  1. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 11:29 PM) Stupid call by Robin but it worked There was a good chance Tyler was going to strike out anyways.
  2. Adams tonight 7 IP 4 H 0 BB 4 K. Last 10 starts 58 IP, 15 ER, 4 BB ,45 K, 59 H. 1.09 WHIP 6.98 K/9
  3. Including tonight's 1/2 2B and 2 RBI, in Melky's last 60 games he has a .323/.366/.517 line. .883 OPS. 27 R, 41 RBI, 23 2Bs, 2 3Bs, 6 HRs.
  4. Since the All-Star break the Sox have an OPS over .800 now. Pre-All Star break we were dead last in the majors at an OPS of .649.
  5. QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 01:13 PM) I'm selfishly hoping that the Sox end up getting a protected pick, receive a comp pick for Samardzija, sign Heyward, and then still have 2 high picks in the first two rounds of this next draft. Other than some kind of miraculous 39-14 finish down the stretch and making the playoffs (not gonna happen) this would be the best thing to happen to the Sox for this season. We are 5 games up on a potential top 3 pick right now. Bring Up Erik Johnson and go to 6 starters to save some wear and tear on Sale and Q for the long run. Bring up Micah Johnson (have him DH if need be) when healthy and let the kids play. See what we might have in the system that can help win next year. If we could get a top 5 pick (take BPA), a comp pick for Samardzija in the top 30 overall pick range, and only lose a 2nd rounder for the 2016 draft because we signed a top young free agent at a weakness for the team, I would be happy as hell.
  6. Spencer Adams last 7 starts: 41 1/3 IP, 10 ER, 42 H, 2.18 ERA, 35 K, 3 BB. 1.09 WHIP, 7.62 K/9, 11.67 K:BB. 1 of those starts was at A+.
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 10:55 PM) Adolfo got hurt at a play at the plate. Holding his ankle, had to get carried off the field. Zangari 2-3 BB Corey Zangari's 1st 19 games: 1 BB, 24 K's. Zangari's last 11: games 6 BB, 7 K's. Right now he has an .818 OPS in AZ as an 18 year old, and is tied for 5th in HRs.
  8. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) I just want to see some one other than Avisuck. I will add that I would like to see Soto play today instead of Flowers. Especially if Flowers will be catching tomorrow when Sale pitches. Tyler Flowers had a terrific July 217/229/290 518 OPS. 0 BB 26 K in 70 PA. Soto in July had only 27 PA. 316/519/875 1413 OPS. 8 BB to 5 K. Clearly Tyler Flowers deserves more chances than Soto.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 03:21 PM) Between last night with DJ on the radio and Stone right there on TV, the Sox announcers are being openly critical of Avi's approach at the plate. That last at bat by Avi was a complete s*** show.
  10. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 10:02 AM) How about picking him up to play third? .296/.331/.506 slashline. At the very least, platoon piece at third or DH. Valencia has a career line against LHP of 326/368/497 with an 864 OPS. 16 HR 91 RBI in 586 ABs. The Sox as a team this year against LHP have a line of 235/282/336 for an MLB worst OPS of 618. So yes he would be very valuable addition for us as a batter against LHP.
  11. Would it be possible to package Samardzija, Avi, and a prospect(s) for Puig? Would we want to do that? I know I would. I would like our OF and lineup a lot better. Melky, Eaton, Puig in the OF. Eaton, Puig, Melky, Abreu is a nice 1-4.
  12. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 06:54 PM) Thanks Danks for giving up the lead just like that you bum. Webb better be up here shortly Can we just bring up Erik Johnson regardless if we trade Samardzija or not and move Danks to the pen?
  13. When is the last time a team has had 2 triples to lead off a game?
  14. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 02:49 PM) Anybody else think we should overpay for Heyward? 2/3 OF defense set for 5 years. It is not my money, so yes I think we should overpay for Heyward. He would be 26 at the beginning of the contract, plays very good D in RF, and is adequate with the bat. Take a weak spot and make it into a strength.
  15. LaRoche in July is slashing .143/.178/.171. for a .349 OPS. His K rate is 32.88%, and the walk rate is 2.74%.
  16. With the bat Adam Eaton has been steadily getting better as the season has gone on after a terrible start. Eaton April/March 19 G .192 Avg .241 OB% .256 SLUG% .497 OPS .234 BABIP 7 R May 26 G .262 Avg .325 OB% .402 SLUG% .727 OPS .302 BABIP 20 R June 25 G .276 Avg .355 OB% .459 SLUG% .814 OPS .316 BABIP 13 R July 20 G .267 Avg .375 OB% .453 SLUG% .828 OPS .315 BABIP 14 R From May 1st until July 25th, Eaton has scored 47 runs in 71 games. At that pace over a full season of 162 games that would be 107 runs. It's also nice to see this isn't due to some inflated BABIP.
  17. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 09:56 PM) He's also had a plus 4 ERA like all year. I like him he's just not been as advertised. Now he's 3.91 due to his hot streak lately. I would t be opposed to signing him in the offseason I've just been frustrated with him. In his last 8 starts he has pitched fairly well. 60 IP, 47 H, 11 BB, 45 K, 17 ER, 2.55 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, 4.09 K:BB, 6.75 K/9. He is currently 19th in WAR among pitchers on Fangraphs for the season. He has also gone at least 7 innings in 12 of his last 13 starts. If we can't get a good prospect in return for him, I see no reason to trade him. Just take the compensation pick at the end of the 1st round to go with our Top 10 pick. Here are your pitchers ahead of Samardzija in WAR, only 4 on that list besides him that are available. Max Scherzer Clayton Kershaw Corey Kluber Chris Sale Dallas Keuchel Zack Greinke Jake Arrieta David Price Chris Archer Jacob deGrom Sonny Gray Clay Buchholz Gerrit Cole Michael Pineda Lance Lynn Carlos Carrasco Tyson Ross Johnny Cueto Jeff Samardzija
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 03:02 PM) Erik Johnson should be in the rotation within the next week. He's 100% earned the shot. Since they're not going to eat the money on Danks, Danks can start in the rotation next year and then Carson takes his place sometime early in the year assuming the normal White Sox like progression. That's when Danks finally moves to the bullpen and we near the end. It's still not a very competitive roster since Rodon will be a still-learning sophomore and there will be a rookie and a rookie and a half, but you give the guys a chance to pitch through their difficulties as youngins for the next season+ and maybe, just maybe, by 2017 we have a really strong rotation where everyone is young and still has a good amount of experience. In 2017 we could have an entire rotation 28 or younger and under team control through 2019. Chris Sale 28, $12 million. Under control through 2019. Jose Quintana 28, $7 million. Under control through 2020. Carlos Rodon 24, $660 K?. Under control through 2021. Erik Johnson 27 $660 K? Under control through 2020. Carson Fulmer 23 $660 K? Under control through 2022. In 2017 the bullpen could also still consist of Robertson, Duke, Nate Jones, Putnam, Petricka, Jennings, Webb, Montas, Danish and any others we chose to add. Pitching appears to be in good shape for the future. There is no need for Jeff Samardzija in the rotation costing $12 mill + a year. There will also be no more $15.75 mill from John Danks in there. We need to trade Samardzija (not for scraps but something or take the comp pick) and give Johnson and Rodon chances to grow the rest of this season and next so we can see what we have for the next couple of years. If they can't handle it we need to look for another solution in the rotation.
  19. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 01:46 PM) Since it's a DH, are they just calling him up to cover this game? He hasn't pitched all that well in Kanny.. His last 3 games have been good. 18 1/3 IP, 20 H, 1 BB, 3 ER 12 K. 1.48 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 12:1 K:BB.
