I’ll always remember that night as I became a JR and EE hater and nothing has changed in these past 40 years to change my mind, even winning the WS. They showed their true colors that night and showed everyone that they were the scumbags.
I’m giving Benintendi a pass this year because I don’t think his wrist is 100%, he has trouble pulling the ball and I’m sure it’s because of the wrist. That being said he’s not a big run producer that you want from a leftfielder, hopefully he’s 100% next year and he will probably give you 15 homers and 80 RBI while batting close to .300 with an OPS around .780.
The pitching except for a couple guys was horrible, they were last in the AL in ERA, the offense in most categories was about middle of the pack, they were weak at first base and second base.
The Chicago skyline is one of the best in the world but from 35th street you just don’t get the magnificence of it from that distance which is about 4.5 miles. Somewhere around Roosevelt road and Clark street would work, there are some abandoned railroad tracks just south of there.
Someone said during the Yankee series that the Sox wouldn’t see a crowd of 30,000 the rest of the year, well 30K last night and more than that tonight.
Hard to answer, if the Sox draft you, what are your alternatives.
It’s going to be interesting to see how Colson Montgomery progresses, hopefully the buffoons who manage and coach in the Sox minor league system don’t mess him up.
My next door neighbor growing up in Rogers Park was famous amateur golfer Charles “Chick” Evans and I was lucky enough to be his personal caddie from summer of 1960 to early 1962. Despite us living down the street from the former Edgewater Country Club, Chick actually played most of his rounds at the Glenview Club on Golf road and his regular 4-some included Ray Schalk, very nice gentleman and he always got a kick that I was a White Sox fan.
