Mookie Betts for Sale wasn't fair because they would need more in return for 5 years of a 21 year old stud. -

Steer clear of twitter for a little while. Seems like every Boston fan in sight is talking about a Bogaerts and Cespedes for Sale and trying to pass it off as reasonable. -
Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 42s42 seconds ago #WhiteSox will announce the signing of left-handed reliever Zach Duke later today.

Jesse Sanchez @JesseSanchezMLB 5m5 minutes ago Source: Cuban teenage prospect Yoan Moncada has been declared a free agent by MLB. He still must be unblocked by OFAC before he can sign. I hope Jerry opens up the wallet for this one. I REALLY like this kid.

White Sox Projected Arbitration Salaries
oneofthemikes replied to Eminor3rd's topic in Pale Hose Talk
A comp pick for DV would be amazing. Not so much in the short term, but with the way the Sox have been drafting in the early rounds lately, that could be a steal. -
I would love to see the Sox go get Sandoval and Markakis. A top half of a line up of : Eaton Markakis Abreu Garcia Sandoval would be pretty scary. Markakis would see great pitches all the time with Abreu behind him. Hopefully Sandoval would have a nice spike in his power numbers moving to the Cell. Then Gillaspie could either be traded or used as a DH and to spell Sandoval at 3B on occasion. Not sure what I would like to see them do in terms of a RH starter, but I think I'd like to see them go get Sergio Romo and Zach Duke for the pen.

Friedman just left to go to LA. I'd be shocked if Maddon was going anywhere other than that.

Thanks for the info!

Was there some underlying reason (aside from moving up a league) that his stolen base numbers dropped like they did? I like him a lot, and think that if his base stealing gets right, he could be a ton of fun to watch moving forward.

MLBtraderumors previews theWhite Sox offseason

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Oct 3, 2014 -> 11:11 AM) Reading that reminded me of how great the Sale and Quintana contracts are. I think one of the most important (if not THE most important) thing to address is a LH power bat. Beyond that, the bullpen needs a lot of help. Should be an interesting offseason. Someone the other day mentioned Carlos Gonzalez. I feel like it's too much to hope for, but it'd be nice. -
QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 30, 2014 -> 05:47 PM) the players I like so far are in order: 1. Brendan Rodgers - hs - ss 2. Ian Happ - college - ss/of. he did great in cape league this summer. 3. D.J. Stewart - college - of. 4. tie - Walker Buehler - college - pitcher, Nathan Kirby - college - pitcher and then there are several other pitcher of note with Russell, Lemoine and Ferrell http://www.pointstreak.com/baseball/stats....;seasonid=26713 I happen to like all of those guys, but I would add Kyle Tucker to that list.
-
I think that, at this point, Carlos will start 2015 in Chicago. But odds are that he isn't going to be a 200+ inning pitcher right away. So, I think that I would rather see him coming out of the pen to start the season to avoid a Strasburg situation from a few years ago when they shut him down for the remainder of the season. I think that spending April and May in the pen would allow him to conserve enough innings that he could be a starter the rest of the year and really help out down the stretch for a playoff run.
-
Pretty sure everyone is dealing with that right now. This is brutal.

Any new info for us today, Rock?

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 02:11 PM) Speaking of Boras, and I know it's a pipe dream, but imagine a 2016 rotation of Sale Scherzer Rodon Quintana ? I think I'd rather have Cueto

Sox Draft Carlos Rodon> Draft Day Discussion Thread
oneofthemikes replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
So, have the Sox shown legitimate interest in Reetz at any point? Or is he just a board favorite? Would they pick him or try to get someone that would sign underslot to help make sure Rodon and Adams sign? -

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 09:08 AM) Two seam FB that tops in the mid 90's, potential plus curve and change, supposed to be very good control/command. This. His command is his biggest selling point right now. Very advanced pitchability. Plus fastball and a couple other potential plus offerings. -
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 06:28 AM) Why is Kolek falling? That's sorta what I was wondering. Why now? Don't get me wrong, I am fine with whoever gets selected, because I trust what the front office is doing right now, I just don't get what could have caused the 11th hour slide. Signability concerns?
-
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 08:51 AM) I'd LOVE Nola at say, pick 5 or 6. I can honestly even see an argument for taking him over Kolek or Aiken purely because you fear the uncertainty of HS pitchers. But Nola over Rodon? They're both 1-2 years from having a shot to stick in the majors and Rodon has a way higher ceiling. I bet literally every team would take Rodon over Nola. I believe you are right if all things are equal, but it muddies the water if Rodon would want to sign over slot and Nola would be willing to work a deal.
-
QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 07:39 AM) Keith Law said last night that Nola could be in the majors this year and in a rotation next year. I don't know for sure, but I feel like that may be a bit overstated. Sale was on about the fastest fast track I can remember and it took him a partial bullpen stint and then a full year in the pen before he hit the rotation. Not saying it can't happen, but I would be surprised if they moved that quickly with anybody.
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 08:20 AM) Some of both. I want no part of Rodon. Gotcha. It's tough to keep straight who doesn't want which players for what reason. Hahahaha. Rodon scares me more from a cost standpoint than a delivery standpoint, but then again, I don't know much about the mechanics of pitching at all. Not trying to second guess people's reasoning, but where were all the concerns about his delivery last year and even into the beginning of this season? I kept reading how he was supposed to be this slam dunk, can't miss prospect and now (seemingly all of the sudden) there are a lot of concerns with his delivery and mechanics. Just wondering what (if anything) changed.
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 07:39 AM) At this point my draft board is: 1 Aiken 2 Kolek 3 Nola No Rodon even if he's available? Because of signability issues, delivery issues, both, neither?
