  1. Where is this talk of Harper AND Machado coming from? Hahn already shot down the idea of signing both as being not realistic financially to have two massive contracts on the books.
  2. I really hate how every Tom, Dick and Harry with a twitter account suddenly is an insider this offseason. People are just throwing BS at the wall and seeing what sticks. I do trust Hector Gomez though, as he has no reason to stick his neck out there with Machado to the Sox unless his source was credible.
  3. Yankees I could understand if the money was close, but if the Padres signed Machado I don't think I would recover from that
  4. We can only remain hopefully Machado to the Sox gets done. I'm not sure the fanbase can handle him signing anywhere else at this point.
  5. Hector may very well be Sox fans favorite reporter if this deal comes together. He has continued to suggest Machado is going to the Sox.
  6. Some form of a swellopt 8 year/250 deal should be very competitive to getting Machado signed if true
  7. That would make for a hell of an offseason for Philly
  8. I'm buckled up for this to drag out another month. Everyone should be prepared for that.
  9. That's nothing crazy then I expect this crap to drag out another month
  10. MLB 2019 INSIDER‏ @MLB2019INSIDER 17m17 minutes ago More My sources have been proven correct 99.9% of the time. I reported yesterday that the Phillies were turning to J.T. Realmuto after being informed they were out on Machado. The #Dodgers deal for Realmuto fell through on Monday, as I reported at the time. Nasty comments= BLOCKED. Take the above with a huge grain of salt, but it does fit the timeline.
  11. If you do not know the Sox have been all over Machado for the past year, can you even call yourself a Sox fan?
  12. The Jordan tweet heavy implies something is going to happen today, which would be awesome. I refuse to get worked up anymore after such a roller coaster of an offseason. We are still likely weeks away from a resolution.
  13. Hopefully Hector has been right about this all along. He's the only source reporting this really though.
  14. Exactly this^ Announcing the signing of Machado would be met with joy. Another team announcing a deal with him would be a huge blow to the fanbase.
  15. Remember early in the offseason how all of the mania was about Harper? Technically we are still in on Harper, but everything shifted to Machado mid December or so
  16. I don't think Machado ends up getting more than $250 million at the end of the day. Max offers will be 7-8 years, topping out around 240 - 250 if I had to guess.
  17. Nobody is taking Heyward's 5 year remaining contract off the Cubs hands without getting a huge ransom in return, or dumping an equally bad contract.
  18. Sox have played this well. I really have my doubts about late suitors coming in and being willing to hand out a +$200 million contract this late in the offseason if they were not heavily planning on adding Machado/Harper at the start of free agency. Contracts like that need to be planned for.
  19. I see this dragging into late February or March, as Phillies and White Sox will just continue to wait out the Harper/Machado markets. If another serious suitor has not emerged, it is unlikely that a team will come out of nowhere to offer significantly more than where the White Sox would be willing to go. The lack of news is not necessarily a bad thing for the organization, as we are in a strong negotiating position. Machado's market will not be better with a qualifying offer attached and several years older if he signs a short term deal.
  20. I think him holding up as a starter it out of the question, which knocks his trade value way down. Until he shows he can remain healthy he just is not worth much. A 40 man roster spot is a question mark even.
  21. Durability has been a major issue for De Leon. I'm not sure he has all that much trade value right now.
  22. Makes sense completely. The misinformation has been brutal from the National guys to especially the local beat guys. We are nearing the end of this process and I would imagine the Machado/Harper saga will draw to a close in the coming few weeks. Neither player is taking a one year deal or is likely to drag negotiations into the season. Sox are in a good spot, just need to continue to be patient.
  23. I will be disappointed if they enter the season with Banuelos or Covey as the fifth starter. That has to be upgraded to something more solid.
