Ted Kluszewski Chico Carassquel Sandy Consuegra Bobby Coluccio Tony Cuccinello These are all correct but I’ve misspelled all of them down through the years. I’ve always spelled Comiskey correctly but have seen many different spellings with Cominsky the most.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
The Mighty Mite replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I agree, they will get many more northersiders and suburbanites who refuse to travel to 35th street plus a lot more out of towners to see a game as long as it’s real gem, something they see on TV and say to themselves, I want to see a game there. Whatever they build they have to do their homework and avoid the mistakes that were made in Comiskey II. -

Living in Florida and attending many Rays-Sox games I also was surprised that they are building the new stadium almost next door to the Trop, big mistake but that’s all the Rays could get. The population center of the Tampa Bay Area is downtown Tampa and that’s where the Rays should be playing, not in hard to get to St.Pete. If you live in towns east of the actual Tampa Bay it’s at least 20 miles out of the way as you need to head south to the Sunshine Skyway and then head back north across the bridge to St. Pete. The Lightning continue to sellout game after game at Amalie Arena in the Channelside area which is a great area and basically part of downtown. -

12th street to 35th street is 23 blocks, there are 8 blocks to a mile in Chicago so it’s not quite 3 miles. -

With this bunch, it’s easier to build a stadium. -

This is where it should have been built 33 years ago or even as far back as the 60s when Arthur Allyn was owner. The Sox have never been a huge draw at 35th and Shields for whatever reasons, the Cubs even outdrew us in the 2005 Championship season and the afterglow season of 2006. The Sox are one of the few teams in MLB that have never drawn 3 million in a season though we did come close the year it opened and 2006, close but no cigar. I would build the new park along the lines of old Comiskey but without the posts and also without an upper deck in left field so fans at the game and on TV would have great views of the skyline to the north of the park. Whatever is built it needs to be a gem that out of towners would want to see a game at, living here in Florida 30 years and meeting many people who have visited Chicago I have met only 2 people who took in a game at GRF but most of them went to Wrigley for a game. A few more saw games at old Comiskey. One other thing I find interesting and not sure if it’s been mentioned but it seems to me if JR wants a new stadium could it be that he when he dies he wants the team to remain in JR’s heirs hands, not sure if that’s good at bad. -
Second level of suites plus the Club level seats is why the upper deck is so high and steep and so far from the playing field, that’s what we got from JRs greed. I’ll never forget attending a game in late 1989 at old Comiskey and while waiting for the gates to open, I got my first view of the new park under construction and couldn’t believe how high the upper deck was. I don’t wish death on anyone except evil people like Hitler and Stalin but I’m hoping JR would sell as that would be one of the happiest days of my life, I detest the man. PS: I know he won’t sell because of inheritance taxes or whatever but I can always hope.

So far this off-season has been a complete bust, I’ve been more excited watching grass grow.

We can only hope.

Sox Sign Rafael Ortega to a MiLB Deal.
The Mighty Mite replied to CWSpalehoseCWS's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Is Getz ever going to sign a decent MLB player that might actually improve the club. -
Give him 3 months at Charlotte and see what happens, if he shows no signs of improvement then they might have to let him go. There also is the possibility that Colas has worked his behind off this winter and maybe has figured things out and is ready to take over in right field, maybe that’s why we have yet to sign another rightfielder.

I think the Sox have 2 more years of control plus 2 more years of team options. -

What was disgusting was the 2023 White Sox. -

I will, maybe we can get a shitload for him. -
Don’t forget, we still have a bad manager.
-
Right or left.
-
They must but I’m not sure, they also traded Margot. They have a pretty good outfield with Arozerena in Left, Siri in Center and Josh Lowe in RF, Harold Ramirez can also sub in LF and RF, Lowe is the guy I really wish was in RF for the Sox.
-
Really surprised that the Rays are trading Raley, he would be good in RF for the Sox, oops I forgot, we have Gavin Sheets.

White Sox sign RHP Chad Kuhl to minor league deal
The Mighty Mite replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
And the hits keep coming. -
I just happen to believe it’s not nonsense so I won’t stop, this jerk came seconds away from moving the Sox to Florida in 1988. Do you know what was discussed when he met the Mayor of Nashville last month?
-
He won’t recoup his losses from the gate receipts, who’s going to pay to see this disaster of a team. TV and radio ratings will be horrible also.
-
Is this being done on purpose, make things so bad that not one fan will care when the team moves to Nashville.
-
He did that a few times with the Rays. He’s a good guy and good with the glove but can’t hit a lick. He had a couple of walk off homers with the Rays but that was about it.

In Memoriam: The White Sox We Lost in 2023
The Mighty Mite replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hadn’t heard that Bee Bee Richard died, IIRC he was the Sox number 1 pick and 6th overall in the 1970 draft and was just about a complete flop for us, had 26 errors in his first 68 games and couldn’t hit a lick, he had some good minor league seasons but just couldn’t cope in the Majors. -
Sox sign P Chris Flexen, DFA Carlos Perez

Getz is building a halfway decent AAA team.
