Offense brutal but trash call not helping mendick there

-
What if it was caught tho? He’s supposed to go full speed ahead there?

Stone very complimentary of Moncada rn for once

We’re official! Let’s get some more runs now

Nice catch by Leury. His best defensive play of the year imo

Donaldson at the plate still kind of triggers me from when he hit that walkoff against us for the Blue Jays. Ugh. -

Wow this feels good. At this point I just want to save some runs for the next two games, as irrational as that sounds. -

Why do we have Mendick AND Hamilton bunting hitting back to back... Mendick has more power than the guy that just hit the HR.... Hamilton went 4-4 off this pitcher last week. Happ is struggling with pitch count. There's nobody on base and we are up three. I'm not as adamantly anti-bunting as everyone else in sabermetric baseball (the Eaton bunt didn't thrill me but didn't make me scream at the TV in the ninth inning either) Like actually this is maybe the most confusing TLR move yet -

Jason doesn't have to be a dbag about it. But something like, "eh, are you sure Moncada could have gotten back given where that was hit?" as a cordial follow-up question is beyond reasonable in that situation. It's certainly not a life or death situation by any means. -

TBH this is the only good criticism I've really heard of Benetti. He's otherwise really good. Admittedly, he's liable to get offtopic and he provides a lighter, nerdier touch to the game than a lot of announcers. But IMO those are HUGE positiives. I watch a lot of games and I hate all the dry and lifeless announcing I hear around the league. And I don't think I'm alone in this opinion: there's a reason ESPN is tapping him to call prime-time games in like three different sports. But he doesn't call out Stone on his weird vendettas given that he's understandably insecure about correcting a Cy Young winner with fifty years of baseball experience. And I have loved steve stone for years overall, even though he blocked me on twitter lmao. But he does occasionally spout some bullshit that needs correcting. -

fair enough. also it was hit right at the bag. there's zero chance he could get back, and he didn't start running further away from first base off the bat. i concede. -

Probably true but idk, why is he running on a likely foul ball while at first? EDIT: Okay this was a dumb point. I watched again and it was hit right at the bag. There's zero chance he could get back, and he didn't start running further away from first base off the bat. I concede. Stone was on one for this. -

Yep should be 1st and 2nd, nobody out (maybe both scored on Vaughn's double). Thanks to bad luck and bad baserunning from Yoan (yet again...) though it's nothing but a guy on second with two outs. -

I said something about that to my gf right as Stone began saying "look at the dugout as he comes back." I was like "no, this is not an everyday first home run---there's no chance they give him the silent treatment" -

Lmao I hope it riled him up a bit. Keuchel looking like the guy we've seen all year once again. Glad to see that back-to-back doubles didn't unleash a hit parade or lead to any walks. The vaunted groundouts were induced. Hopefully the Twins don't wake up their second time through the lineup and Dallas reprises his first inning form. Would really love to see the heart of the order grab back that run against Happ this time around, especially because if they don't, I'm skeptical that the bottom of the order will. -

Good AB so far for Hamilton. I bet he wishes he could exclusively hit off of JA Happ. He'd be an everyday starter for sure. -

Yeah he was locating the four-seemer AND the cutter, looked decent with the change, and concluded the inning with a wipeout slider. Maybe his best inning of the year. -

Wow, four swinging strikes, two strikeouts, and a 1-2-3 inning on eleven pitches for Dallas. It would be hard to script a better first inning. Love to see it, hopefully he keeps it up.
