Comp balance needs to go. Why should some clubs be given an annual built in advantage? I get that the big boys dominate the spending, but no other league does that. Teams could still receive comp picks for losing big free agents, but I don't think teams should lose valuable draft picks. I'm sure a balance could be had.
-
Sox were never serious suitors for Kimbrel. They are not ready to go all in on spending to contend, and might not be ready until after next season.
-
Quality starting pitching is always going to be really expensive in free agency. Sox need to take a hard look at themselves and determine if they are really willing to finally outbid other clubs for the premium talent? Until proven otherwise we have every reason to doubt. Cole/Wheeler/Bumgarner/Rendon all would be pricey additions
-
A few things to unpack here: 1) White Sox currently would not make sense to sign Kimbrel, he wanted to go to a clear contender. 2) Signing a free agent with the sole intention of flipping him in a month is just bad business. Good luck luring premium free agents to your organization again if they did this. 3) Kimbrel has zero to do with drafting a prep arm in the second round
-
In the new CBA I really hope they do away with Free Agent signings resulting in loss of second round draft picks, as well as getting rid of competitive balance picks. It's insane to me that certain clubs have an annual built in draft advantage over other clubs.

Brody Feldmann @BFeldo14 · 19h Mustang's Logan Glass has been drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 22nd round (650th pick) as a center fielder. "It hasn't hit me yet," Glass said. "Yeah, I'm going." #okpreps #StangNation #WhiteSox Glass is on board
-
I believe he only has one minor league option remaining, and I do not think this is the time to waste that. Keep trotting him out there for now.

Really Really hope we end up with more than just Yolbert Sanchez. Not being connected to any of the top 30 for 2019 is still concerning. Sanchez shouldn't cost mroe than $2 million or so?

https://www.truebluela.com/mlb-draft/2019/6/2/18649610/mlb-amatuer-draft-top-200-prospects According to this report, the Sox grabbed 4 of the top 59 prospects in this draft. Would make for an excellent haul.

Where is Nick Madrigal at in his development?
steveno89 replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Best case scenario for Vaughn would be and early 2021 callup it seems. For a position player prospect to make it from being drafted, to the majors 12 months later would require a crazy level of production. I'd expect him late 2021 or early 2022 -
Thompson had a 0.87 ERA and struck out 124 in 72.1 innings, giving up only 23 hits, but did walk 41 He was extremely dominant
-
Onto the international signings hopefully. Although the White Sox are not currently connected to any of the top 30 international prospects. I find that shocking since they had two years to prepare for this.
-
Bush was an outlier last year. I don't really expect anyone all that interesting after round 30
-
I'm all for it! Hopefully he signs!

Baty will likely sign for around slot of $4.37 million Wolf should be at least at or slightly above slot of $1.37 million Allan reportedly is asking for $4 million, way above the $667k slot I am not seeing enough savings anywhere to get to $4 million, let alone Barco
-
No way, if Allan does not sign the Mets would lose $667k in bonus pool money. They must have planned on Allan signing. Upon second look, I genuinely do not know if the Mets will be able to sign each of their top 4 picks...
-
No way Barco signs with the Mets this late either I would imagine. The Mets bonus pool has to be tapped out after selecting Allan?
-
Hampton is going to want big money to sign. Not sure if the Padres will have enough room for him in their pool?

http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/profile.asp?ID=203277 Milto posting some solid numbers as well
-
Glass sounds like a pretty legitimate prospect!
-
I'd be shocked if the Yankees had enough pool money to sign Leiter at this point
-
He was substantially better in 2018, maybe Sox hoping he can regain that form? Could be talking out my a**, but this seems like a fairly weak draft overall.

When Madrigal gets to the White Sox...
steveno89 replied to KnightsOnMintSt's topic in FutureSox Board
Too soon to really project. -
He's the type of arm you take a chance on and see if he can be developed
-
The freaking Diamondbacks landed 13 of the MLB.com top 200 players. That is insane.
