  1. Agreed I don't see why they would not consider picking up that option. If he is healthy that is a really reasonable price
  2. Trading Robert while his value is arguably at its lowest would be a bad move I doubt the offers would be all that good right now, why settle? If he has a solid first half he could be an attractiove deadline trade piece
  3. No way Getz waters down a Crochet deal by including Benintendi He's already getting flack for his previous trades and knows he cannot blow this one
  4. I would be surprised if the Sox took back players who have already burned service time as the main pieces in return Logic would suggest prospects who have not had their clocks started yet is in the Sox best interests
  5. I do not see Robert getting traded, as it would likely mean they sold low on him Sox are better off keeping him and hoping that he rebuilds his trade value
  6. I would prefer the Sox target prospects that have more ceiling and that could be stashed for at least a season in the minors while the MLB club is terrible. Abreu a fine player, but is he a guy that moves the needle much? He is way better against RHP (.825 OPS vs .532 OPS vs lefties in 2024) which brings platoon bat concerns.
  7. I mean what is he suppossed to say? Sox absolutely should have him start the season in AAA and prove he deserves to be called up to the majors. Zero reason to rush him.
  8. I really like Crochet, let me start with that I also feel like there is more risk for the White Sox in an extension at this point than reward with him being two years removed from free agency and a limited track record as a starting pitcher Even a theoretical front loaded contract would still likely require opt outs that favor Crochet, and I just dop not see the club being competitive for the next two seasons any way you slice it.
  9. I get the devil's advoate approach used here, but with how putrid the club's offense is and will be moving forward I am not sure how they could justify not cashing Crochet in for position prospects? Why would Crochet want to resign here vs be dealt and sign with a contender?
  10. Vaughn has trade value? I figure the Sox will non tender him
  11. I really like the Phillies as a trade fit, and it has been suggested they were close to trading for him at the deadline but refused to include Andrew Painter in the package. I still think a compelling package could get done with some combination of their prospects
  12. I totally agree with this^ It is in the Sox best interest to trade Crochet to the highest bidder this offseason There is argably more risk in exploring an extension than potential reward two seasons away from free agency, and the club badly needs position player prospects with ceiling
  13. I doubt the Padres would be destination for Crochet, although of course I could be wrong Salas and de Vries would be of obvious interest, along with Mayfield, Bateman and Tears. I am not sure they would be willing to part with either of those top guys and they are both also quite a way from the majors. I would guess Sox are looking for position player(s) they are only 1-2 seasons away from a callup, otherwise this rebuild will take forever
  14. All good Bringing this thread back on topic Certain clubs like the Phillies, Red Sox, and Orioles seem to have the position player prospects the Sox would covet in a trade I do not love the Mets as a fit Dodgers always could get involved?
  15. If you were him, why the hell would you sign with the White Sox? It is not even a remote consideration coming off the worst season of all time.
  16. Would be our worst nightmare and a cheery on top of this s%*# sandwich of a season if Getz blew a major trade like Crochet or Robert Unless you are getting a sky high, clear overpay of a return they should keep him. Force another club to really pony up if they want him.
  17. Scott II has had a really rough 2024 season, as has Walker Could be a buy low opportunity, but I would rather target players with helium vs. top prospects who are struggling
  18. They are in a tough spot in that unless you are going to spend big at the top of the market, you cannot really afford to be trading away your best prospects I agree they need to add higher end pitching to really have a shot at a deep playoff run
  19. Those would be some outstanding deals for the White Sox, especially the Baltimore deal. Hard to imagine they would part with anywhere near that much talent though.
  20. The Crochet deal is a pretty nice package of prospect for sure Robert deal is not close at all. No deal for Sox. Fedde return would be extemely weak. No deal for Sox.
  21. Especially with a guy like Fedde who is signed for a really reasonable $7.5 million next season. If he kept pitching this well and was a free agent he would easily be entertaining 3+ year offers for $15+ million annually
  22. Sellers tend to have the advantage this time of year. Pressure is on contending clubs to add meaningful pieces ofr a playoff push, and if the pricetag is not met you just hold onto your asset as a seller. As the clock ticks closer to the deadline, the pressure will rise to make something happen. Keep waiting if I am the Sox.
  23. Also feels light to me for Crochet I need one sure fire headlining prospect of the caliber that onl;y gets dealt in a blockbuster plus more Rushing, Freeland and Ferris are all really good prospects, but I would not call any of them elite.
