  1. That was just sad to watch lol
  2. I hope Abreu didn't hurt himself too badly on that one... Yikes.
  3. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 01:51 PM) Q is good because of his nibbling, not in spite of it. It's situational. Obviously he has to tread carefully when he's in a jam, and his nibbiling can bait hitters into swinging at bad pitches. But it's not as desirable when he's inflating pitch count in at-bat after at-bat by being needlessly tepid (something he's avoiding today).
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 01:44 PM) He did. Pitching against a team that can't hit helps your stats. In some of his starts, he seemed to be reverting to old habits (nibbling) and sacrificing some of his strengths (fewer first pitch strikes). He wasn't locating his changeup or slider. It would certainly be sad if this KC lineup hit Quintana, but so far his command has been good and I've liked his aggressiveness. Up to six strikeouts.
  5. 4 K's for Q through two innings. Pretty weak contact. Hopefully he's figured something out.
  6. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 01:47 PM) I'm at the game, is he being squeezed? Seems like it. Also at the game, was just thinking the same thing...
  7. Gotta say, scoring in every inning through six is pretty cool. Don't see that everyday.
  8. Have you ever seen a single image that captured the essence of who Avi is as a player better than this one: http://m.imgur.com/sJhzH71
  9. Wow, back-to-back HR's. Guess Abreu hitting is contagious. Great to see Abreu finally hitting now, esp. in a situation like this (against division rivals who know his weaknesses, good pitcher on the mound who is dominating the Sox, tie game). Would have liked it earlier, of course, but maybe getting this season back on track will allow him to get next year back on track as well. Maybe it's his son?
  10. Another K! Jones came out with filthy stuff today. Let's get some insurance- just need three more outs
  11. Awesome battle between Martin and Jones.. And jones prevails!
  12. Wow, pleasant surprise. Was not expecting to get out of that inning unscathed, but kudos to Jennings. Let's hope the pen and offense can combine to preserve the win for rodon
  13. QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 28, 2016 -> 02:03 PM) Who is this team? As always, Avi the Great is here to remind you. Also, I love Morneau. I rarely think this about veteran midseason acquisitions, but I hope we keep him. Maybe a small sample size, but the guy is just clutch. If Sale was on the mound, what are the odds Cano gets plunked in retaliation for Eaton and Abreu in the same inning?
  14. Ugh got baited into swinging at ball 4 in the dirt. Still gotta work on that plate discipline for TA
  15. Justin Morneau is awesome. Hope he sticks around. I feel like nearly every other Sox hitter would strike or pop out in that situation. Nice to see Abreu demonstrate patience in a stressful situation Love first inning offense!
  16. Q is an amazing pitcher and it's a joy to watch him work. That Orlando AB (which came when it should have been a man on first with two outs but thanks to the error was 1st and 3rd, 1 out) was a truly masterful performance.
  17. Man on third one, one out. When we inevitably didn't score, my thoughts were more along the lines of "at least we had a baserunner" than anything else. Maybe Saladino can be something after all?
  18. 2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K I like this approach a lot better than "pitching to contact"
  19. -fastball -changeup -slider swinging strike swinging strike that is how you pitch to get people out. plz more of that.
  20. this is why "pitching to contact" is totally absurd and makes no sense
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 01:21 PM) Was that actually a clear sacrifice? I.e. squared early and not bunting for a hit? it was put down quickly but so hard that i assumed it was a sacrifice. he could have just messed it up.
