  2. I actually hope we do at this stage
  3. why overpay if a deal does not make sense?
  4. I would rather the Sox stand pat than overpay for help right now The young core is going to need waves of prospect depth to use as trade capital and injury depth
  5. I get that^ I just do not think Ray would change or fortunes all that much
  6. I'm a little surprised to see how willing many are to deal away from our limited minor league depth at this stage of the contention window as well. While guys like Stiever are far from untouchable, you really need to have that SP depth in your system moving forward due to injuries. I'd be cautious about trading close to the MLB talent right now.
  7. I think Sox deal for Kevin Gausman and give up a guy like Gavin Sheets David Phelps could be a possibility for a low level guy? Standing pat is not out of the question, but I think they make at least one trade. No major blockbuster expected.
  8. Ray would have been a roll of the dice with how terrible he has pitched in 2020. Not sure he ever made sense to the Sox
  9. lots of people forget how terrible Giolito was in 2018 before eventually figuring things out. Sox fans need to give Cease time, it is not an issue of stuff, but rather commanding his pitches consistently and hitting spots.
  10. very little White Sox smoke considering the deadline is less than three hours away
  11. As of right now, Cease most likely? Potentially Gio Gonzalez?
  12. have not seen that Heuer news. He is not traveling with the club?
  13. 4-5 starts of Gausman could not be all that costly I would be willing to bet He helps stabilize the rotation down the stretch and we do not part with anything we will miss
  14. I'm still sticking by my Kevin Gausman rental prediction. It makes sense to acquire a short term solution and add longer terms pieces this offseason.
  15. Could see Adrian Houser making some sense
  16. I agree, but why not just acquire a rental like Gausman and address longer term adds in the offseason? He should not be costly via trade
  17. Kevin Gausman could likely be acquired as a low cost rental
  18. I do not think the Sox give up a haul for Lynn. It will likely either be a rental type, or potentially a starter under longer control
  19. All that for roughly 36 starts of a pitcher who turns 34 next May? I will pass We tanked an entire season to select Madrigal and install him as our 2B moving forward. He is not getting traded for a player with limited control remaining, if traded at all.
  20. Vaughn was the best hitter in college baseball in 2019, and absolutely will be MLB ready in 2021. I think you are underestimating how good of a hitter he is. Sox are rumored to be considering even calling him up in 2020 if Encarnacion did not show improvement.
  21. Sox are not sinking over $28 million annually into the catcher position, it just is not happening^
  22. I love McCann, but I think he will get a multi year offer for starting catcher money this offseason from another club. How much money can the Sox sink into the catcher position as well? As for Vaughn, you absolutely do not trade him at this stage. Encarnacion is gone after this season, and replacing him in house with Vaughn would free up roughly $11 million in payroll. Vaughn is viewed as the long term answer at 1B for the Sox and should be MLB ready early 2021.
  23. I really do not think the Sox are looking to give up that sort of depth for what would be a short term fix. What pitching depth we have will be vital down the line as we have seen how expensive it is to both trade for SP and sign it in free agency. Injuries happen all the time, and Stiever is likely MLB ready at some point in 2021. If we make a move I think it will be for a backend starter
  24. IDK about great starter, but I can see Dunning developing into a solid #4/5 on a true contender, which is invaluable.
