  1. Schriffen was between a rock and a hard place, first year on the Job and doing play by play for one of the worst teams of all time, you can’t put lipstick on a pig which he tried to do on many occasions.
  2. I was one of the 20,000, hated the idea but I loved my White Sox.
  3. If he went to a contender surrounded by better players he’d probably be an .800 OPS guy.
  4. I wonder if Tiger fans have gotten use to Tiger Math yet, my prayers are with them.
  5. If you had to live in Detroit you’d be booing too.
  6. No, 2 are worse, the 1916 A’s and the 1962 Mets, we beat out the Mets by percentage points even though we had I more loss.
  7. He thought he was doing the right thing but he was dead wrong in just about every move, he’s the wrong guy for the job.
  8. Tough season for Schriffen but as the season went on I think he improved, the guy is no dummy and will figure things out and will wind up being a more than adequate play by play guy.
  9. I’ve never seen the Mets record as 120-40 -1, I was around but I’ assumed they had 2 rainouts that were never made up. EDIT Just checked with Baseball Reference, they had a game in September with the Astros end in 7-7 tie, game conditions were dry so maybe there was a curfew or a power outage. They also only played 17 games against the Cardinals so the 18th game had to be a rainout that wasn’t made up. They also have the Mets record at 40-120-1. Records are records and when they happened or what era it was really doesn’t matter. That being said some say the modern era was when the American League was formed and along with it came the World Series, others say the modern era started with end of the dead ball with Babe Ruth changing the game hitting home runs like no one had ever seen before.
  10. Win tomorrow and we will have a better record percentage wise than the 1962 Mets. .253 for the Sox, .250 for the Mets, regardless both teams have the 1916 Philadelphia A’s beat who were 36-117 for a .235 winning percentage.
  11. The connection with TLR might have some bearing and he could wind up managing the White Sox.
  12. Interesting what Nicky Lopez said, the players will move on and it won’t really bother them all that much especially with the money they make, it’s us fans that will suffer as this year will imbedded in our minds forever. Lopez might be a little upset as he grew up a Sox fan.
  13. I have to add the wonderful teams of 1950s GO GO SOX, I was so spoiled growing up with winning baseball from 1952 through 1967, I was almost on suicide watch in 1968 when the Sox had their first losing season since 1950, had a hard time accepting a losing season.
  14. Correct, he’s not doing it on purpose, he’s just not qualified for the job, he put together a joke of a team that he thought was going to be competitive and then when it came time to trade the few assets we had he was fleeced. He should resign after the last out on Sunday. We as fans are done with patience, no more rebuilds, we want the club to be run like a big market franchise, not the Pirates or the Royals, they need to bring in the best GM and manager available along with coaches who know what they’re doing. They also must start spending money and sign free agents while building a viable farm system with good scouts and instructors, not people who are just collecting pay checks, if Reinsdorf isn’t willing to do this then he must sell the club to hopefully someone who will do everything I mentioned,
  15. Whatever but I’m not changing what I think, I’ve never been a fan of Moncada, I see so much of Moncada in Robert with a lackadaisical attitude especially after another strikeout or a horrible at bat.
  16. 6, but I’m also going with another reason, I think Moncada was a bad influence on him.
  17. I don’t give 2 shits about Benetti, only announcer I knew that put fanny’s in the seats was Harry Caray.
  18. From what I heard from both of them during the announcement was that Schriffen will be back and they look forward to working together again.
  19. Hopefully he will be selling a good product in the near future. Back to Stone, just a few days ago he was saying that this year has been a huge strain on him, is there a chance that JR is selling or that he assured Stone that he would maybe bring on some free agents and turn this disaster around ASAP
  20. Just announced that Stone will be back for multiple years. Schriffen needs some work but I think eventually he will be OK. I like his enthusiasm.
  21. The fans who show up should give the players a break, most of them are minor leaguers who have been rushed to the big club, the others just aren’t good major leaguers, any wrath shown should be directed at the architects of this disaster, Reinsdorf and Getz.
