  1. Nats farm is pretty weak. Sure they could swing a deal, but outside of their top guys not a whole lot appeals to me.
  2. Feels like sellers are understandably holding out for high asking prices and are in a standoff with buyers this season. Contenders will have tremendous pressure with the inability to make moves after the deadline. Patience will be key here.
  3. Padres are likely sellers along with the Sox. Not sure I see a deal between the two teams that would make sense.
  4. If current offers are not more than mid tier prospects I wouldn't be inclined to move him either.
  5. Hard to argue the Sox could get a better prospect for Colome than Haseley, if the Phillies would even trade him at this point? Can't think they would be eager to give up on him so soon
  6. If the Sox are dealing Colome, I am sure they would be targeting prospects/players that are close to MLB ready. I would expect a player that is at least in AA to headline.
  7. I absolutely would be asking for Howard in a Colome deal. Unless we can extract solid value we do not have to deal him. Doubtful Philly would be willing to move him though
  8. Health has been an issue for Nimmo, but I would absolutely consider a deal like that. It's unlikely that a club would trade four of it's top 20 prospects in a single deal though.
  9. Stiever is arguably our breakout prospect so far in 2019, along with Robert. Hope the Sox do not get too tempted and end up dealing him. Some rival scouts feel Stiever is the best arm in the Sox system.
  10. Exactly. Mazara's trade value is not huge right now. I'd rather have 4 years of control on Lopez. Young pitching can take time to figure things out at the mlb level, and Mazara's performance has left a ton to be desired.
  11. Teams could do way worse for a 4th outfielder.second basemen than Tony Kemp. Sox should certainly take a look at this guy if available.
  12. Only thing going for Mazara is age and talent. I agree with this post, unless the cost is cheap then why deal anything of value for him?
  13. Lets not kid ourselves, a big part of that trade was the Yankees eating the remainder of Robertson and Frazier's contract. Sox were able to dump over $20 million in salary I believe
  14. You really do not see teams take on bad salary in exchange for prospects all that often at the mlb level. These sorts of trades are way more common in the NBA.
  15. Sox are in a good position because guys like Colome and Bummer are not rentals, they do not have to be traded. I really think we will see contender's ponying up to acquire playoff push help, and relievers are always in demand.
  16. Agreed. I thought I was one of the few pushing for the Sox to possibly not extend Abreu. Anything beyond a reasonable one year deal would be an overpay at this stage.
  17. I highly doubt Vaughn would be called up anytime in 2020. Best case scenario would be he plays well in the AFL this year, starts 2020 in AA ball, getting a promotion in June/July to AAA, plays in AAA and gets a callup mid-late April 2021. Unless a player is on a pure superstar trajectory, you cannot get through the minors a whole lot faster than the above^
  18. I'm starting to think Madrigal absolutely should be up mid-late April 2020 as well for this reason. I was concerned about his ceiling before, but the more I think about it Madrigal is the type of player who could be relied for 3 - 5 WAR year after year with his hit tool, speed and plus defense. With a juiced ball, I can easily see him reaching 10-15 home runs with his bat control. I really do not think he will be challenged all that much by AA/AAA, and he will be MLB ready soon. Gain the additional season of control and call him up with Robert.
  19. With it being a hard trade deadline, I'm sure sellers are keeping their asking prices high. Contenders will be forced to pony up if they want to add talent for a WS run. Prices always come down to reality closer to the deadline, but Sox shouldn't let Colome/Bummer/etc. go on the cheap.
  20. Sox need to still be able to retain flexibility to add to the roster after the 2020 season as well. I really think this offseason will end up being far more measured than most, with the future in mind. Shopping in the second/third tier of free agents on shorter term deals will give the club options moving forward. As sexy as a Cole/Rendon signing would be, slim chance of it happening.
  21. This has been beaten to death, but the additional season of prime Robert control is too important to waste on a non-competitive season. The front office has to both manage the short, medium and long term outlook of the club. Robert has the potential to be a star, you absolutely need to gain the additional year of control.
  22. You realize that offseason would easily cost over +$80 million right? Not happening unfortunately
  23. Ozuna will have an interesting market. His age is certainly a plus, but he's not exactly a world beater either. I could see a market of a three year deal for 45-60 million being realistic?
  24. Ozuna would be a really nice fit in RF for the Sox.
  25. I'm not sure the fanbase is really on the same page. Yes, not signing Machado sucked badly. That does not mean we should expect the organization to go hog wild in free agency right away. Rendon/Cole are not realistic targets.
