  1. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:48 PM) No it's full rebuild time. no half ass effort go ALL the way! Quintana is going to be extraordinarily expensive if he gets dealt. His cheap four years of control will mean at least two elite prospects go back to the sox plus more
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:47 PM) And they now have seen two other teams pay a high price for Sale and Eaton. They will be asking themselves the question soon...who do we need more, Bregman or Quintana? Quintana would be their number one starting pitcher arguably, or number two at worst. If Houston is serious about competing soon they need to make a move for a starting pitcher. Charlie Morton isn't cutting it.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:24 PM) Well, it will not be the depth. We now know that there IS a pull of quantity v. quality. And getting Rodgers back means not much more than that will return. I like the prestige of Reed but his cup of tea did scare me (and he had two). I'd be fine sox going after Tucker as their main piece from Houston and getting 3-4 of their low a level guys. But Tucker/Fisher/Stubbs seems very doable. Reed/Tucker/Stubbs realistic. Those packages seem light for four seasons of Quintana. Sale got us two top 30 prospects, plus basabe plus a flyer...q
  4. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:51 PM) Astros have a ton of hitting prospects. Don't know how their system wouldn't excite anyone, with or without Bergman. Tucker Reed Cameron Teoscar Hernandez Derek Fisher Ramon Laureano Garrett Stubbs If we can get any 3 of those position players + any 1 of Martes, Whitley, Paulino, Musgrove, or Franklin Perez I'm a happy camper honestly. Realistic offer? Tucker, Reed, Laureano/Stubbs and Paulino/Perez? Pick your preference on the last 2. I'd aim for a bigger return than that. Quintana should return nearly the same value as sale did, especially due to the fourth year of control.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:36 PM) And they did it by loading up on position players. Bryant, Schwarber, Soler, Russell, Baez, etc. Notice a theme there? Then they spent money to get established pitching. Don't judge the rebuild just yet. You can never have too much pitching depth. We still have pieces to dangle for position players and more pitching. Q could bring a really nice return, Frazier, Robertson, abreu, Jones, melky all have some value We have the 11th overall pick in the 2017 draft, and likely a top 5 pick the next two seasons
  6. QUOTE (kwill @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:08 PM) I just don't think they have the caliber of the top level guys that the Red Sox and Nationals did. Quintana has huge trade value on the open market If bregman is off the table I want martes, reed, tucket plus another piece or two
  7. QUOTE (Wanne @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:06 PM) This is the most excitement I've felt for this team in quite a while. How on earth could you not love the players the Sox got the last few days?!? I get the Sale love...but didn't win with him. I get the Eaton love...loved his grit...but good Lord...that's a great return! Moncada Kopech Basabe Diaz Giolito Lopez Dunning If Hahn somehow squeezes Bregman from the Stros I'll pledge my eternal love!!! Don't see the sox getting bregman, but what a start to the rebuild. A few more moves and you're talking about a totally different franchise
  8. QUOTE (Soxnfins @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:20 PM) Was about to say. We pretty much dealt Santiago for Eaton which turned into Gilito, Lopez, and Dunning. We shall see how it works out to see if we won twice. Not sure how we do not consider this trade a win because we were going to suck the next two seasons at a minimum anyways. Eaton wouldn't have mattered. Shop Quintana for bats, or hell, keep him if you can't land what you want. Our farm system has completely changed in the last 36 hours from a bottom five to fringe top 10, possibly higher with another few moves 1) Moncada 2) Giolito 3) Kopech 4) Lopez 5) Collins 6) Fulmer 7) Burdi 8) Dunning 9) Adams 10) Basabe 11) Tilson 12) Engel 13) Hansen 14) Michaelczewski 15) Fisher That is a dramatically improved system
  9. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:11 PM) Some reaction from the Winter Meetings: We all owe Hector Santiago's fluky 2013 to thank for this happening!
  10. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:06 PM) Agreed let's hope we finish the Q deal tonight too lol. But don't count a Fraizer and Robertson deal to LA if they miss out on Turner and Their closer. We could get Bellinger Puig vertigo back as part of a package too. Holy crap! Giolito, Lopez and Dunning for Eaton Huge haul of arms to the Sox
  11. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:42 PM) Giolito, Lopez, Severino would work. I would strongly consider Giolito, Lopez and Severino
  12. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:41 PM) No Robles. Ken Rosenthal ‏ Sources: #Nationals close to acquiring Eaton from #WhiteSox. Robles not in deal. With no Robles it would have to have Giolito or Lopez as the headliner. Disappointing to hear no Robles, but I'm sure there will be some solid depth if a deal gets done
  13. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:40 PM) Why do people like Robles exactly? From looking at stats, he seems to be several years away and generally has the same skill set as Adam Eaton. No idea about defense. What is the point of this? Victor Robles Scouting: Scouting grades: Hit: 60 | Power: 45 | Run: 70 | Arm: 65 | Field: 60 | Overall: 60 That is the potential to be an all star center fielder^^^ Those types of players don't grow on trees
  14. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) Robles, Lopez, Stevenson, Severino seems like a fair deal for an all-star caliber RF cheaply under team control for 5 years. I think that is more than the Nats would be willing to give up
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:33 PM) That doesn't get me that excited. I want Robles + Giolito/Lopez. It might not be as exciting, but it makes sense for both teams Eaton is not getting us Robles/Lopez or Robles/Giolito but Robles + Fedde + Severino would be a very nice all around return I feel. Remember, we really really need organizational depth at nearly every position
  16. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:30 PM) If this happens, I don't think it's an accident Sale and Eaton went first and second. I sniff a Robles + Fedde + Severino deal for Eaton
  17. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:28 PM) I like that package for just Q. Adding Jones should bring about 3 more names, at least 2 of which are high quality. Quintana alone is not getting the White Sox Martes, Tucker, Reed and Musgrove If so I would accept that deal and move forward with the rebuild
  18. QUOTE (kwill @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) More than likely the Sox leave with just making the Sale trade. I don't know about you guys but it seems to me that you will not get premier value for Quintana or Abreu in this market. I would hold them for mid-season or next offseason to trade. The guys I deal are Eaton, Frazier, Robertson and Jones. Jones would even be worth keeping if you believe he can close games for you. His value would sky rocket if he can be as successful as closer as he has been in middle relief. If Jones performs well as a closer he could be a nice trade chip at the deadline to a contender
  19. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) f*** it, I'll throw some s*** out there because I'm bored while waiting for the next trade to drop. How about Q + Jones to Houston for Kyle Tucker, AJ Reed, Joe Musgrove and Francis Martes? That is actually a fairly interesting trade proposal to think about Martes + Tucker is a decent centerpiece to a Quintana deal. I'm not sure Houston wants to part with Musgrove or Reed in that deal though
  20. QUOTE (peppers312 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:56 PM) if that's the case, then you leverage the players you want from WSH and you use that as your benchmark for dealing with any other teams. the White Sox are dealing from a position of power. they have the pieces other teams wants. there's no need to rush or settle for anything less than what Hahn wants. True Right now the White Sox are one of the few organizations that are actively willing to trade quality mlb talent. I would not settle, but at the same time if a deal exists out there I would not shy away from making it and moving forward
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:41 PM) A reasonable proposal or a proposal that is purposefully light because it's coming from just one org? Quintana - #2 Robles/#4 Fedde/#8 Stevenson/#14 Severino Eaton - #3 Lopez/#7 Neuse/#11 Banks/#30 Reetz This leaves then with their #1, 5, 6, 9 & 10 guys still intact. Does it hurt them? Yes. Are they much better now? Yes. And guess what? If they lose Harper in two years, they can move Q and Eaton then to restock much of that system. I'm just not sure I want to try and squeeze that much value out of one organization's prospects I'd rather individually deal Q and Eaton
  22. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:39 PM) I'm not sure Eaton has "limited tools". However, I see your argument, and I could agree...to a point. If you factor in the cost and recent performance, Eaton has more value. Heyward is owed $28 million next year. Easton is owed $28 million over the next FOUR years. Who has more potential? Heyward, probably. Who is more valuable? Eaton, especially to a team who might be looking to upgrade their outfield without spending a fortune. Given the contract, Eaton will almost undoubtedly be the better value.
  23. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) I'm a little inclined to agree on Abreu. It would be good to move him when teams are more desperate, especially if Abreu has a strong first half next year. A strong half by Abreu could make him one of the most valuable bats at the deadline He can play crappy defense at 1B or DH for an American league team Am I nuts, or do the Rangers appear to be in serious need of a 1B/DH? Why wouldn't they be interested in Abreu? (Side note...wow that Shin Soo Choo signing has backfired on the Rangers)
  24. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) Frazier for Calhoun and Buehler. Would the Dodgers take it? Doubtful
  25. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:16 PM) First of all, let Rizzo worry about his farm. Second, why that offer? That's way light and we all know it. Why so light? It's light because I am trying to come up with a reasonable proposal (not fan driven monster packages) No team will back up the truck and dump the entire farm for one or two players not named Trout, Betts, Bryant or Seager
