  1. Sad, but true. Perez and Paulino heading to Toronto, along with Giles
  2. Domestic abuse should be taken far more seriously than considering the player a "distressed asset". I really question the integrity of the Astros front office on this one.
  3. Ugly look for Houston to be trading for Osuna before his case goes to court in August.
  4. We are not at the point where we should be shipping out multiple top prospects for mlb talent. In 12 months we will have a much better idea of what we have in some of these young players.
  5. If the asking price starts with Robles, I'd imagine either Eloy, Kopech or Robert would have to be included...which I would not do. Sox won't be in on him.
  6. Bryce Bush is quietly putting up big numbers in 13 games so far in the AZL batting .425 with more walks than strikeouts, 1.061 OPS. I know the AZL isn't the great competition, but he is still only 18.
  7. Call isn't a bad prospect by any means, but he doesn't have a ton of upside to profile as a regular in the outfield. He's not really fast enough to cover center field, and lacks the power to profile as a corner. The upside is a solid 4th outfielder/bench bat, which our system has a ton of depth at right now. Jimenez/Robert/Rutherford/Adolfo/Basabe/Gonzalez/Walker/Call/Booker are all battling for a couple spots.
  8. Meh, a 27 year old journeyman minor league reliever. Not seeing much upside here. Plenty of other arms in our system will get a look before he does.
  9. There will always be 24-26 year old relief prospects available in the rule five draft each season, as teams run out of space to protect those guys in favor of other prospects. All you can do is hope a couple of these guys we acquire end up sticking
  10. Doubt Rodon gets moved. His injury history and years of control remaining make him difficult to value. The Sox would be asking for a large return and I don't think another club will pay that price. Avilan/Cedeno/Shields may get moved for a crappy return
  11. I like our system, but I'd have to say the Padres have the best farm in baseball right now. The Rays have a sneaky good system as well that nobody is really talking about. White Sox, Braves, Padres, Rays have the strongest systems right now I'd say Diamondbacks, Mariners, Red Sox, Cubs have the weakest
  12. We might start having our own 40 man roster crunch in a season or two, as we will be unable to protect all these prospects we have acquired. It's a good problem to have as some will inevitably become trade assets. On an unrelated note, The Tampa Bay Rays have very quietly assembled an impressive and deep farm system of talent. I can see them being a force in 3 seasons.
  13. Clarkin as had a rough year. He's pretty injury prone and has been too hittable in AA. His stuff does not profile well out of the bullpen either, given his low strikeout rate. I doubt any team would pick Clarkin up if left unprotected at this point.
  14. Our farm used to look very much like the Seattle Mariners...just full of crap
  15. Should be pretty easy to clear up 6-7 40 man roster spots as we trim the fat this offseason Medieros will need to be protected, likely taking Clarkin's spot?
  16. I doubt Mendick would have to be protected. Stephens and Adams absolutely should be protected though.
  17. Medieros' future will very likely be out of the bullpen given his control issues. I like that we added a left handed pitcher with some upside, something out system is not very deep with.
  18. the top 30 is as deep as it has been in quite some time. Each of those players has a legitimate chance of becoming a major league player.
  19. Guys like AJ Reed, JD Davis, etc. could be interesting I'd prefer younger players though
  20. I would take that deal and run. I be surprised if the Astros would part with that much talent, but their farm is so deep they likely can absorb it. Huge haul
  21. I would not be upset if we managed to land a similar deal for Soria. Teams are far more willing to part with mid tier prospects than guys in their top 10.
  22. I'm confident we will find a taker for Soria by the deadline. Plenty of teams could use him in the 7th or 8th inning during a playoff series.
  23. Including draft picks in trades would certainly make things very interesting. I scoured the Seattle farm system and found shockingly little that would interest me in a trade. Outside of: Lewis (big time maybe at this point if he has much value), White, Carlson, Rodriguez, Festa, Mills, Querecuto, Elledge...that is pretty much it. It's a really thin farm, seriously lacking in both pitching and position player talent. I'm struggling to find much even worth trading for. I think another contender would pretty easily be able to best a Seattle offer.
  24. Tate is a solid prospect, but I wouldn't even put him in my top 150 right now. He has dealt with multiple injuries and very inconsistent stuff since being a top draft pick in 2015. The upside is a #4/5 starter, but there remains a significant chance he ends up in the bullpen. He's already 24 years old, so 2019 will largely be a make or break season for him.
  25. Lewis' value is certainly down, but I doubt Seattle ships him out for a rental reliever.
