  1. Except the growth potential of the south side is off the charts. How long does a commute from 35th into the loop take? At most like 15 minutes. Meanwhile you have the next wave of bougies moving into actual transportation deserts served by one or two buses and no expressways at like 6000 N that spend hours commuting FROM THE CITY downtown. Its only a matter of time before Bronzeville turns, and once the south lakefront starts going it'll be impossible to stop the flow. Sox have to stay exactly where they are now (perhaps let go of some of their precious parking lots) if they want to survive long term. The suburbs would be the death of them.
  2. Noah Syndergaard vs. The White Sox Bullpen is like Monaco trying to invade France.
  3. Mmmmmm the sweet, sweet smell of 2 out runs provided gleefully by the White Sox bullpen just wafted into my apartment.
  4. His role will soon be "guy who gets sent down for Tim Anderson"
  5. My current plan is to show up to the next home game and vent certain "frustrations" with the White Sox bullpen in person. I doubt I'll be alone... I dont know if you guys have been yelled at by Cooper, or even seen Cooper yelling at fans, but its pretty nasty. Not the most family friendly environment.
  6. Well the one thing that will probably save the Sox is the Cubs. They are undermining the entire appeal of that franchise to begin with this with the hyper-corporatization and adversarial relationship with the neighborhood, the TV money is going to be nowhere near what they were expecting and, despite how great they look now, they are the Cubs. Meanwhile the Sox will be a $7 ticket right off the Red Line across the Dan Ryan from an area that is going to rapidly improve over the next 15 years.
  7. I dont want to get too defeatist because I could easily be very wrong, but 14 years from now this season could be looked back on as the beginning of the end of the Chicago White Sox. The fall this hard after the start they've had...man its hard to believe things ever get better for this team.
  8. There is absolutely zero doubt at this point they will stubbornly cling to Sale and Quintana no matter what. Rooting for losses may be founded in some fundamental idea that a rebuild could be beneficial, but the Sox will NEVER rebuild. Wasting Chris Sale in particular is almost criminal.
  9. Nothing of value, this is still the White Sox, but the thing about playing the Mets in NY (and making Harvey look resurgent) is the national attention that draws. Lots of people are wondering how the Sox, riding so high a couple weeks ago, look so bad now. Hahn is the one they really want to protect.
  10. Ventura isnt going to be with the team when they leave NY. The bad decisions are one thing but this team has obviously given up on the season because of one blown lead in Texas a few weeks ago. Cant have that, there's still time to salvage the season but the longer Ventura stays at the helm the more that light dims. Ventura may be #family, but Hahn is Circle of Trust, and they will gladly let Ventura fall on his sword to keep a senior member of the Circle like Hahn insulated.
  11. I'm gonna go with the old fashioned BLOWN LEAD selection for tonight's loss.
  12. Yea I dont know what he's doing. If he wants to quit why not just quit? It's not like he'd be walking out on a bunch of money his contract is up at the end of the season.
  13. I thought building a bullpen capable of holding a lead would be mutually beneficial to the White Sox organization and White Sox fans. I guess the org felt like it had to live up to its adversarial relationship w the fanbase and start losing some games.
  14. Even Harvey can't spot the White Sox bullpen a big enough lead. 7-6 Mets, 5 Metd runs coming in the 8th and 2 in the 9th for the walkoff.
  15. The problem with the minors is not the lack of top 100 prospects. The Sox are actually OK on that front and figure to be better. The problem is there are absolutely zero MLB ready arms that challenge the current crop of absolute bums populating the Sox pen. Nate Jones, Albers, Duke, Jennings (Robertson too) all need to be sent it the glue factory... but there's nobody to replace them. Although I've hit the point where I have more faith on Phil Aumont ignoring his AAA production and becoming a lights out closer than I do Robertson ever getting another 3 out save.
  16. This draft will be a boon for the farm. At least there is hope on that front.
  17. He's the catalyst for this collapse. Fair or not (though its completely fair...he sucks) its time. He hasn't had an uneventful appearance in weeks. He is not an option no matter how big the lead is.
  18. I doubt there is anything there to salvage, but if there is I dont want to wait around to find out.
  19. Well...at least Im not from Missouri. In a way its impossible to come out of KC a "loser" relative to these yokels who are from there.
  20. The second you saw Albers coming into this game you knew what was coming. At least with Purke or Kahnle there is some doubt that the lead will be blown, with Albers there is none. Albers is the definition of a gas can.
  21. And if the Sox just get run out of the building tomorrow I'm sure the Sox will be very glad they "saved" Nate Jones.
