  1. In 2008 I was 62 years old, married, retired and living in Florida playing golf 4 times a week. In 2021 I am 75 years old, married, retired, and living in Florida playing golf 3 times a week. Going all the way back to 1959, yesterday Sept 22 was the 62nd anniversary of my boyhood heroes winning the AL pennant for the first time in 40 years. I was 13 years old and just entered 8th grade a few weeks earlier, it was one of the great days of my youth. 10 days later my favorite uncle took my mom and me to the second game of the World Series, a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to the Dodgers.
  2. They still have 1 more game in Detroit tomorrow, if KC beats Cleveland tonight we can clinch with a win on Wednesday in Motown.
  3. No doubt this team has been underperforming since the break, why, I don't know. They are a .500 team since the break and I just dont see them turning on a switch and becoming world beaters. At this point I can't see them beating the Astros in the playoffs. I hope I'm wrong as I've been a fan for almost 70 years and I like to see another World Championship in my lifetime.
  4. If things go right tonight, it could be down to 1.
  5. A little too early for that, we need a larger sample than 29 AB's but I do like what I'm seeing so far.
  6. Not really playoffs, at least we won the American League pennant those years.
  7. Except for 2005, we bowed out in the first round in 1983, 1993, 2000, 2008 and 2020.
  8. I dont see anyone giving him a long term contract, 2 years at the most.
  9. Just pathetic, I'm not feeling good about the team right now.
  10. I wouldn't count on it unless we see a dramatic turn around in what's left of the season.
  11. These guys have had me scratching my head since the All Star break, I won't be surprised if we get knocked out of the playoffs in the first round.
  12. I agree but the record speaks for itself, they're not playing great, a few games over .500 since the All Star break. There's something missing, seems like they're not overly motivated, maybe because they've never really been pressed by Cleveland or had a crucial series in the second half or it could be the manager is having trouble motivating these guys.
  13. One of them was the 50th anniversary of the 1st All Star game at Comiskey
  14. That's all we need, a Covid outbreak on the team.
  15. I tend to agree, the season is way too long. I'd like the season to start in mid April and end in mid September giving us another round of playoffs. Right now we have too mamy teams playing for absolutely nothing in late September.
  16. We had the Moderna with the second jab on April 1st, so far no ill effects. As soon as the booster is available, we will take that too. Going on 76 and didn't want to take any chances as in the early days of Covid mostly old people were dying. We lost a very good friend to Covid in June of 2020 and that hit us very hard.
  17. In answer to the original question; No, baseball doesn't work that way. I'm just hoping that when the playoffs start that the Sox have everyone back healthy and ready to go.
  18. Eventually we will see 32 teams with each league having 4 divisions with 4 teams in each division. Could have anywhere from 8 to 16 teams making the playoffs. We could also see each league with 2 divisions of 8 teams each.
  19. Agree, about a .500 team since the break but very well rested.
  20. So many more possibilities with him in the outfield.
