  1. I would let him compete for a starting rotation spot in spring training If that does not work can always put him in the bullpen
  2. Shrewd move and I like that they can give him a shot as a starter or a reliver Solid peripherals, size and a really nice 2024 season
  3. It would have to be Made + Pratt plus at least one or two more solid prospects for a deal to work in my mind Made looked stellar in 2024, but is still ages away from the MLB level and carries extreme risk in his profile for that reason. I’m not sure the White Sox are the type of organization to effectively develop a 17 year old position prospect to his full potential.
  4. Montas looks like a beast, but is probably going to be a DH only at the next level three team deal has lots of interesting possibilities
  5. I'd love Collier, but hard to imagine the Reds dealing him considering the upside A .798 OPS in high A ball as a 19 year old is rerally impressive
  6. Messinger could be an interesting flier on potential backend starter Solid peripherals in AA. Not a ton of ceiling, but there is a shot he actually sticks as a starting pitcher.
  7. What you are talking about is his ceiling What is not talked about is the floor and likely result Again, Mayo could be a big time stud...but if he cannot stick on the field defensively, he really would need to rake to have much value as a DH type Not going to crucify a 22 year old for a 17 game cup of coffee at the MLB level, but he was totally overmatched, striking out nearly 50% of his at bats. Lets not pretend he is ready to mash the MLB right away.
  8. From Baseball America this summer on Mayo: " Mayo has some of the best power in the minors. He’s hit .308/.384/.619 with 23 home runs in 81 games. The biggest questions surrounding Mayo’s readiness revolve around his defense. He’s had throwing accuracy issues–nine of his 10 errors at third base have come on inaccurate throws. He’s really struggled when he’s asked to play first base. Mayo has committed six errors in just 20 games at first base, including three errors in 11 games at first base in July." My take: I will ignore his 17 game MLB call up that was a disaster for the time being, he is only 22. Read between the lines, Mayo is a defensive liability that may not be able to stick at anything but DH. Sox need to look for players that can actually stick on the field defensively in a trade.
  9. The extension is tricky, as there is arguably more risk for the club than reward with him being two seasons away from free agency There would have to be an element of team friendliness to the deal I would imagine?
  10. Not sure how much I like the Orioles as a trade fit for the White Sox Their two top prospects, Mayo and Basallo are likely 1B/DH and maybe a catcher in Basallo. They each could be great players, but those are not the positions I would look for in a Crochet return.
  11. That future value also assumes that those prospects actually pan out, which many never do Crochet, assuming health, looks like a strong bet to perform in the next two seasons for whoever acquires him
  12. Campbell + Montgomery would be a terrific start to a package of 3-4 prospects
  13. I like Mayer, but the nagging injuries give me Moncada vibes
  14. Kristian Campbell would be a terrific headliner in a deal as well He raked across three different levels in 2024
  15. Crochet is a total steal at $2,9 million this year and even arbitration next year should not be anythign that crazy, maybe $10 million or so?
  16. I never thought Abreu made much sense for the White Sox either Sox are years away from fielding a competitive roster, and Abreu's service clock has already started ticking. Prospects the Sox can stash for another season or so would be much more appealing and better medium to longer term
  17. Yep No reason to trade Robert for the sake of trading him at a lesser value this offseason "But what if he gets hurt?" - So what? Dealing him for a mediocre return does not help the club's future either
  18. Sox best bet would be to keep Robert and hope he stays healthy and is productive in the first half He could be a strong trade chip at the deadline for a contender in that case Right now I just do not think the returns would be enough to justify trading him
  19. Sox are in all liklihood stuck with Benintendi for the time being They have to hope he can build off his much better second half and restablish some value in 2025
  20. No question the Sox have to start making better moves if they want any hope of digging out from the mess that the organization is in New manager and coaching staff could be the start of that, but nailing the Crochet deal is the next major step
  21. I like Thorpe, and think he can have a nice career as a starting pitcher His ceiling is likely a #3 at best and more likely a solid #4 due to the below average fastball He is a good prospect, but not the sort of pitcher a club like the Padres would be scared to move Iriarte is still a question mark on if he is a starter or reliever. His stuff regressed a bit and the velocity dipped in 2024. Zavala looked overmatched as a younster vs high A pitching. He has to make more contact if there is a MLB future.
  22. We did Jury is still out on that trade, but does not seem like a great deal for the Sox
  23. Think you are forgetting about the offense just a little bit...
  24. Probably a guy in a teams 7-10 prospect range if I had to guess
  25. The Sox are a disater, and watering down the trade return of your best trade asset would be criminal You have to receive prospects with blue chip upside if you are moving him
