I want Colas out there everyday to see if he can hack it, so he gets 2 hits last night while playing a nice right field and is on the bench today, way to build confidence in the kid Grifol.

Maybe they should platoon Shields at first when there’s a tough right handed pitcher facing us. AV looked bad last night with no plate discipline at all, I can’t believe he went after a pitch that was just about over head high, no one can hit a pitch that high. Grifol talked about the team needing to be more focused, AV didn’t get the memo last night. I like AV and I hope he eventually figures things out, if there’s a retool he should be part of the core.

Beni will be better once his wrist is 100%, we’ll see some homers from him too, not a slew but around 15 a year.

When the Sox fell to 7-21 in April I’m sure most fans said I’m not spending money on these bums so no one should be surprised that attendance is down. I’m actually surprised that at this point they are averaging 20,000 a game. I’ve been pretty good at estimating attendance at Sox games through the years and looking at the rest of the schedule I’m guessing they end up at 1,700,000 for the year, we still have 3 games coming up with the Yankees and 2 with the Cubs which will see crowds in excess of 30,000. The rest of the games won’t see many crowds above 25,000 with crowds in Sept. between 15 and 20 thousand.

At the time of the trade a golf crony of mine who is a Red Sox fan told me that Basabe was going to be the sleeper in the trade and a future star, was he ever wrong.

Red Sox fleeced us, they knew what they were trading.
