  1. This is probably the worst Opening Day roster I have ever seen. Robert is a legit mlb player. I'm not sure anyone else is a lock to be i the league two years from now. Here's an interesting exercise: would you be SHOCKED if this player was DFA'd in the next three months? Lee - No Thaiss - No Vaughn - A little Sosa - No Amaya - No Vargas - No Benintendi -Yes Robert - Yes Slater - Kinda Jankowski - No Taylor - No Baldwin - Yes Maton - No I think there is some upside in guys like Lee, Sosa, and Vargas. But if things go horribly wrong, not a lot keeping them in the league. Amaya, Maton, Taylor, and Jankowski -- I would be shocked if they're not DFA at some point. Slater is owed some money, so that's why I'd be a little surprised.
  2. I don't like Saucke much because to the plate discipline. Maybe Fuller helps him with that and he surprises me.
  3. Makarewicz looked pretty good at Kanny last year, but he's really old for the level and I don't think he sticks at 3b. I wonder if he makes it to W-S or mans 1b at Kanny. Miller-Green is a great story but he's very old and did not hit. I may have a better path as a relief arm. I barely saw McCants play, but I doubt he's gonna get too many ABs considering who's in Kanny's OF. I see them having a bunch of significant prospects including Bonemer, Wolkow, Braden Montgomery, McLain, Mogollon, and Ronny Hernandez. They'll probably also get Arxy Hernandez. That team is gonna mash.
  4. I love the HS shortstop class. I hope the Sox have the guts to take one of them.
  5. I am pretty shocked that Braden Montgomery and McLain are starting in Kanny. That line up is gonna put some points on the board. W-S is a little bit of a prospect desert with Smith and Taylor starting in Birmingham. Outfield must be Saucke, Zavala, and Hogan? Caden Connor?
  6. Rodriguez is a reclamation project. They believe they can fix him. I have my doubts.
  7. Man, Slater looks bad out there. Braden Montgomery (or someone else) may be up by June.
  8. Eisert seemingly has nothing except the funky arm slot.
  9. Coffey is being hurt by Sox desire to churn roster. If they clear some of the guys they have claimed on waivers by midseason, maybe he’ll get a shot. I think he’s earned it.
  10. I already assumed this was TJS from the moment he threw the pitch. Forgot there was any doubt. Sad for him. The 2024 Barons’ rotation that was so good at the start of last year has been devastated. What is this, 6 guys with TJS this Spring? Brutal. They will have a whole rotation of guys rehabbing together. Let’s hope they don’t add to it after games actually start to count.
  11. Vail is yet another guy who has a 4/5 starter ceiling and who just uses the fastball to set up the slider. I mean, it’s a low cost move, but he doesn’t have great stuff and walks a bunch of guys. Maybe they unlock something. When you’re tanking a year, you do stuff like this. I wish there was more upside though.
  12. Wanna bet? I think one of those four is an Opening Day starter in 2026. There’s literally no one in front of them. It’s a desert.
  13. Sure. Doesn’t change the fact that they each have a golden opportunity. There are 3 long-term spots just sitting there for them.
  14. So, their 13 man pitching staff will include 2 Rule 5 guys who cannot be sent down. This really is a tank year. I may be optimistic thinking they can win 51.
  15. Huh? He hasn’t been good in AAA. What are they thinking? They have 23 pitchers on the 40, plus 3 on the 60-day. At some point, they’re going to have to have position players. It’s in the rules.
  16. Unless he has unlocked something weird, Vasil is a depth starter for Charlotte, right?
  17. Would much rather take a flyer on Maton than Jankowski because there may be offensive upside. However you look at it, Sox OF after Robert and (maybe) Benintendi is brutal. Given the fact they want to trade both those guys,B. Montgomery, McLain, Zavala, and (maybe) Wolkow have huge opportunities ahead. Also, tells you how little they like Fletcher, DeLoach, Colas.
  18. They gave up an actual player for Gilbert. They must value him.
  19. Huh? I know he’s out for a month or two, but Drury was their best player in Spring. Not surprised with Varland. He hasn’t looked great.
  20. What are the rules re: Drury? They got to add him to the 40, then DL him?
  21. The loss of Drury is probably bigger. He was the Sox best hitter in Spring. Now my homemade bobblehead seems foolish.
  22. Good to see Zavala hitting. Would be nice if he can ascend. Gonna be interesting to see who plays OF in W-S. Read somewhere that in at least one game it was Wolkow, Montogomery, Zavala. Sox have 5 legit OF prospects (including Saucke and McLain). All 5 of them should start the year at W-S. I am not high on Saucke (or Veras, obviously) but three of the other 4 could move quickly. Personally, I'd give Wolkow another half season at Kanny, and rotate McLain, Zavala, and Montgomery through all the outfield spots, but I'm not on the back fields, so who knows?
