  1. Colome's BB/9 was TRIPLE what Hendriks was last season (SSS I know) but even if you go back to 2019 it was ~1.2 BB/9 higher than Hendriks. And Colome's xFIP over the last 2 seasons suggests that he's due for substantial regression. The Steamer projection puts him at a ~4.5 ERA for next season and I know that they're not gospel but projecting a nearly 4 run jump in ERA has to be based on something.
  2. Who is "we"? Is it the pitching coach? Because he's new. Or the manager? Also new. The fans? Jerry's already shown that he doesn't care about that at all. Listen, I know that Colome put up good numbers the past couple seasons but I worry that they're a mirage. His peripherals aren't all that great.
  3. If they can round out the offseason with Brantley, Hendriks, Hand, and Paxton/Quintana I'd be over the moon. That's one hell of a team.
  4. I kinda thought I did that by using words like "hope" "pessimism" and "dream".
  5. There have been a few posts on here about industry people saying that the Sox are one of the only teams willing to spend this offseason and then they added Lynn ($8M) and Eaton ($7M) so what gives? My hope (with nothing but pessimism behind it) is that Jerry is going to tell Rick to go get Bauer no matter the cost and turn over a can't miss team to his pal in an attempt to let him go out on top. A guy can dream can't he?
  6. Understood. It could have been the case with Dane. But it is certainly going to be the case without him (unless Lynn is extended).
  7. It's not JUST team control. It's giving up team control and only getting one year in return for it. If this doesn't work out they'll need to replace both Dunning and Lynn a year from now.
  8. They're gonna make Katz earn his keep because he's gonna have to fill two spots in the 2022 rotation. lol
  9. In truth, it kinda doesn't. There was a hole in the rotation and we moved a piece of the rotation to address it. Granted, it will be easier to fill a hole at SP4 than at SP2. The bigger concern for me is that, as it stands now, after 2021 we'll be without both Dunning AND Lynn.
  10. I'd be down for this. Kolten Wong would be a solid replacement for Madrigal at 2B.
  11. It's worse than that though. It isn't that he got the second one and the Sox decided not to fire him, he got the second one and then the Sox decided that it was still a good idea and hired him. Such a bad look. This offseason couldn't be going worse up to this point.
  12. "Your Honor, I'm a Hall of Famer Baseball Person. I'm legit. I don't want to put words in your mouth but, case dismissed. Who's up for a cocktail? I'm drivin'!"
  13. That ship has probably sailed at this point. This whole debacle is going to be a stain on the career of a hall of famer baseball person. The sham of a hiring process, the lack of contact to his most important players, the DUI, and the endless silence from the organization. This could not have gone worse for him or the organization.
  14. The Athletic released their 2021 Power Rankings and the Sox are (predictably) a laughing stock.
  15. The longer the silence goes, the more I tend to agree with you.
  16. The Giants were just an example. Pick a team. My point is that if all else is considered equal, players would choose the team that doesn't have a dumpster fire front office.
  17. I desperately hope that you are right, but the problem is that I kinda doubt that JR and TLR care about the embarrassment. JR wanted to make amends with his buddy and all TLR cares about is showing everyone that he is smarter than the analytics.
  18. But Jerry has never been one to open the checkbook and go get players. If I'm Trevor Bauer and I have a 5/125 offer from the Giants and a 5/125 offer from the Sox, why on earth would I voluntarily come be a part of this shitshow organization?
