I have now confirmed the black spot has been there for all 4 games since the all star break, even the game on Fox. I can’t believe no one notices this.
-
I’m watching on delay, but am I the only one that notices the black spot on the main camera behind the plate (they switch to it when a ball is put in play)? It is at the top of the screen, just to the right of the score bug. I’d have to check to be sure, but it’s been there for the last couple games! Lol

Haven't tuned into a game in a WHILE, but saw it was top 9.......Adam Engel is a hell of a baserunner. Didn't take the obvious extra base, then would have scored on the single. Now trying to get picked off of 2b. Good stuff.

This is the most interesting thing that's happened in the whole game...and they don't show it??? LOL

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 06:56 PM) Or that At least he jogged into first base allowing them to turn the DP... -
With all the adulation professional athletes receive, maybe he forgot that he's an employee. You get paid millions of dollars to put on a particular shirt and go throw a ball. Sane people just put the shirt on. That said, I think the Sox and Bulls are headed in one direction until Reinsdorf passes on. Sad.

If Rollins throws that ball to first base, he gets him. WTF

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2016 -> 06:05 PM) How dare the White Sox want to help some intercity kids. f*** those guys. Yep. You summed up my thoughts nicely there. I liked the way you changed the wording and everything. Are you available for hire as a publicist or do you just stick to moderating online forums in your spare time?

Am I the only one that gets annoyed by the half inning long sales pitch for all these charities and stuff? They do this all the time now, it seems. Show the baseball game and commentate on it. I should get paid to sit through this timeshare presentation. MUTE

Sorry if it's been brought up (I only listened to part of the game), but I just heard Hawk say that the Yankees have won the last 141 straight games when leading the game after 8 innings? This seems unbelievable...

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 5, 2016 -> 07:34 PM) His leg is blocking the plate, no? Granted I don't know the new rule well. Yes, that was the first part of that screwjob they just handed the Sox. Hawk would have just cussed on air and claimed conspiracy in NY.

Jesus, just watch the f***ing game. It's really not that hard, ump. Some of these calls are just ridiculous. -
Who will the next TV PBP be to split duties with Hawk?

I would pay a decent amount of money to get to listen to Hawk and Wimpy for one more year. -
Anyone else think Abreu hurt himself when he was running to third with his mouth open? haha Also, I think Albers' throw might have hit Giavotella's left hand on that throw to 1B. Or his hand hit Abreu's glove. Couldn't find a definitive replay showing it, but it looked weird and Giavotella took his batting glove off and kinda winced after looking at his hand. Still a bad throw, but could have been the reason Abreu didn't catch it.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 01:23 PM) Why would you bet $115 to win only $100? Wouldn't it be the other way around? You profit $100. You get your original $115 back, for a total payout of $215. -

Ok Hawk, we get it. You met David Robertson's family. Now stop f***ing calling him "Luke's dad." -

What the f*** is Robin doing, exactly?? Seriously. -
Is this paid time off?
-
"Don't strike out, and don't hit into a double play." Yep. Who didn't think that was going to be how it turned out....wow.
-
Chris Sale has got some f***in STONES. Why hasn't Hawk told me this? Damn, Flowers is f***in terrible.
-
Are you guys serious about Chuck? I haven't been here much this year, but I just came here to post how they could call this...Interview With Steve Stone (with Chuck drooling). He fawns all over him, the bromance is a bit much for me. LOL Stone and Wimpy was awesome though. It's kinda weird how much the announcers affect the enjoyment of the game for me.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 16, 2015 -> 06:19 PM) "One Dog" or "Lance On Point" are tempting. Do I get a vote? Congrats. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 17, 2015 -> 09:44 AM) So here's what people constantly seem to forget. When these entities set odds, and set O/U wins, that is NOT them saying what is actually most likely to occur. You need to think of setting betting lines of all types as similar to pricing in any other business. That means the level of demand plays a role. Now when you talk to people in Vegas, they will tell you there are certain teams who will always get a LOT of bets on the "buys side", most specifically the Cubs, Red Sox and Yankees. What that means is, they don't have to give odds or lines that are as good for those teams. In other words, if they think the Cubs O/U is really like 75 wins, they may for example set it at 80 anyway. It gives them more room for error, and likely does very little to decrease the number of people putting down money. Same thing happens with odds, where maybe they are 40-1 but they'll set them at 30-1 instead. You just have to remember these are businesses looking to make money off the bets. Their ultimate goal is not to accurately predict an outcome - that is a contributing factor, not a final result. I think you're conflating season wins with futures. You are 100% correct regarding futures. It's a "one way" bet, meaning there's no price on the "no" for the Cubs not to win the World Series. Books will rip off the public just because they can - the holds can be 50%. Season wins is different. Typically, you can bet on the yes or the no with -110 on both sides (if it's not exactly -110, it's 20 cents of vig total). So because it's a 2 way bet (you can bet the over or under), there's not as much play for the house. The public won't move these lines because they are betting relatively small amounts of money. That said, pros won't typically put down huge amounts of money either, mostly because it takes 6 months to resolve the bet, unless you have access to credit, and even then it's still a pain. So yes, the bettors set the line, as with everything else, but season wins are vastly different from futures pricing. The hold for a season wins bet with -110 pricing is 4.5%, whereas the hold on futures bets to win the World Series are going to be 30-50%. Meaning, the season wins lines are going to be more accurate.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 24, 2014 -> 02:39 PM) Middle of the order hitters with power, who lead the league in getting on base, and rarely strike out, are total fools. We certainly don't need to see his type on the White Sox. Giving a ton of money over 4 years to 36 year old DHs is always a great move. In fact, there are so many good signings like this, I'm certain you wouldn't have a problem coming up with a few examples for us. I guess I am not surprised that you and PR are salivating at the chance to sign him to big $. It falls right in line with your other musings.
-
I would have given Victor something to LOOK AT there, right behind his head. If we sign that fool, I will be pissed.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 14, 2014 -> 03:20 PM) Sanchez has been just as slappy as most of us thought he would be, as his ceiling looks very low. But Hawk keeps telling me that he has a chance. And he looks like Maggs.
