  1. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:35 AM) They wanted more offense from the C position, something Flowers was severely lacking. They sure didn't expect Navarro having the worst year of his career. Oh well. Can't blame the Sox for ditching Flowers, he was bad in 2015 and nobody could predict the bounce back he is having in Atlanta

  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:31 AM) I think former top prospect reclamation project isn't the worst player type to pursue with a guy like Frazier on .5 a year. Owens and Swihart have little to no value right now though. While the price for Frazier may not be high, I would much rather look for younger players that have some upside instead of 24-25 washed up prospects. Owens is walking 7.8 batters per 9 IP in the minors this season, YIKES! He turns 25 in July. Swihart is 25 and has a .607 OPS in the minors this season. Tons of injury problems in the past. Give me 18-21 year olds with upside any day over those guys
  4. QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 01:45 AM) I honestly think all joking aside Swihart is a reasonable piece to come back for Frazier two of these five: Swihart, Beeks, Ball, Mars & Lin. Swihart has no trade value at this point, he cannot stay healthy and his production has been terrible. He's 25 years old and not getting any younger as well. I'd much rather look for younger players that still have upside.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 08:22 AM) But if he averaged a 0.5 WAR and they didn't extend him, he would be much cheaper. Hopefully, eventually he will make the extension look astute. Right now it looks like a gift to the Anderson family. You win some, you lose some, but he still has a ton of time to make it look really good. In the grand scheme of things, $25 million over 6 seasons is not that much of a gamble on a player who has considerable upside. If he becomes a halfway decent starting mlb SS he's easily worth that money
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 09:43 PM) Yeah, I know...this is just fun for fans to pass the time while we cheer for a rotten team. No need to constantly piss on all of us and then not offer your own thoughts. Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine. I threw some proposals out there for fun. Maybe they are insane to some? But I don't think they are. No need for any poster to be condecending, but provide alternative facts proposals of your own to further discussion. White Sox won't deal quintana unless the return makes sense
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 08:27 PM) Just do Frazier for Swihart and move on Swihart is worthless at this point
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 09:10 PM) Jesus, this is such bulls***. Do you recognize how condescending and just f***ing rude it comes off when you guys post this? Put your almighty wisdom on the line and tell us what we should expect then. We are all outsider fans (for the most part) here. None of us really know what will happen. Until a trade happens it's impossible to say whether we will be happy or not
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 06:59 PM) Agreed some of these proposals are ludicrous. We have to trust the organization to make the right call with regards to the return. With so much at stake in trading quintana, I'm sure it will be a very calculated return.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 04:00 PM) Of note on Micker, last year he had 283 PA's and struck out 96 times, for a K rate of 33.9%. This year he is at 266 PA's with 78 K's, so that has come down to 29.3%. He had 15 BB in 283 PAs for a walk rate of once per 18.87 PAs, this year it is 14 in 266 PA's or 19 PA/BB. K/BB has gone from 6.4 to 5.6. He isn't walking any more, but he is making a lot more contact. Small sample size, but he has started to walk more as of late. He also seems to have a knack for getting hit by pitches, hence the fairly high obp for the low walk rate. Hansen did very well against low a ball competition as a 22 year old ( would be college senior). He needs to continue to prove it against high A competition the rest of the season to warrant a top 100 ranking, but he's on the cusp.
  11. QUOTE (Tony @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 02:30 PM) For you, the guy that sits in front of his computer and posts here? Nothing at all. For a Front Office that does this for a living? That extension becomes a lot more expensive while Anderson "earns" his extension. It was a calculated risk. Brutal, and I love it
  12. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 04:24 PM) He shouldn't be off the table. I don't think the Cubs include Happ and Jimenez for Quintana.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 04:24 PM) You obviously know your farm systems better than me, but do you think maybe you are writing off some of these guys a bit hastily? I'm not writing them off completely, but Glasnow, Meadows, Newman's stock are all undoubtedly down right now, somewhat big time.
  14. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 04:21 PM) So is Ian Happ just off the table now because he got called up? Not necessarily, but teams are less likely to part with productive major league pieces at the deadline. Happ has been a quality player in his cup of tea, making him less likely to be moved I feel.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 04:16 PM) Yeah, there is no doubt this makes sense for the Cubs. But you think you are basically going to get those three guys but not that package I mentioned earlier from the Braves? I also dispute that Q will necessarily go to a contender. I think he likely will, but as I posted a few weeks ago, his contract and general makeup make him attractive for a team like the Braves or the Pirates in my estimation as well. Perhaps Pirates farm system has largely taken a dump this season. Newman sporting a .628 OPS and Meadows (injured) with a .671 is pretty weak. Keller has been good, but has also dealt with injury issues. I'm glad we never got a Q to the Pirates deal done, I think we would have ended up regretting it.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 04:13 PM) The Cubs top 3 for Q? Yeah, done. Their system really falls off after Jimenez. Who else would you realistically accept that is not on the major league roster? (Not Schwarber either, I doubt he gets moved) Jimenez/De la Cruz/Candelario? Anything less and I don't think it would be a good deal for the Sox
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:54 PM) You may very well be right...I suppose I just have my own preference of a position player headlining the deal, which keeps bringing me to Maitan. I drool over the superstar potential of Maitan as well, but if we are looking at a deadline deal for Q it will be to a contender. Despite being across town, Quintana to the Cubs makes alot of sense. Arrieta is likely gone after this season, and Lackey is looking washed up. Would a Jimenez/Cease/Candelario deal end up benefiting both sides? Cubs window is the next 2-3 seasons before players start hitting expensive arbitration years and Lester really ages. Quintana gives them a cost controlled starter, keeping money free to pursue a high priced free agent starter. Cubs do not have any minor league starters that are close to the major league level right now. I don't think this ends up happening, but in a vacuum it makes sense for each side.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:44 PM) If you want to make a deal with the Braves, I just think he makes the most sense. It may turn out that there are other packages from other teams that make more sense. The Braves farm is so deep that I think they could come up with many compelling offers if they really wanted to get something done.
  19. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:43 PM) I'd like Maitan, but not as the center piece. Way too young and inexperienced to be the center piece in a Q deal. Q is our last major trade chip and I agree that the Sox won't want to center a deal around such a young player as Maitan. Plus, his mlb ETA would have to be late 2020 or 2021 at the earliest right now?
  20. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:40 PM) Can always convert middle infielders into outfielders since they are athletic enough. And are we all convinced that Moncada will lock down 2B with his defense? Or will he be one of those guys who breaks in as a MI but ends up in the OF? Moncada's weakest tool is arguably his defense. With his arm and speed I really wonder how he would do in center field? Very hypothetically speaking, you could move Moncada to center, and have Albies play 2B.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:32 PM) His arm does nothing for you at 2b. His speed and ability to get on base are going to be your largest areas of improvement over Sanchez, and while those may even be fairly significant, is that really the best use of your assets? Particularly when you consider Moncada? Not saying the dude won't be a very good player, but unfortunately he just isn't a great fit for us. I would be looking at acquiring the best players available, almost regardless of position at this point in the rebuild. I doubt Atlanta would even want to part with Albies. Outside of power, there is not much to not like about him, and he can play multiple positions.
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:21 PM) I've mentioned it before, but there's a lot about Albies game reminds me of Yolmer Sanchez. Sanchez appears to be a pretty decent player, but do you want a slightly better version of him being the main piece you acquire in return for Quintana? I'm really not a big fan. Albies projects to be a far better player than Sanchez. 60/65 hit tool, 40/45 power, 65/70 speed, 55/60 field, 55/60 arm = a very good player with major upside A .759 OPS at age 20 in AAA is very impressive and Albies has the tools to be part of a championship roster as a great #1 or #2 hitter
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:16 PM) Agreed. I'm hoping he's suggesting something like Maitan/Pache/Jackson is fair? Way too much risk for the White Sox in a Maitan/Pache/Jackson package in my opinion. Maitan is 17 and has yet to have a professional at bat, and Pache has just recently started to break out. Sox will be looking for more established prospects most likely. I just don't see the Braves having deadline interest, but they could emerge if Quintana is still on the market in the offseason.
  24. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:14 PM) So bottom line, are you suggesting he needs to be the second piece, or that he is too valuable to be the second piece? I'm not necessarily suggesting that he needs to be any piece per se. Just that he is a guy we should expect to be cropping up in top 100 lists as having the potential to be a .285 batting average, 15 home run, elite defensive center fielder with plus speed. He would be a great third piece, although he has likely risen his stock too high to be a third player in a major trade is what I meant.
  25. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:00 PM) What is so exciting about Pache? Obviously he is young, and looks like a nice talent. But his low A ball numbers are fairly pedestrian for an OF, and seems like an awful like way away. As the 3rd or 4th piece? Sure. But thats what I'd be looking at him as. http://notesfromthesally.com/2017/04/27/my...cf-rome-braves/ This very recent scouting report ranks Pache as the 3rd best prospect in the Sally league right now. "Conclusion: Pache is an exciting young player with 5 loud tools on display. We could be looking at a player with the potential to hit 280+, with power in the teens and 25+ SB. With well above average CF defense. That’s a very exciting player." You have to remember, Pache is only 18 years old until November and is batting .295 in low A ball against much older competition.
