Sox sign P Chris Flexen, DFA Carlos Perez

Is it possible that they’re slashing payroll to make it easier to sell the club, what other explanation for one bizarre signing after another. -
Sox sign P Chris Flexen, DFA Carlos Perez

This so far has been the ugliest off-season I can ever remember for the White Sox, I think the Rays and Royals will outdraw us this year -
Giolito to the Red Sox, 2 years $38.5 million, Y1 opt out

I for one was hoping for a return to the White Sox with him finding his form again. -
Allen had issues in the 60s but he should have cleaned Thomas’ clock, guy was a jerk.
-
That would be almost criminal.
-
Never heard that but a good chuckle.
-
This is a joke that we are still without a MLB rightfielder, I thought Kevin Kiermaier would have been a good fit but he re-upped with the Jays.
-
Yep, he played in the 50s and 60s. Started with the Pirates and IIRC also played with the Phillies, Cubs and expansion Mets. Had some power with 200+ homers but wasn’t that good with the glove.

Gil Hodges is another guy in the HOF whose numbers aren’t as good as PK’s but when you were a member of “The Boys Of Summer” that counts for a lot.
-
If Ron Santo made it, Konerko should also be in. Paulie has better numbers than Santo in all offensive categories, Santo was a better third baseman than Paulie was a first baseman but PK wasn’t exactly chopped liver at first base.
-
That poor kid, messed up for life.
-
First Billy Pierce then Buerhle and I also think Paul Konerko is deserving.

Merry Christmas to all, maybe Santa will bring Sox fans a good season in 2024.
-
I hope you are right but I don’t have the stomach for another rebuild. I still think they are going to do a little retool otherwise we would have seen a lot more movement with guys like Vaughn and Eloy and maybe even Robert traded, we’re stuck with Moncada because of his contract. Then again maybe he has tried moving those guys and their value isn’t all that high and it’s better to keep them and hope for the better and they somehow improve.
-
I still contend that something went haywire at mid-season of 2021 under the management of TLR.
-
Of course you liked Dick Allen, off the top of my head there was his brother Hank and pitcher Neil Allen, I can’t recall the 4th Allen. Do the owner brothers Arthur and John Allyn count?
-
To me the biggest difference is the starting pitching and the lack of complete games, just for fun I checked on the 79 team and they had 28 complete games, also checked the 59 American League Champions and they had 44 complete games, the 2023 White Sox had a grand total of 2 complete games.
-
All four of them in 79 had winning records along with the righty Francisco Barrios who also had a winning record but the team still finished around 15 games under.500.
-
If they are tanking then a whole lot of bodies need to be moved, I haven’t seen that yet.
-
I don’t understand the mindset of the front office right now, are they going to try to put a competitive team on the field or are we in for a tank job.
-
Right on, I've always liked the guy, just a shame such a great fielder just can't hit, good luck to him. I'm still hoping the Sox can sign Kevin Keirmaier for right field, if he can stay healthy he would be a very good addition, the guy gives 100% and maybe some of it would rub off on some of our guys like Moncada. Right now the Sox have 2 legitimate MLB outfielders on the roster in Robert and Benintendi, they have Sheets and Colas listed on the 40 man roster, we have to do better than that.

This Day In Sox History...December 11

I have to say I always liked Ernie Banks, I was a die hard Sox fan but lived in Rogers Park and up to 1960 attended a lot more Cubs games because they played day games and my parents allowed me to go to Wrigley with friends, my first Cub game was in 1955 with my Cub Scout Pack and 1957 was the first time I went to Wrigley with friends naturally on the “L” from the Loyola-Sheridan station, we were 11 years old, can anyone imagine parents allowing 11 year olds to go anywhere in this day age without adults. -

I remember the Don Young incident and that’s when the downhill slide started for the 69 Flubs . Do you remember Santo clicking his heels after a Wrigley Field win on the way to the Flubs clubhouse which was way down the left field line in those days, stupid antics.
