This is a nightmare. JR just can’t help himself.
-
I have never wanted anything to be true more
-
What the fuck? This is such trash (if true)
-
I think that Ricky's firing is a sign that the Sox are going to get really serious about winning it all and that the payroll will reflect that. My gut says that somewhere in the neighborhood of $140M is where we end up this season.
-
Or he objected to it and team ownership told him to stand down.
-
Pass on the Odorizzi idea. No thanks
-
Lord. Only the White Sox would be dumb enough to do that.
-
Ok, so the only thing we know for certain is that it won't be Hasler.
-
I hope that the actual Pitching Coach position is Zaleski, but if other people are added in analytics roles from outside the organization I think that'd be great. Frankly, a larger analytics department on both the hitting and pitching side would be a welcome change.
-
I think it's either Zaleski or Teaford. Katz could get a look and that'd certainly be interesting given the other names in Lucas' HS rotation, but RH seemed pretty adamant about pointing out how many great in-house options we have.
-
Not to suggest that Coop didn't do anything, but what else is Giolito going to say in that situation? "Boy, my current pitching coach really isn't worth a damn so I went back to my high school coach to fix me." Of course he is going to credit Coop, especially on the record. Only Lucas knows exactly how the turnaround happened and he's never going to come right out and say it because he's not that type of guy.

I didn't watch much of the Astros when Hinch was there, but can anyone speak to how those teams were from a fundamental standpoint? Things like defense, baserunning, etc? I know that there were times this season where stuff like executing a rundown or taking an extra base felt like real challenges and that's the type of stuff that really needs to be second nature. Just curious as to how Hinch prepares his guys in the event that he is the hire.

AJ Hinch: does it matter to you that he cheated?

Nah. -
Rick Hahn is Sporting News Executive of the Year
oneofthemikes replied to maloney.adam's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Since baseball is a sport where the results of executive-ing aren't always immediately apparent, I assume that this award is more of a cumulative achievement award. This season, a team that had been "mired in mediocrity" for the better part of a decade became a powerhouse. So I'm not looking at this as a one-year turnaround award, more like a "this is the year everything came together" award. -
Gross. No thanks.
-
Just what a swagger-filled team of 22 to 25 year-olds really needs, an octagenarian that has openly expressed his disdain for analytics.
-
Agreed. Analytics aside, TLR doesn't seem like he'd fit the personality of this team at all.
-
Fair enough. Throw his name off my list, but my question remains.
-
Maybe Nightengale saying "Right now, he's their number 1 candidate..." is simply because he's the only candidate they can officially speak to at the moment? Hinch - Suspended Cora - Suspended Cash (pipedream) - Playoffs Espada - Playoffs Quatraro - Playoffs
-
What'd he say?

AJ Hinch: does it matter to you that he cheated?
oneofthemikes replied to Kyyle23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The "assbag ring leader" was Cora, as evidenced by Boston also getting busted while he was there. Hinch found out about it, destroyed the monitor on more than one occasion, and supposedly notified higher-ups in the organization. He didn't shut it all the way down, and that's on him. But you're acting like he's Lex Luthor and masterminded the entire operation. -
That's honestly a fantastic point that I hadn't thought about
-
Perfect! That's just like a few years ago when there was a rumor about Condoleeza Rice being interviewed for the Browns HC job
-
Is there any possibility that TLR actually does get hired by the Sox, but is simply here in an advisory capacity the way he is with the Angels? (Not crazy about that idea either considering the Angels have had the best player on the planet for the last decade and have absolutely zero to show for it).
-
So what other names are we going to see pop up in the next couple weeks before we're actually able to interview Hinch?
