  1. Could be and that would be nice, they have to build a ballpark and surrounding area that is a destination.
  2. 81 pages so far and everything that could be said has been said but bottom line is there are around 10 million people in the Chicago metro area and the Cubs own the market with 67 percent Cub fans and 33 percent Sox fans. A new stadium will help draw fans for a while but after a few years the Cubs will still own the market and the Sox will struggle to draw 2 million a year. The Sox would be better off in another city and frankly I don’t care as that’s what 42 years of JR’s ownership has done to me.
  3. Some great answers but it’s sad how this franchise has reached its lowest point since I became a fan in 1952, I thought 68,69 and 70 were horrible years but I’ve never seen Sox fans so despondent and depressed with the franchise as they are now with many almost hoping they move to Nashville.
  4. Aah, you can’t beat fun at the old ballpark.
  5. I hope you are right but they will be lucky to win 70 games.
  6. Smith just signed with the A’s.
  7. The guy I still worry about is Kopech, he has the arm but is otherwise a mess. I still don’t understand the hate for Vaughn from many here, last year was his first full year playing at first base, basically he’s still a kid and I think he will improve quite a bit in the coming years plus he has a good attitude.
  8. I like your optimism but at this point a .500 season would be fantastic.
  9. I agree on Benintendi, he had a bad wrist last year, batting second I’d pencil him in for close to a .300 BA with 10-15 homers and 60 ribbies, .770+ OPS.
  10. Maybe with all these trades there might be a decent right fielder, this guy Fletcher might be a keeper.
  11. Don’t forget the iconic and World Famous White Palace grill at Canal and Roosevelt.
  12. I would bet that the Sox would be better with new owners.
  13. All depends, there are of 10s of thousands of fans that are just a short walking distance to Wrigley, it’s truly a neighborhood ball park. I grew up in Rogers Park in the 50s and 60s and as kids we hopped on the L at Loyola and were at the park in 15 minutes, sometimes we took the Clark Street bus which took a tad longer. PS I always rooted against the Cubs but it was all about going to MLB games and seeing future HOF stars like Mays, Aaron, Matthews, Musial, Snider, Spahn and many others. PSS Took in many Bears games too, Wrigley was great place to watch the Bears. There’s was a huge temporary bleacher that they put up in right field after the baseball season had ended and everybody was very close to the action, old Papa Bear was able to squeeze 46,000 in the friendly confines, he did this with the temporary bleacher but also by adding box seats, in those days they had actual box seats with 8 seats to a box but they weren’t bolted to the cement floor, well Papa Bear would take out those 8 box seats and put in 10 narrower seats.
  14. Those are still my favorites which we had in the GO GO years.
  15. They have talked about this site since the mid 60s when Arthur Allyn wanted a new park for the Sox and one for the Bears, why it never has been developed is a mystery to me and I’m sure others
  16. The White Sox have never been a huge draw at 35th and Shields, they are one of the few MLB teams that have failed to draw 3 million fans in a season, sort of sad for a big market club. It was a huge mistake to build Comiskey II there in the first place and on top of it they built an ugly monstracity that everybody hated. I thought at the time moving to Addison was a good idea but now building a new place at “78” would make a ton of sense. For starters they would draw more from the downtown after work force and also from tourists staying in the downtown area, they would also draw more casual fans who won’t travel to 35th street but would to “78”. Get this done Chicago.
  17. Exactly and if football fans can attend games in sub freezing temperatures surely baseball fans can attend games in the 40s. That being said, football is supposed to be played in the fall with the season ending around the 3rd week in December and baseball and the World Series finishing up in October, don’t get me started on hockey in which we see the Stanley Cup finals ending in late June. All these long seasons are because of one word, GREED.
  18. At this point in time I would ecstatic with 75 wins.
  19. Let’s hope Moncada stays healthy, looking at our batting order the potential is there with our first 5 guys with Benintendi, Moncada, Robert, Vaughn and Eloy, they all need to stay healthy which they haven’t, if they do then they can do some damage. When we get to the bottom 4, then there is a problem with the bats and of course we still don’t know who the rightfielder is.
  20. Saw the video and liked what I heard, I got the feeling from Bennetti that though he was a Sox fan it seemed like he didn’t care if the Sox won or lost, Schriffen seems like he has more passion than Bennetti, we shall see
  21. Ted Kluszewski Chico Carassquel Sandy Consuegra Bobby Coluccio Tony Cuccinello These are all correct but I’ve misspelled all of them down through the years. I’ve always spelled Comiskey correctly but have seen many different spellings with Cominsky the most.
  22. I agree, they will get many more northersiders and suburbanites who refuse to travel to 35th street plus a lot more out of towners to see a game as long as it’s real gem, something they see on TV and say to themselves, I want to see a game there. Whatever they build they have to do their homework and avoid the mistakes that were made in Comiskey II.
