  1. Taylor has a lat strain. That can happen to anyone. Pallette always had significant reliever risk, even if he wasn’t hurt, but I will defend that Taylor pick to my dying breath. I think he’s the 4th or 5th best guy in the system. Nasty stuff and an idea of how to pitch.
  2. Tampa may have been freeing up places for prospects. Caminero and Mead are both ready and both play 3b. I suppose Mead is serviceable at 2b. Move Morel to lf to replace Arozarena, Bob’s your uncle.
  3. The Sox need to start doing a better job scouting/developing hitters. Their recent 1st round bats are: Brian Anderson, Josh Fields, Gordon Beckham, Jared Mitchell, Josh Phegley, Keenyn Walker, Courtney Hawkins, Keon Barnum, Tim Anderson, Zack Collins, Jake Burger, Nick Madrigal, Andrew Vaughn, Colson Montgomery, and Jacob Gonzalez. Other than Anderson, the non-prospects are all busts. There’s hope for Colson, but that is not trending well. Gonzalez is not looking good at all 1 year into his career. They have fared somewhat better with pitchers. Sale, Crochet, Rodon, and Schultz are all good. Hopefully Smith makes it 5.
  4. I am not criticizing the Sox, I am saying the Dodgers are good at scouting and self-scouting. They do not lose a lot of trades. Notice how they are not the ones giving up Trea Turner, or CJ Abrams, or James Wood. They give up Keibert Ruiz and Verdugo.
  5. Don’t know if that’s a good thing. MLB pipeline just went through who the Dodgers gave up in deadline deals. Scrubs and second division regulars mostly. Look at the deals last year: Nastrini and Leasure are not trending well. People say “Don’t trade with the Rays.” The Dodgers are the Original Rays.
  6. Walker has a huge groundball rate. Spray chart indicates a lot of hard grounders right at 3b. Sox are not the team to fix him. That said, there's no one else from the Cards I really want. Trade him to the Mets for Ryan Clifford.
  7. They're in the 110% bracket. $50 mil is $105 mil to them. That's a lot of deferrals. (Also, to make it work, they'd have to add years to the contract. Would be beyond tricky.)
  8. I don't believe the Dodgers are in any position to add $50 mil to their luxury tax obligations. I can imagine JR doing something like this, but I'm no gonna waste time and mental energy on something that I believe is impossible. If that changes, I'll work out my feelings then.
  9. No offense, but why are we assuming Montgomery is gonna pan out? His performance this year has to be deeply concerning. Quero is a switch hitting catcher who is a solid game caller. Floor for him is a lot higher. If Montgomery doesn’t hit, the profile does not work.
  10. The Braves’ farm system basically sucks. I would trade them Pham or Lopez or something. They do not have the players to get Fedde or Crochet.
  11. Birmingham won 5-2. Another solid start for Adams.
  12. Good trade for the Cubs, I think. I don’t like it when I sell the Rays short. They are smarter than I am.
  13. I doubt AJ is dumb enough to take this job. He has a great career in media. Why mess that up?
  14. I agree. Fedde is signed for 2025. The Sox will not be competitive then. Who gives a damn if Fedde beats them 6 times next year? Get the best player available!
  15. Senzel is an interesting window into their thought process. The guy has never hit anywhere ever. They already have Michael Chavis in AAA who has at least had flashes. But Senzel arguably plays more positions. Is he insurance against them trading half the roster? Between him a Baldwin, they can at least field a team as long as they have 8 position players left.
  16. Seriously, that's the guy I saw all year. Hopefully, he's settling in. Double was smoked, and his single earlier was also hit hard.
  17. AHT, Adisyn Coffey, Cousin, and Eric Adler are all interesting. AHT and Coffey have to be protected from Rule 5 anyway.
  18. I would love to see actual relief prospects instead of Justin Anderson, but all life is suffering.
  19. Fedde getting squeezed and terrible batted ball luck in this game. These singles have not been hit hard.
  20. That is a lot for a rental reliever.
  21. Angels trade Carlos Estevez to the Phils. They get back Klassen and Aldegheri. Good haul for the Angels, but again, more pitchers. I don't think people want to trade away hitting in this offense-starved environment.
  22. Yanks are super deep in bat-first catchers. Seems like a good deal for both teams even if he ends up at 1b. I wonder if Jazz plays cf or 2b? Gleybar has been pretty mediocre.
  23. Ellard is interesting. The stuff is electric. The command will keep you at the edge of your seat. Even slight refinement and he's got a shot. We've seen in Miami what Cronin has been able to do with just a tad more command. Ellard's upside is way higher than Peralta's.
  24. Williams and Gilbert have both been hurt all year. Acuna is trending downward. Probably a utility player. Parada is a must avoid, down arrow prospect. I like Sproat. I love Clifford. That's pretty much it for me.
